He's been accepted, so I figured I may as well do a relationship thread and not wait until like a week before the version properly starts like last time lol
Austin Greene is a moody and cynical kid, outwardly cold and critical but inwardly insecure and oversensitive. His power basically involves riding shotgun on other people's senses. He's got an interest in studying history and in horror/mystery literature, plays bass guitar in a shitty little rock band, likes playing videogames, and occasionally does little pencil sketches. He's prone to grudge holding and passive-aggressive behavior. He's capable of genuine warmth towards those who can befriend him, but doing so is difficult with his often cagey demeanor. He's gay, and at least trying to date, but often too insecure and afraid of emotional closeness to make it stick; the end result is usually disastrous.
Pals are welcome, particularly if they share similar interests or have similar personalities. Bandmates are especially welcome, friendship optional. Ex-boyfriends would be fun too, though note Austin's gonna be both very hurt and very resentful. Folks who just hate this mean depressed loser are particularly appreciated. Also if your kid's got a power that's got some fucked up sensory component that'd also be neat!

I think Yvette and Austin wouldn't have too much in common/any reason to cross paths early in high school, but if he ever hopped into her head for a ride when she got injured or something he could get to experience a lack of pain or even a conception of how it works.
That said, their paths probably cross much more directly during the brief period where Yvette and Jenelle date. Not sure what he'd make of the relationship, but I feel like there's room for some resentment maybe because he'd probably be framed as the weird privileged younger brother and also I dunno how he'd feel about the relationship when he's trying so hard to hide his own.

OK, I had to reread Austin's profile a couple of times... I think out of all of the relationship threads I've seen this weekend, Raymond would probably get along with Austin about as well as it's possible for a boy as awkward as him to get. They're both in the same grade, love horror and art, a bit on the heavier side, and insecure enough to hold the occasional grudge. They'd be two peas in a pod, if only they can keep out of Jenelle's way!

Maybe the one person Austin hates where he doesn't give as good as he gets.

I actually don't think Austin would have too much of a problem with Yvette overall unless there was a notably unpleasant encounter between the two. He'd definitely be bewildered by, like, anyone dating Jenelle though, even if only temporarily.MurderWeasel wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 11:55 pm I think Yvette and Austin wouldn't have too much in common/any reason to cross paths early in high school, but if he ever hopped into her head for a ride when she got injured or something he could get to experience a lack of pain or even a conception of how it works.

Bros it is! Austin's a more popular lad than I thought he'd be.carduinal-cyn wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 7:26 am OK, I had to reread Austin's profile a couple of times... Sounds great! Maybe if the time is right we can pull together a memory thread or something and see how everything develops.almostinhuman wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 6:17 amI actually don't think Austin would have too much of a problem with Yvette overall unless there was a notably unpleasant encounter between the two. Hello Hello, Lincoln also plays the bass guitar and probably is chill enough to be able to hang out with Austin without it being a disaster.
But let's be real, we're really here cause we want to know how sensejacking interacts with Lincoln's soul sphere.

Austin's probably mostly fine with Lincoln as a dude. However...
His Gift seems like the exact kind of thing Austin would find miserable and disorienting to experience and thus he may give him a wide berth for it.
Idea: Sayuna was recruited as the band's replacement vocalist at some point during it's tenure and is still there to this day. She's calm, pleasant, and self-assured enough to deal with him in his average state of moodiness and exhaustion; and they probably got along decently well playing vidya after band practices when they got closer. As she launches her streaming career however she starts to get distracted (especially considering she actually makes money, as opposed to her paycheck-less work in the band) and Austin can probably pick up on her putting in less effort in band practices, skipping them or making excuses (usually valid actually, as she would need to rest her voice a lot with the size of the shared workload), so on. It's a mild slip in her performance but enough to draw out some of his resentment and for him to start viewing her in a worse light even if he's not making a big deal of it outwardly.
