And then David kicked Kincaid for good measure, stomping on the side of his stomach with the heel of his bare foot.
"Little pussy-bitch," hissed David as he hovered over Kincaid, right before getting nailed in the head by a flying rock.

Instead of giving a decent response, Austin just fucking passed out. For just a moment, Alan thought he’d been hit too hard by the rock, before remembering the exact nature of Austin’s Gift.
“Hey. Hey Austin.” He whispered, snapping his fingers in front of the other boy and receiving no response. Quietly, Alan cursed himself for not having a marker with him. This was a prime opportunity to scribble some dicks on Austin’s face and he was wasting it just sitting around.
Well, perhaps it wasn’t such a shame, since Austin’s face was kinda pretty without Alan going all in and making it a work of modern art.
All of a sudden, the din surrounding his cover seemed to get a bit worse. Quickly, he peeked just the top of his head over the edge, only to see rocks flying all over the place, as well as a rather pissed off looking Lily near the middle of things.
“Holy shit. Fucking awesome.” Alan chuckled to himself, just before one of the phantom rocks hit him square in the middle of his forehead and knocked him flat on his ass.

Y'know what's worse than someone being a dickhead?
When they're a dickhead and lowkey kinda right about something. Fucking infuriating.
"Ugh, it's not my fault you're a clumsy idiot."
He decided to stick to the one part of this that you couldn't actually really blame him for, maybe. Made him look a lot better.
Before he could say much else, he heard the siren's song of a bird in distress.
Shit, he needed to get to Kyle. He left Joel without another word.
No.
No.
Ugh, no.
There.
"Kyle, dude, you alr-"
And then the Rockmageddon kicked into a true apocalypse.

Nora stared at the red mark on Melodie’s cheek. Blinked. She felt her grip tighten on the embroidery hoop.
“Yeah, maybe… we should go. You’re hurt, and maybe we should get that checked out--”
She followed her gaze, and… a lot more was going on than she realized. People were punching each other, tossing phones? And someone-- Joel, she thought-- was shouting at himself. She heard what sounded like Kyle. Nora felt a tremble running up and down her body. Was he alright?
Then, the rocks picked up, spraying from all directions.
Nora shrieked again, holding the embroidery hoop above her. Only to realize that they landed on her, on the hoop, with no actual touch. She breathed through her mouth.
“We should go”, she repeated.

"Just fuck off before I make you watch scat porn or something worse."
It was more under his breath, but Joel was definitely still loud enough that Austin should've heard it before dipping out. God that felt gross. He was definitely shoving Austin awake if he found him, it wasn't likely but a person could hope. But there were other things to focus on and-
Oh. Looks like they went to Hell.
Lovely.
Kyle was squawking and stressed. Mercy looked like she went down hard in the water. Phone guy had beaten up Kincaid before going down from a headshot. The mistake had joined him in getting beaned. Home school was screaming again and Melodie was sitting with her. And best of all, someone had pissed off Lily by the looks of things. Either that or a number of rocks were becoming intangible mid-flight.
Joel turned to Inviso-Bill and-eye eye not the fucking e-DAMN IT LILY DON'T GIVE HIM AN EYE SCARE!
"Wanna make like a tree and get the fuck out of here?"

''Ehhhh... I mean...''
One of Lily's phantom rocks flew scraped by her face. She yelped and then felt kind of silly as another rock sort of flew through her hand, dissipating. She giggled as the next rock flew towards her, and stopped smiling as it turned out to be real, directly smacking her-
''Ow,'' she muttered.
''Right in the tit.''
The smile spread across her face again. She winced, but tried to turn it into a funny-wince and not a hurting-wince.
More fake rocks flew, crashing into Melodie's larger body as she became a bit of an accidental human shield for Nora against these nonexistant stones.
''Don't worry about me,'' she said, feeling very worried. Mostly about if her facial mark was bleeding. Oh god, what if she was actually, seriously bleeding? What if she was, like, permenantly disfigured? What if a rock flew towards her eye and it shatters her glasses and then the shards splinter into her face, rendering her blind and mutilated?
''I just- am I bleeding? Please please please tell me I'm not bleeding.''
Her hands shook.

