How do you predict the ending of TV3 is going to turn out? It's all fire and brimstone, baby, so let's go outside.

How much did you enjoy/not enjoy TV3? I said to a few people that I really, really just wanted to finish it out. I was looking to recapture the quality and speed of older stuff, and while the jury's still out on quality, Ivan's quickly become the character of mine with the most threads by a landslide. The vibe and community aspect have been top freaking notch and I can't wait to finish this whole thing strong.

How do you predict the ending of TV3 is going to turn out? I can't really say, but I hope it'll be good!

How much did you enjoy/not enjoy TV3? Honestly some of the most fun RPing I've ever done. The high energy around TV3 has been utterly infectious; if any version was gonna be my first here, I'm glad it was this one.

What do you like the most about TV3?

What do you think could have been better about the version?
For both of these, I try to look at big, version-wide trends (as opposed to more specific things for, say, "What's one thing you would change?" or whatever). They also tend to be more based on choices, for me, as opposed to flukes or chance or whatever. That's definitely not some big formal rule or whatever, though, and I don't even always keep to it.
[+] My take
What do you like the most about TV3? Far and away the best thing about TV3 for me has been a highly invested, highly positive community and atmosphere surrounding it. Handlers have been very willing to engage with each other's works, celebrate each other's successes, and give each other benefit of the doubt. I've also been really happy with the warm welcome some newer members have received; it's not every version where the entry point is really smooth, and I'm proud of the community for treating folks well.

What do you think could have been better about the version? A small thing, but I think there are a few opportunities we had to get even a little more wild with stuff that would've been fun. Things like getting nervous about the cannon on the clipper ship being functional and so on weren't exactly bad stances to have, but the community has mostly been really responsible and keyed to fun this version and has taught a lot about extending the benefit of the doubt, and in hindsight I would bring that in wherever possible.

What do you like the most about TV3? The noble crusade of our local Brit to end the tyranny of vicious players.

Really, though, the mostly-positive and super-engaged community surrounding TV3 has made everything else so much better. It'd be fun enough to read and write already, but the fact everyone is so into it made it hard not to fall a little in love with the version and its characters.

What do you think could have been better about the version? Someone should've taken the cheese off the Clipper Ship before it got DZ'd smh

What do you think of the overall TV story/world?

What are your hopes for the future of TV, both the smaller games and the eventual TV4?
These ones are always a little tough for me because I'm involved in this stuff (especially for TV), so I instead try to give loose behind the scenes musings I guess. I dunno, not too much to say—usually what I hope for is stuff to keep going well.
[+] My take
What do you think of the overall TV story/world? The overall TV world/story is my favorite in the SOTF family for a pretty simple reason: it's dynamic and collaborative in a way that speaks to me a lot. While it wasn't intentionally built this way, it ended up the setting where handlers can put their own spin on stuff and add little details/play around in the world in a way that engages with the game more than what's possible in other versions (due to its status as pop culture phenomenon) and at the same time the various lore seasons bring handler-created work into play and spread a teeny slice of the winner experience. And, of course, whatever happens in one version can ripple into the next in a way the other games don't quite do.

What are your hopes for the future of TV, both the smaller games and the eventual TV4? Basically the stuff we're doing. The smaller seasons are an experiment, but one that I hope will help make the games faster and more accessible without taking the luster away from the periodic big event versions. I just want to keep the good vibes going and have a bunch more fun games that play with other angles offered by TV.

How do you feel about TV3 compared to TV1 and 2?

How do you feel about TV3 compared to other non-TV games?
I'm too tired and fuzzy to get too deep in these. Basically talking about versions in the context of the wider site and stuff. ><
[+] My take
How do you feel about TV3 compared to TV1 and 2? TV3 is pretty cleanly the favorite for me. TV1 laid the path for a lot of what Mini's about, and has pretty strong V1 vibes overall... but part of that includes having pretty inconsistent quality in some areas and wildly different levels of effort/engagement going on. TV2 has some really high highlights, but also cheerfully made a lot of the mistakes TV1 made on accident but this time on purpose. It also had probably the most strained OOC environment we've had on Mini, for a range of reasons. TV3 brings good vibes, a very high average to go along with the high peaks, and a much fuller understanding of the universe.

How do you feel about TV3 compared to other non-TV games? It's some of the most fun I've had overall, and that's really down to the good environment, willingness to try new things, and support—especially for newer handlers just getting into everything. It was also very satisfying to see some of the things we tried as experiments pay off.

What do you think of the overall TV story/world? I enjoy it quite a lot. I particularly love how, on the surface, it's tonally the "lightest" of the various SOTF settings, but in practice the gaudy commercialism of it lends it its own disturbing flair. A lot of the unique features of it are cool too; the teams and mentors are a particular highlight, something that probably wouldn't really work in any other setting but is great for the reality show vibe.

