Also, feel free to drop in even if you weren't there at the start, do questions as they catch your interest, etc! Today we move into more involved questions.
Code: Select all
Favorite Character:
Favorite Weapon:
So, this starts out with one of the more difficult questions (especially if you try to only do one answer per question). I've approached the favorite character question in two primary ways:
1. Overall favorite character: The spirit in which the question is usually asked, and more of the one I'm going with this time. This is just what character(s) you like best, whoever speaks to you on a fundamental level or whatever.
2. Favorite character who doesn't fit some other category: I use this metric sometimes when dealing with a big cast and trying to avoid repetition. This can be a good category to shout out a character who is really good but who doesn't more naturally fit one of the more specific questions later.
When it comes to favorite weapon, I tend to go with a balance of weapon use and weapon potential. Sometimes a weapon is cool enough in theory to just jump into this. Sometimes something otherwise unremarkable is put to
such great use that it runs away with the category despite the weapon itself not being that special. But usually it's a mix.
Also, now's a good time for me to note that I'm trying to specifically give different answers to every question than I did for midgame Toasters. So Leah and Luanne are still standout characters who I love—I've just already shouted them out for this category (they'll probably come up somewhere else, though).
- [+] My take
- Favorite Character: This time I'm going to give the nod to Shoshanna Kowalczyk, as probably the most steady and driven leader of the (mostly) ill-fated escape group. The thing about Shoshanna that's so cool is the way she plays out plot and character beats at the same time in a way that advance both. Shoshanna also engaged with the concept of escape in the TV universe in a fascinating way, in that she had a much less antagonistic relationship with the concept of the game than most would-be escapees in other versions. I'm sad about how relatively early she went out, but she remains a highlight and Laurels should be really proud of the work he did.
Favorite Weapon: Small Bag of Cocaine. So, first off, Shiola was right and we should've let this just be a big block because that's funny. That aside, drugs have been assigned a bunch of times in SOTF, but this time specifically they drove a lot of fun weirdness from multiple characters, providing Laura with motivation and Fisk with an avenue to be even more Fiskish than sober.
