Isabella Lugosi is one strange girl. Raised by a rather kooky family who lives on the outskirts, both physically and socially, Isabella's Gift (to talk to bugs and give them commands) has given her a near single-minded obsession with insects which has persisted since a young age. Her ability to attune herself to bug wavelengths has an awkward side effect which, if she's around too many of the same bug at one time, can cause her to be assimilated into their collective memories and make her genuinely believe that she is one of the bugs. She believes this to be an absolutely tremendous experience, and has a semi-religious fascination and a desire to fully unify herself with the Swarm. For most of her life she's been seen as the girl who sits by herself and talks to bugs instead of people though in recent years she has started a BUG CLUB in which people who desperately want a place where they feel they can belong can come under Isabella's wing and also wish to become one with the bugs : ). It's not a cult. Isabella doesn't even know what a cult even is.
Someone in the cast who's actually a member of the bug club. Not asking for everyone to submit themselves to the hive mind — I was planning for all the bug club members to be NPCs — though it'd be cool if somebody actually going on the trip sees Isabella as a friend and her weird obsession to be something totally normal.
other than that just tell me how your characters think she's completely bugfuck kooky and if they've ever bullied her or not
i'm fucking serious naft. i'll fucking do it. don't fucking test me.

THE MUTE: ["There's a schematic for the whole Goths album between when and where I was in my youth, I mean some of them are stories but they all correlate to moments. I spent 9 months in Portland when I was 18, 19 years old and these were formative months because I was an absolute failure at living my life and I had friends who kept me alive and who saw through my hard veneer and who chose to be kind to me even though I was not worthy of their kindness, I was not. This is why when people tell me 'Hey John, you're a good guy', I say 'No, I've seen John in a lot of guises and I reject any claims to being a good guy, I see' and in Portland I had a community of people who accepted me exactly as I was and though I didn't know how to take their acceptance, and this song -- most of them are with god now -- and it's called 'Wear Black' ."]

Lily absolutely, positively, thinks that Isabella is adorable and unironically loves how she talks to bugs and that is NOT just me projecting my own opinions onto my character I SWEAR-
-and she'd even be likely to occasionally show up to the bug club, though that would only be when she is otherwise unoccupied from living her high-power, #motivated lifestyle, so she's an infrequent member (if you can even call her that) at best. She'd also be more than happy to listen to Isabella talk about bugs (and likely respond with her usual bombardment of illusions) for hours on end, but she would likely become legitimately concerned for Isabella should she ever see her... responding to the call of the swarm, as it were.
Maybe Lily would even consider trying to talk her out of wanting to be a bug. Trying to attain what you can never have isn't healthy, after all. But she probably wouldn't do so, because maybe Isabella would just grow out of it...
Yvette is probably mostly chill with the liking-bugs thing as long as Isabella is okay with lengthy whinging about how terrible it is to have a bad power and so on. She gets not relating super well to most of humanity but Yvette wants to be more like most people instead of less. Probably not particularly close friends, maybe more live and let live?
No prewritten thread this version Yugi, I mean it.
Sayuna, being a big baby, is generally not going to be too fond of bugs. But she is a nice and friendly person! Sayuna will be open to being ambushed for insect gospel by the hivemind and Isabella would know her on these terms, she doesn't shut Isabella off and listens to her in an engaged manner. Probably similar to Lily above, but unlike Lily Sayuna is actually severely spooked by bugs and will become varying degrees of uncomfortable -> faint if Isabella tries to introduce actual bugs into the equation. She'll never get angry or mean about it though. If touching and playing among the swarm is a regular part of bug club Sayuna will probably have cut her excuses and run, otherwise she's a nominal member similar to Lily.
Raja doesn't bully but he does think that Isabella is super weird and avoids her like the plague and/or like she literally has a huntsman spider riding around on her head.
Raymond isn't going to bully Isabella per se, but he might say something sarcastic and/or mean in the event that she talks to him. Mostly he just finds her extremely weird and a little frightening. I mean, who lets bugs live in their hair? That's disturbing, according to the boy who melts into a puddle of guts if he gets a bad grade on a test.
The sole person Joel does not try to defend when he sees them getting bullied. Sorry, but the bug talk just sounds like a cult no matter how much Isabella denies it, and it makes his big brother instinct go to 'protect others from her' instead of 'protect her from others.'
Also may or may not have seen her get assimilated and watched her try to crawl into an ant hill, and did absolutely nothing to try and stop it. Because why would he and why not.

I think Lucine would be fascinated with the fact that Isabella can speak with bugs. She’d definitely have a lot of questions, since she likes studying all kinds of Biology.
Lucine would probably wonder what the bug club would entail. While not as… enthusiastic as her, she’d like to observe animals in any shape or form, so she might even join it just for that.
