Name: Astrid Millar
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Grade: 12
Hobbies and Interests: Listening to music, browsing social media, her pet snake, reading fanfiction, goth aesthetic

Gift: Goth Eyes
Power Details: Astrid's scleras and irises are saturated by a very dark pigment, causing her eyes to appear completely pitch black. Although her corneas are unaffected by the pigment and thus her overall vision isn't impaired or obstructed, its presence in her irises causes her eyesight to be marginally less sensitive to bright lights than an average person's. Small amounts of the pigment are also present on the skin around her eyes and as freckle-like dots on her nose and cheeks.
Limitations and Drawbacks: As the whites, irises, and pupils of Astrid's eyes are all visually indistinguishable from one another, she is functionally unable to convey any eye contact, eye movement, or gaze.

Appearance: Astrid is 5'6" tall and weighs approximately 130 lbs. Her hair is naturally dark brown and cut into a short, messy pixie cut. She is Caucasian and has naturally pale skin. She has a medium build and a slightly rounded face, with a pointed chin, large entirely-black eyes, and a small nose. Her ears are both pierced once apiece, and she has a stud on the right side of her nose as well.

Astrid typically wears dark clothing along with makeup that is intended to draw attention to her eyes, all of which serve to accentuate her goth aesthetic to a greater degree. On the day of the abduction she was wearing a black tank top, a black leather jacket, a black knee-length skirt, a black choker, and black leather boots.

Background:
  • Astrid was born in Bend, Oregon on September 12th, 2003 to John and Eleanor Millar. Her mother is a forensic accountant and her father is a high school teacher. She has one older brother, Eddie, who is a college junior studying history.
  • During elementary school, Astrid's peers tended to subconsciously avoid her, finding interactions with her subtly unsettling due to her inability to express eye language. As a result, she often felt lonely and isolated. However, during middle school, she discovered the goth subculture, which she then embraced as it was considered socially acceptable or even desirable for goths to be vaguely unsettling and menacing in appearance.
  • At home and between classes, Astrid can often be found listening to Spotify. Contrary to what one would expect from her appearance, her taste in music leans toward synth-heavy dance-punk bands such as LCD Soundsystem.
  • Astrid spends a lot of time on social media sites like Tumblr and Instagram, as she finds that they help her feel like she's part of a community. When she's at home, she also spends a lot of her time reading fanfictions that she finds emotionally engaging, using them as a way to live vicariously and attempt to alleviate feelings of loneliness and detachment. Her favorites are slice of life fics based on teen dramas with easily accessible character archetypes.
  • Since the age of 10, Astrid has owned a pet corn snake. Her name is Muffin, and Astrid loves her dearly.
  • Astrid is an okay student, though she is fairly apathetic academically, as she has difficulties focusing on things that she feels other people are forcing her to do. She generally avoids thinking about what her plans are for after she graduates high school.
  • Her social circle mostly consists of other goths and goth-adjacent people. However, she sometimes enjoys when she's the token goth within a group, at which point she consciously leans into goth stereotypes and puts on an extra dark and pessimistic persona.
Personality: Astrid is generally pleasant and polite around others, although her interactions with them tend to be marked with a certain apathetic aura. Due to her Gift's obfuscation of telltale nervous eye movements, she is a good liar, and does so defensively when she perceives someone as a threat. Her cold exterior belies an internalized fear of rejection, as well as feelings of loneliness and alienation. She sees a therapist regularly.

Hi wow back by unpopular demand it's me Jilly again.

Astrid looks pretty fab but is DENIED pending a few spelling/grammar goofs and unnecessary commas I caught that I feel like disrupt some of the sentence flow, so do these things for me and I'll do a final check and she can go throw rocks or gothily walk down the stairs or whatever you plan on doing.
Small amounts of the pigment are also present on the skin around her eyes and as freckle-like dots on her nose and cheeks.
She is Caucasian and has naturally pale skin. She has a medium build and a slightly rounded face, with a pointed chin, large eyes, and a small nose.
- I know it's redundant as hell but could you mark down her eye color here as well, especially since Astrid's Gift physically affects her appearance?
Astrid typically wears dark clothing along with makeup that is intended to draw attention to her eyes, all of which serve to accentuate her goth aesthetic to a greater degree.
During elementary school, Astrid's peers tended to unconsciously avoid her, finding interactions with her subtly unsettling due to her inability to express eye language.
I think you mean "subconsciously" here since her classmates have some sort of awareness of why they avoided Astrid instead of just being like girl idk but I'm prepared to be wrong here and accept that Google lied to me again if you wanna challenge this ding.
However, during middle school, she discovered the goth subculture, which she then embraced as it was considered socially acceptable or even desirable for goths to be vaguely unsettling and menacing in appearance.
When she's at home, she also spends a lot of her time reading fanfictions that she finds emotionally engaging, using them as a way to live vicariously and attempt to alleviate feelings of loneliness and detachment.
- Speaking of, could you maybe give a little more detail on what series or subjects or whatever she likes to read fanfics about, since it's kind of ambiguous (unless it's LCD Soundsystem fanfics which like, fair I guess)?

That's all. Let me know when you've got these taken care of and I'll give Astrid another look.

I feel like it's dangerous and reckless to let in a character who possibly reads Riverdale fanfics but I also wanna see what happens.
