"Phew... alright, thanks."
Melodie wasn't really a stranger to pain. She's had her days when her Gift acted up so much that her muscles all lock down, broken bones from falling off of playground equipment and scraped knees that got infected.
She looked at whatever the hell Lily was doing, plugging her fingers into her ears. When the noise was over, she turned to Nora again.
"Hey, hey, it's fine. Do you have your phone with you? To, like, pick you up if you don't have a car or a bike or whatever?"
Her hand flipped one of her braids over her shoulders, almost nonchalantly. She knew the amount of chaos she could do if she just put her damn mind to it for once. She didn't want to just have rocks be thrown at her and not throw some back. People who turn the other cheek just invite slapping, you know? It made her almost laugh, a little, the imagery of it- blood and meat suddenly rooting people in place, the blood dripping into the water, and the inevitable screaming of about a dozen teens who found themselves coated in a layer of... well, alright. She's always loved slapstick.
"I can go and call my mom. She'll pick us up, and drop you off at wherever."

“Outta-way damn emo-scene kids!”
Crispin’s bike skidded to a halt above the quarry for a second time. He leaned over the handlebars, panting as one hand wiped sweat from his brow, hand brushing the plastic mask resting on his forehead. The second hand dangled just at his waist, holding a silver and blue metal gun, the top of which looked like a clear bicycle seat, brightly colored gumballs filling it up.
Crispin laughed, pulling the mask over his face. Start a war and don’t invite him? Bullshit! He’s jumping in that shit like it has oil ready for him, and he’s bringing the big guns, Aw hell yeah! Get some baby!
Crispin pedaled forward, going down the trail, one hand on the handlebars, the other holding his paintball gun. Flight of the valkries playing in his head, he prepared to join this battle and win it. Goonsquad represent!
Once he got some clear shots, he took aim and fired, blasting at feet and knees to make them dance. He ignored the bleeding ones because blasting at them was kinda fucked up, but anyone else was fair game, fuck yeah! Especially that fool with the skull floating above him, that’s like ten extra points!
Rolling down the hill he sent a volley of paintballs towards people haphazardly, screaming and yelling the entire way.
Pt-doot, pt-doot, pt-doot-
“YEEEEEEeee-YEEEEE!
Get some!

As Crispin was on his way down, Kincaid was on his way up.
Two fuzzy hands gripped the top of the quarry as Kincaid hauled himself skywards, panting lightly with the effort as he rolled onto his back, staring at the back of his hands. The gaggle of goths were off to the left, right where the trail down to the quarry led, and Kincaid groaned lightly.
Kincaid could feel his hip bruise where a piece of shrapnel had caught him, and the telltale muddy footprint against his rib and the still watering eyes were evidence of David's little workout.
He'd sit up in a moment. Instead, he craned his neck backwards on the ground to look at the goths, affecting a dispassionate air.
"Sup?"

Kaine was relieved that Mercedes could move herself even if her injury did made him worried and he was almost tempted to tell her to rest. But resting in this rock hell would be a huge mistake and one that would be of regret if she had got hit by more rocks again. He just wanted to focus on getting Austin and the others out of there as soon as possible.
Mercedes went out in the open and Kaine found himself following after her as quickly as he could. He was glad that she was helping them out with Austin and he found himself looking back at Kyle, using his hand to beckon himself into following them. "Come on, Kyle." He called out calmly, even if his heart was racing like crazy and he was feeling ill after seeing Austin crumbled on the rocky surface.
He noticed that Gary was getting ganged up on by Lily's power and Crispin's... paintballs?
Oh, geez. Really?
Well, Kaine was thankful for the distraction. Sorry, Gary!

David grabbed his shit and got going, narrowly avoiding getting smacked in the eye by a paintball though tragically getting smacked by one in the small of his back.