What are your hopes for the future of TV, both the smaller games and the eventual TV4? That the energy stays the engaged and this positive and that folks (self included) stick around for it.

How do you feel about TV3 compared to TV1 and 2? Can't really answer this one lol

How do you feel about TV3 compared to other non-TV games? Ditto

What has been your favorite thing to write in TV3?

Which of your TV3 characters was your favorite to write?
Now we're in the easy part. This section actually didn't appear in these things until the TV1 Toasters; it was added because back in the day folks tended to nominate their own stuff for a bunch of categories but it always felt kind of weird doing so; if you did, it was a little gauche, and if you didn't you were left without any room to say stuff about your own work. Making it its own section was a good compromise, and shoving it at the end was a good way to bribe people to fill the other questions out.

No real special insights into these questions. They are, after all, about you.
[+] My take
Talk About Yourself

What has been your favorite thing to write in TV3? I half hate putting a one-shot here, but the saga of Mandy spending an actual day locked in a bathroom was some of the most fun I've had in a while, and I want to give a big shout-out to Brackie for enabling it.

Which of your TV3 characters was your favorite to write? In terms of PCs, Mandy wins because her specific vibe lets me hit a lot of beats I personally am amused by. Overall, though doing the mentor thing is a ton of fun because it allows me to interact with a whole bunch of characters and stories in a really different sort of way.

What are you proudest of in TV3?

What do you wish you could improve?
More you questions! I usually focus these on my writing, but sometimes the response bleeds over into staff stuff.
[+] My take
What are you proudest of in TV3? One of my big goals in TV3 was to write characters who fall into more of a supportive role, as opposed to my very center-stagey characters from TV1 and 2. I went in consciously planning to try to use them to help other folks shine, while hopefully still having enough interesting stuff going on on their own to be fun to read. I generally feel pretty good about how that worked out, and it's always nice to have intent pay off like that.

What do you wish you could improve? It definitely took me a little to really get in gear with the version, and I think a better, more invested Sandbox showing would've been nice. Also, by virtue of being attached to characters who did a bunch of kill scenes, I ended up in way more private threads than I like to, and I think that in many cases the best beats I got were from venturing outside those private threads (the assault on the banquet hall being a great example of this—it was a massive public mess, but I think a highlight for a bunch of characters). I want to remind folks that private threads aren't the only option, even for deaths, and try to walk us back as whole/prod my groups to be less particular.

Talk About Yourself

What has been your favorite thing to write in TV3? I'll split this between what I think I did best with and what I had the most fun writing;

For the thread I participated in that I think is best, it's probably Marion's death thread. It's a phenomenal thread thanks to everyone there, really, but it's also where I finally starting pinning down exactly who Nadine was and what I wanted to do with her.

For the thread I enjoyed the writing process on best, though, it was Nadine's own death thread. Apologies to Kermit for interrupting yet more of his Lorelei Grassellini plans with it, but I had a wonderful time bashing it out with Apples and getting to post it all at once after Anthony was finally free.

Which of your TV3 characters was your favorite to write? I mean she wins by default, doesn't she? I've enjoyed the ride with her though, so she might've won even if Unfinished Kid #2 had actually been brought into the world. RIP annoying theater kid. Maybe Main V8 or Season 69.

What are you proudest of in TV3? Writing anything and bringing an RP character to completion for the first time in, like, ages. I've made no secret that TV3 was an attempt to just write something again after a while of writing nothing, and that a lot of my prior RP experience was often cut a bit short for a variety of reasons. Getting Nadine in and managing to finish something of an actual storyline for her was a potent cure for serious writer's block. That folks by and large seem to have liked her is icing on the cake.

What do you wish you could improve? Nadine's early posts are kinda shaky and inconsistent due to me not being yet confident in what I wanted to do with her. There's a couple instances of ideas introduced and abandoned and her voice is mostly kinda wobbly and muted. I feel Sandboxing her might've helped a bit, but I was, at the time, not even confident that I was gonna stick around for TV3 at all. I'm glad I did, but I wish I'd engaged a little earlier.

Talk About Yourself

What has been your favorite thing to write in TV3? Fine i'll give you a real answer UGH it's Luanne's memory thread, Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?, to the extent that I still regularly use excerpts from it for AI tests.

Which of your TV3 characters was your favorite to write? Astrid Millar

What are you proudest of in TV3? ok listen ok listen ok okay IM ALLOWED TO HAVE A GIANT EGO WITHOUT IRONY FOR JUST THIS ONE QUESTION OK. What I'm proudest of is RPing the first character in all 16 years of SOTF history to have successfully escaped the game via handler-led escape rather than staff-led metaplot happening. thank you thank you im great i know. i would like to thank the Academy, and ginghamgirl, and also maraoone and lore all the other corpses whose blood lubricated the slip'n'slide to victory.