This was supposed to be relaxing.
Yvette didn't always like spending time with her peers en masse. Other teens were usually so energetic, throwing their powers around with a casual disregard for the less fortunate. But sometimes it could be nice, and after spending almost all of last summer barely over four feet tall she was ready to make the most of her vacation time now.
The water in the quarry was so clear that she could stand there in it and look down and see her toes against the smooth stones below. Yvette liked the water, but only to a point; she knew how to swim, but if she ducked her head beneath the water her eyebrows and blush would vanish very quickly, and then she would look like an alien freak to all the people that grew eyebrows and had faces that blushed. So instead she just stood off to one side, observing the others and thinking. Sometimes she wished she could just be swept down into the depths of a lake like this one and vanish, and all there would be would be a stream of colorful bubbles from below. They might not even reach the surface.
Yvette was far from the initial burst of action, but it still jolted her out of her contemplation. She heard shouting, the clatter of stones, splashes as rocks met water, but it didn't affect her yet and she didn't know what was happening and she couldn't stop it, so she just looked down at her toes and her belly button. That was how her unique traits had been discovered, very first thing when she was born, her mom said. The doctors cut the cord and it knitted right back together, and she shrunk some, and they had to wait days for it to just dissipate into nothingness on its own. But now she had a perfect innie.
At least her bikini was cute. It was purple, her favorite color, and it fit just right, because she was about an inch and a half below maximum. Her clothes were getting a little tight at full size, so it was probably time for shopping soon.
A chunk of stone plopped into the water closer to Yvette than she expected, and the splash of water sprayed droplets over her face, and her lips squeezed tight as she raised her hands up towards her chest like that might do anything. She looked at the water again, trying to catch her reflection and see if her eyebrows were still right, and then from the corner of her vision she saw Lily take a hit, and then before she knew it the whole world turned into a storm of rocks cascading everywhere.
Yvette yelped, even though most of what was coming near her wasn't kicking up any water so it must've been Lily, and then her gaze settled on a spot off to the side by a big boulder, where her towel lay, and on it her bag, and in that most of her things. She really did not want her purse crushed by a chunk of stone, and the screaming and chaos were suggesting it might be time to go anyways.
Yvette began wading purposefully back towards shore, head twisting back and forth as she kept an eye out for rocks headed her way.

Oh no. Absolutely not.
Javi didn't swim, so he'd been perched away off to the side, wanting to introduce himself and also, not. It was hard and he was working on it (and also, not).
but he was not about eating rocks to the face, and he was kind of set against the skyline here. Good target.
He didn't like being a target.
An explosion of sensation, Javi flinched. A horn blasting and then rocks. Rocks everywhere. Could be anyone, he didn't know all the gifts. Gravel cannon. Earth blaster.
yeah no we out.
Javi hopped up to his feet and took a backwards jump into the air, landing a couple feet up. He pumped his legs, backstepping up, up, and away. adios

The sunlight was hot on her back, like a waffle iron pressed into her skin. Her parasol had splashed into the water next to her when she’d fallen onto her hands and knees. The side of her head felt like it was burning even hotter than usual and there were tears stinging her eyes, dropping down into the pool. She was pretty certain that she’d scraped the skin off of her knees, and she was definitely certain she’d end up with a killer headache in a half hour or so.
And now there was a bald eagle looming over and screeching at her. Which was, in fairness, the least unusual and annoying part of this shitshow, she had class with Kyle every weekday after all. It was just another fistful of sensory overload she really didn’t want to deal with right now.
“I’m okay, Kyle, I’m fine, it’s j-shit, ow.”
Mercedes winced as she groggily rose up out of the water, pressing her fingertips to her temple. Her skin felt red hot, but that didn’t tell her anything other than that she was still conscious. The blood that coated her fingers when she pulled them away was much more indicative. She opened her mouth to say something else to Kyle.
Then the storm of rocks turned into a total fucking blizzard.
Mercedes squawked in alarm, grabbing her parasol out of the pool and shaking the water off, raising it above her and Kyle’s heads just in time for a large chunk of limestone to fly straight at them, phase through the umbrella like it wasn’t even there, and sail between them and into the water without even a splash.
She blinked twice, then looked up into the canopy of her parasol, worried that the initial volley of rocks had sliced a gash into it. She couldn’t see anything there, but any questions she wanted to ask had to fall in line behind the absolute avalanche of things she still wanted to say.
“Does my head look okay?” she asked. She knew Kyle couldn’t talk, but body language wasn’t out of the question. “I know it’s bleeding, but, like, is it just a scratch, or something more?
Her head was still swimming, after all. Probably the only thing left in the quarry that was.