The world was closing in, black upon black upon black swirling in her vision. Was she even here, right now? Was any of this even real? Was this all another dream she was having? Lily could feel the water lapping against her, feel the soft plastic of her floating chair rubbing against her skin, even as the pain from her jaw and eye started to fade. The call of oblivion settled over her mind, its icy tendrils tugging at her, telling her to let go and see the other side. She was close to something.
Then she felt Joel's hand on her shoulder and reality came rushing back.
"I'm fine," she choked, despite the smoke pouring out of her ears like her brain was a furnace.
It was so hard to think, with everything happening around her and the gears keeping her mind a-turning starting to grind to a halt. Her mark had seemingly done its job, with Geromy (or whatever his name was) eating a few actual rocks and then slamming into Austin. An eye for an eye, served him right.
Then the artillery came.
Paint balls rained down into the quarry from above, her eyes briefly meeting Crispin's far above. He was such a dick, of course he had to go and aggravate this situation even more. At least she didn't actually hurt anyone with her escalations; paint balls can do serious damage! Garrett got hit the hardest of the bunch, and now she actually felt a bit bad for him, rain clouds forming above her head from the smoke coming out of her ears. This had to stop, she thought, and thus the crosshair and flaming skull and crossbones disappeared.
She felt a sudden presence just as they faded, along with the abrupt urge to pull her arm back. She jerked it back in compliance, and paint balls peppered, then popped, her floating chair where her arm had just been. The thought that it was Joel's doing shot through her head, but maybe she had just been lucky.
Her arms went around Joel, her head too heavy to keep herself afloat. She couldn't keep this tornado of effects going, it had to stop.
And so it did.
For a moment, the action seemed to die down, everyone coming to terms with the fact that there were suddenly less rocks flying around everywhere. Only for a moment, though, as soon the real rocks began flying once more. She briefly considered throwing up the fog like she had thought to before, only to almost pass out at the very thought.
"Joel," she squeaked, holding onto him for dear life. "We should leave..."

The collision could have been better. As in it could never have happened at all. But at least Gary managed to catch himself from faceplanting into the ground.
Starting to stand up, he was almost instantly downed again by several pebble-like objects hitting him all over. Countless areas of his body screamed out in pain while Gary winced, his clothes cut on several parts. Fuck Fuck Fuck! There went his hopes of hiding this incident from his family.
Angryly, he looked up to see that a masked biker was cycling down the hill with what looked like a softair gun, screaming something incoherent while a group of goths were closing in as well.
At least the marker around him disapopeared, but overall things were continuing to get worse. Gary had to act. Fast.
Thankfully, there was a tree branch lying on the ground right next to him. Ignoring the pain, Gary quickly picked it up, straightened his posture, pointed at the insane biker with his goth-goons and started screaming.
"EVERYONE! YOUR ENEMIES ARE RIGHT THERE! TAKE THEM OUT!"

If Mom and Dad even THINK about lecturing him for being involved in this, they are so getting bad luck for the next week while they're home.
Insanity continued to spread around the quarry, and Joel was more or less in the eye of the hurricane at this point. Rescue missions were being attempted, some going better than others. He was pretty sure phone guy had found his phone and bailed. Geraldi crashed into Austin-ha. Kincaid was making an escape, and he thought he saw Crispin early, and really, anytime that guy was around things just got worse, so the sooner they got the Hell out of here the better.
Lily was in front of him, probably injured, definitely exhausted, and also trying to convince herself that things weren't a dumpster fire barreling down the street at ninety miles an hour. Good thing he was here to bring reality back up to her.
"You're fine the same way I'm tall for my age," was the response to her claim, Joel glancing at the smoke as it flowed. "But at the very least just get out of the water so we do-"
And that's when Crispin decided make his grand entrance, riding a bike with a fucking paintball gun in hand as he sprayed the area like he was the untouchable king of the world.
Fuckwit.
His focus was split now, one trying to make shit bad for squirrel boy and the other trying to make shit good for Lily, and even doing it for five seconds was bringing on a headache. It was the only option he could think of to help de-escalate, though, as the sooner Rodney got nailed with a rock the better, and it seemed reasonable to assume Lily would calm down if less shit hit her.
Lo and behold, after Lily dodged some of Crispin's shots and grabbed onto Joel, the rock cyclone fell, and there were a few moments of peace before people decided to lose their minds again. He would've been disappointed about how stupid people were being, but a tired and dazed girl was clutching onto him and his focus was not going to be taken off of that.
His head hurt, but that never stopped Joel's Big Brother Senses from going high gear before, and it wouldn't stop them now.
"Yeah," Joel said, latching onto Lily's arms with his hands to steady her. He didn't try to nod, knowing it would just make his brain feel like it was a rock jostling around in his skull. "Agreed."
The water's edge wasn't as close as he would've liked, but it could've been worse. Not like he could complain about it too much when most of his thoughts were just 'Help Lily, fuck over Crispin, and swim fast.'

Jared frowned at Crispin's comment, and then the four goths just kind of watched the squirrelman shoot his way down the hill until Gary shouted something about goths being the enemy or whatever.
"Fuck you! We just got here!" Craig and Sarah both shouted in exact unison at Gary, standing still as a relatively concerning uptick in pebbles began to enter their personal space.
In the meantime, Astrid briefly directed her face down at Kincaid for a second. She shrugged. Then she looked back up.
She took a step backwards away from the ledge and crouched down lower to the ground, out of the expected path of any stones. Her eyebrows softened somewhat, and she turned her head to Kincaid again.
"Are you alright?" She asked quietly.
In the meantime, Jared smiled slightly.
"OH MY GOD, HE'S SHOOTING PEOPLE. HE'S GOT A GUN!" he shouted incredibly loudly and somewhat convincingly.