What do you wish you could improve? Luanne spent a lot of the later part of the game narratively isolated and self-contained, which is generally not something to be strived for on what is allegedly some kind of "collaborative writing site" or whatever. However I suppose if she hadn't, she probably wouldn't have had enough time to, like, actually escape and stuff. so eh i dunno.

THREADS!

PREGAME: [STANDING ON THE SHORE, GETTING OLD. YOU LEFT ME HERE AMID THE VAPE CLOWNS.] -- [You could meet someone who’s lost like you.]

THE MUTE: ["There's a schematic for the whole Goths album between when and where I was in my youth, I mean some of them are stories but they all correlate to moments. I spent 9 months in Portland when I was 18, 19 years old and these were formative months because I was an absolute failure at living my life and I had friends who kept me alive and who saw through my hard veneer and who chose to be kind to me even though I was not worthy of their kindness, I was not. This is why when people tell me 'Hey John, you're a good guy', I say 'No, I've seen John in a lot of guises and I reject any claims to being a good guy, I see' and in Portland I had a community of people who accepted me exactly as I was and though I didn't know how to take their acceptance, and this song -- most of them are with god now -- and it's called 'Wear Black' ."]

THE COMPOUND:
[You could be anywhere on the black screen.] -- [Hand me your hand, let me look in your eyes, as my last chance to feel human begins to vaporize. Maybe it's the heat in here, maybe it's the pressure; you ought to head for the exits, the sooner the better.] -- [Don't you know people write songs about girls like you ?] -- [Tonya, you were the brightest. Yeah you rose from the ashes, and survived all the crashes, wiping the blood from your white tights.] -- [Never seen anything like that before, falling bodies tumble 'cross the floor.] -- [Take a look at these hands, you don't have to mention it. No thanks, I'm a government man.] -- [But you're waking a monster that will drive you from your hoary halls of gold, and your body will get cold. And we don't waste time with love. It's just death from above.] -- [This ain't no party, this ain't no disco. This ain't no fooling around. This ain't no Mudd Club, or C.B.G.B. I ain't got time for that now.] -- [Stay alive. Maybe spit blood at the camera. Just stay alive. Stay forever alive.] -- [And I run, and I run, and I run, and I run] -- [upon this tidal wave of, oh god oh god, young blood young blood young blood young blood -]

THE AFTERMATH:
[No one cares about the waves at the bottom of the ocean, and at the bottom of the ocean it's always blue. No one will remember 'cause nothing lasts forever, and everybody's looking for somebody to use.] -- [We are the ones who don't slow down at all, and there's nobody there to catch us when we fall.] -- [But I am just a broken machine, and I do things that I don't really mean.] -- [Come on in, we haven't slept for weeks. Drink some of this, this'll put color in your cheeks.] -- [No promise sweeter than a blood pact. Nothing harder to go through with than a vanishing act. No morning colder than the first frost. No friends closer than the ones we’ve lost. Nothing sharper than a serpent’s tooth. Nothing harder than the gospel truth. Though you repent and don sackcloth and try to make nice, you can’t cross the same river twice.] -- [???]

What is your favorite TV3 memory?

What else would you like to share? Anything goes!
Just some more personal questions here! Favorite memory can be a little more OOC stuff than a lot of the others.
[+] My take
What is your favorite TV3 memory? Anytime everyone got super hyped for something. The start of the version, Seo-yun and Luanne, the F10 stuff. Also those Kyoko streams I actually managed to catch.

What else would you like to share? Anything goes! Thanks for working through this experiment, those who've tagged along! As always, these are pretty off-the-cuff and I definitely could do an entirely different set on a different day.

Best Tactics: To be quite honest, Mandy is... interesting. But riding off the success of others is a valid strat, sk kudos to her.

The Sympathy Award: Emmy.

The Empathy Award: Pippi. I'm not even fucking joking. All the weird cryptic shit, I felt it in my bones.

The Gone-Too-Soon Award: Cassini

The He-Had-It-Coming Award: Gregory. Well, OK, maybe not getting his face peeled off, but still.

The Destined-For-Great-Things Award: Olivia you better fuck shit UP. Chris too. I'm COUNTING ON YOU.

Everything Else Award: All the newbies like me who got thru!

Best Tragedy: Junji. Unironically.

The Stomach-Churner Award: Infections and skin stuff wig me out right now, mostly because my own skin fucking sucks. So actually, Ivan's forehead.

Best Impact: Seo's thirst for blood.

Best Comedy: Cheese wheel existing. Laura's coke addiction.

The Sunglasses-and-Explosions Award: I participated in it, but whatever the fuck happened in Jasper's death thread. Everybody else did a great job.

Best Feeling-Inducer: Me writing all my characters deaths lol

Best Drama: Anthony is a study in irony.

Best Surprise: Ashanti dishes out a lot of surprises, TBH. From her refusal to talk to her kidnapping (sorta) of Mandy.
