"Oh yeah, there's this show on Netflix I thought was pretty good. I can't remember what it's called, but it had Jonah Hill and Emma Stone. It's, like, it's about a medication that makes you fall asleep. And in your dreams it makes you relive whatever your worst memory is, exactly the way it happened in real life. And Emma Stone's character, what she does is just keep taking the pills and reliving her memory, over and over and over. She just spends all day watching her sister die in a car crash. That's all she ever does. She doesn't ever get out of bed unless she runs out of pills."

Altogether, Thanksgiving dinner felt about as awkward for Astrid as it would have if she'd had it with Joel's family (post-familicide). She mostly just stayed quiet. Didn't really eat much.