He managed to scramble to his knees, still hunched over in pain. His hand came away from his left eye, the palm smeared with blood from a scrape along the brow. As if the busted nose wasn't bad enough, this rock had left some serious swelling in its wake. He was definitely walking away from this with a black eye, and gonna have to explain that shit when he got home. Probably lucky he hadn't lost the eye entirely.
This hadn't come from Kincaid or Joel, both occupied with surviving the onslaught; it'd just been some random cunt trying to knock his fucking eye out. Lily had only just relented in her outburst, including letting up on the kid she'd marked for death; everyone was still going berserk on each other despite that. As if on cue, Crispin arrived to make everything worse. Just like he always did.
Bunch of fucking assholes, all of them.
Cleaning up all this shit could be someone else's problem; it seemed Lily's designated victim had already declared war on the psychotic little chipmunk. Running hadn't worked out, so Austin was content to stay huddled down till this shitstorm blew over.

Crispin’s bike skidded to a halt a few yards across from Gary, Crispin’s legs pedaling backwards to slam the breaks. He stood, one leg on pedal, one leg on the ground, head cocked to the side and tail swishing to and fro.
Dumbass brought a stick to a shootout.
Lol.
I’m laughing at you.
Lmao.
Wordlessly Crispin pulled the paintball gun up, holding it sideways, gangsta styled, at Gary. He aimed for the tree branch (or Gary’s knuckles, boy he knew that would sting.)
Pt-doot, pt-doot, pt-doot.
“Heheh; bitch.”
And then he resumed movement as a moving target was harder to hit than a stationary one.

The two brave bleeders were now leading the charge in the search for Austin. Mercedes with the parasol at the ready. Kaine told him to follow as they stepped into the volley of rocks that this quarry had turned into. Anxiously, and with knowledge of the sounds behind him of that shithead Crispin and his paintball gun, kyle quickly followed.
This whole thing was a nightmare. Kyle did not know what to expect given Kincaid and Austin were in the same place, but he sure as shit did not expect this warzone to happen.
It did not take long before they found Austin, huddled over for protection while still getting hit with rocks. Kyle rushed towards him, being pelted with paintballs all the while. Feeling it all the way down his right shoulder towards his right arm, some hit the side of his head. The rocks around them had slowed down to a more reasonable number; apparently, someone had gotten to Lily. Kyle made a note to check on that later.
But before that, he had a friend to help.
Kyle reached out to Austin, took hold of his shoulder, and gave it a shake with his right hand; he made a few gestures with his left hand, pointing at him with his index finger and thumb while his middle finger held at half-mast before settling his hand to its side while giving a thumbs up.
He knew he was not fine. There was something really wrong here. His eye... He kept covering it, keeping it close. If he had gotten hit... they would have to get out of here quick and get that checked. Worst comes to worst; he will either have to shoulder him or carry him out.

"OH MY FUCKING GOD, SOMEONE HAS A GUN!!!!"
Melodie was pretty sure that nobody here has a gun, but you know what? Better be safe than sorry. And also it was kind of funny.
"EVERYBODY STAY CALM!!! NORA COME WITH ME OH MY GOD RUN!!!"

Alan immediately perked up once he caught sight of Crispin firing off his paintball gun. It wasn’t long before some chick started screaming and Alan burst into laughter. It was official, this was a fucking awesome day, a highlight of his summer (and Alan was already having a pretty great summer).
There was an impulse to hop into the situation himself, to escalate things further, make sure no pockets of quiet remained in the quarry, but there didn’t seem to be any need. Everyone here seemed plenty eager to get themselves whipped into a frenzy without much help.
So Alan remained in his safe haven, laughing as his more easily terrified classmates started to scramble away.

Thanks to Mask's need to make a show out of his stunt, Gary saw the attack coming and had enough time to block most of it with his tree branch. Sure, a few bullets hit him on his arms, but he felt pain on most of his body right now, so that barely registered.
Now it was time for his counter-attack.
Gary didn't try to hit Mask while the other boy was standing still. Instead he paid close attention to his opponent's movements. And then, when Mask started driving again and passed him, Gary threw his tree branch like a spear.
Directly into the spoke of the front wheel.
