If a parent has a kid who's reached grade school and has shown no signs of their power (due to the power being one who's circumstances of use aren't intuitive), would there be resources (e.g. doctors or such) to help find a child's power, or are they just outta luck until they figure out what it is?

No medical doctors, but niche private specialists would be available. Nothing government funded though, this is still America after all.Brackie wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 8:29 am If a parent has a kid who's reached grade school and has shown no signs of their power (due to the power being one who's circumstances of use aren't intuitive), would there be resources (e.g. doctors or such) to help find a child's power, or are they just outta luck until they figure out what it is?

How strict is the supervision of gifts?
For example, if the parents of my kid wanted to hide his gift for some reason, could they bribe someone so he officially has another gift? Or are there systems in place that allow the authorities to double-check what gift everyone has?

Are there a specific sort of crime attributed to power?
For example, if someone were to assault someone else using their gift while robbing someone, is it just aggravated assault or are the charges increased to something like Gift-powered Aggravated Assault?
How are criminal using their Gifts contained within the prison system?

Do gifts always manifest in early childhood or can it be a from birth thing?

About two months plus or minus some change, so long as nothing goes off the rails!mostlyharmfulll wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 10:02 am How long are the Character Applications going to be open?

Gifts are not strictly supervised, but there is a vaguely-defined (and very much not public) government registry of powers. As for bribery, I would say a blanket "no" on that one, since it's a fairly unnecessary complication. There is, however, nothing stopping your kid or their parents from lying in day-to-day life, as lying about the details of your power isn't a crime.mostlyharmfulll wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 6:32 pm How strict is the supervision of gifts?

When it comes to strict tracking, the government only monitors the specific powers of anyone who has been in the criminal justice system (including juvie for teenagers). Legally, if authorities needed to know what someone's power is in detail, they would likely interrogate family and friends to find that much out, if they couldn't otherwise get that information.

Yes! At least within the United States, it'd be like you said, an additional charge on top of the existing crime. So for assault, assault with a weapon would either be "aggravated assault" or "assault with a deadly weapon" while assault with someone's Gift would be considered "empowered assault".Lilith wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 6:34 pm Are there a specific sort of crime attributed to power?

To quote the setting information:
So no, while they usually manifest during early childhood, they can also manifest right from birth (and, indeed, if their Gift results in obvious changes to their appearance, it'd be immediately apparent). For children born after The Emergence occurred, their powers usually become evident around the ages of 2-5, though more dangerous powers would often become obvious in infancy.
Are there PSAs about gift-related incidens or bullying? Councillors who deal with children that have dangrous or unpleasant abilities?
<insert question about power suppressant and how do they work on the system?>

Power suppressants exist in the setting as conventional medication. Specifically, nervous system depressants cause use and expression of powers to be dampened (though, they do not get rid of them, and have no effect on changes in appearance caused by one's power). Benzodiazepines, commonly prescribed for anxiety and epilepsy, are the most commonly prescribed medication for this purpose.
I will note that this was written down in my personal documents! It seems I forgot to update the setting information on the board itself accordingly.

What is the situation with athletic competitions? Are people allowed to use their gift when doing them or is that banned? If the latter, would people have to confirm what their gift is before the competing, or could they just lie and say it's something else?