David boot-fucked him in the same spot he had punched, and Kincaid turtled, a loud yowl echoing around the quarry as he scrambled backwards on hands and feet, sending loose stones skittering in his path. David got clocked by a rock and Kincaid took the opportunity to roll to his feet and sprint away.
A few more missiles were fired at him but he batted one away, ducked a second, felt the third crash into his battered rib cage. He slid behind the Crack, a large fissure near the back wall of the watering hole that you could climb all the way to the top, and sunk his claws into orifices to begin ascending the twenty or so feet to a ledge that kids would often cliff dive off of.
Fuck David and fuck Austin. He was getting the high ground.

David winced and grazed his palm against where the rock struck. He looked at his wet hand smeared by a trail of blood that gently glowed yellow.
He sneered as he watched Kincaid scamper away.
Dad was gonna fucking kill him if his phone got destroyed again. Kincaid was lucky David wasn't gonna do the same.
David narrowly dodged another rock before fleeing the heat of the action himself. Now, where the hell did his phone go?

Gary might have succeeded in stopping any filming from happening, but that had brought him the attention of several combatants.
By ducking down, he narrowly avoided a stone that instead flew over his head, followed by half a dozen more. Which then became a hundred more. Way too many to be thrown normally.
Of course, someone had to bring their gift to the battle. Because the whole situation wasn't already dangerous enough.
Looking for the culprit, Gary spotted a girl standing in the water, looking like she was concentrating very hard. He believed to remember her name was Lillian or Lena or something similar.
Whatever, she had to be stopped before there could be any casualties.
Once again, Gary took a bunch of smaller stones instead of a big one. He wanted to disrupt her gift, not to hurt her.
His aim was shit, but most of the pebble still flew into the right direction.

Lily hooked one arm around her floating chair to keep herself treading water as she concentrated on the hurricane of phantom stones swirling around the quarry. She hoped that whoever had thrown that rock at her originally was getting what they wanted. She could already feel her focus beginning to lapse as she maintained her trickery, a fog starting to build in the back of her mind. Despite her best efforts, her hurricane began to diminish itself, regressing into a mere tropical cyclone. C'mon, she told herself, you've practiced this, you've gotten better at sustaining it, just imagine where you'll be in a few years time.
Then, she looked to her right, and saw a cloud of pebbles coming straight for her face. She didn't have enough time to react before they hit, most of them harmlessly landing in the water, but a few of them hitting her in the face, and one in particular going straight into her left eye. She screamed, the sound amplifying and reverberating around the entire quarry, and for a moment her phantom rocks stopped flying.
Only for a moment, though.
She thrashed her legs in place in response to the pain, barely keeping a hold of her floating chair, and when she blinked away her tears and reopened her right eye, she saw the perpetrator staring right at her. Garren or something? His name wasn't important. What was important is that he was probably the same bastard that had thrown that first rock at her unprovoked. She felt her heart hammering in her ears, adrenaline picking up, the fog receding and her focus becoming crystal clear.
Before, she had been annoyed, and maybe a little vindictive. The situation had rapidly evolved, though, and now, it was quite different.
When the phantom rocks started flying again, they came back in force, whipping around the quarry even faster. Meanwhile, a giant, red crosshair wrapped itself around Gary (or whatever his name was), and a flaming skull and crossbones appeared above his head. She couldn't hurt him herself, but she would make him regret every decision he had made up to this point.
She could already feel herself becoming fatigued again, but her illusions didn't relent. She wouldn't stop until she had made her point. What that point was, she didn't know, but she knew she had one, and that's what mattered.

Holy shit holy shit holy shit what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck
Seeing the torrential downpour of rocks upon the quarry would be freaky enough. Witnessing it from Kyle's perspective - through eyes far more powerful than more "normal" ones - was utterly dizzying. What the fuck, though, how are there this many rocks and all these weird sounds and a flaming... skull...
... it's Lily, isn't it?
"Kyle, stay put! I'm coming!"
Fucking Lily, as if this wasn't enough of a shitstorm. Now she's gotta throw a massive temper tantrum and make it all about her.
He needed to get back to himself. He hated being other people.
Immediately, he sprung back up, ignoring Alan entirely, and made a sprint through the hail of rocks real and unreal for his bird buddy.
