Mending

This huge area takes up most of the island, with the only real "settled" places on it being the parts of the abandoned and run down military base. There are paths through the jungle, but there's also an extremely thick underbrush and abundance of plant life that would impede and agitate the contestants; not to mention the animal life dwelling within that would find the contestants to be a nice treat. The terrain itself is trecherous with several random drops, cliffs, and the occasional booby trap that the soldiers manning the base "forgot" to disarm; one could be easily lost for days in the vast confines of the jungle if the heat and other conditions didn't drive them insane. Exercise caution, children, one wrong step here would most definitely be your last.

"Son of a bitch."

Izzy was really trying her hardest to be as quiet as possible as she sat on the jungle floor trying to dress her wounds to the best of her ability, having taken the time to remove her long-sleeved undershirt and left her only in her sleeve-less top shirt, it giving her more than a better look at her wound but it wasn't making dressing it any easier, the already partly stained roll slipping out of her hand once again – what she got for trying to use the hand she never used, sighing once more and reaching out to take it back into her hand and roll it the best she could, pining the loose piece to her shoulder by using her chin, Unable to still believe what managed to happen in that place in barely an hour... what with Madison shooting her, and then that large boy having to be shot by Keith, shuddering at the image etched into her mind at all the blood that had been spilling from the boy.

Unable to believe mostly though that she had actually stuck him like that, she could have easily just helped kill him... and if not, then the resulting blast that had rocked the building as they had been escaping must have. Glancing toward the only two that had come this way, rather she didn't have too much of a choice what with Keith having just grabbed her and carried her off like that. Not complaining of course, she probably would have slowed them down with how much her wound had been bothering her, and though Keith carrying her had helped rid her of some of the tension; she still had made them stop here for a moment to at least dress the wound before she passed out from blood loss. Which was why they where currently parked in the midst of the dense jungle, that by what there map had showed them covered a large majority of the island itself.

Either way it had seemed to be the best place to stop and let her fix herself up before continuing on... wherever they would head next, but what could they do, a person she had trusted had just shot her – though she said it was an accident, then again how would they now and personally why should she even care, she was the one having to suffer from a shot to the shoulder, one that didn't what to let itself be wrapped up either it seemed. Sighing as the bandage undid it self once more and slipped from her grasp and onto the ground she had seated herself on, glancing over the wound somewhat – wondering just how different this might have went if she had still been facing Madison when the gun had gone off, then more than likely she'd be suffering from a wound to her neck... or even her chest, if she had even lasted that long to suffer from it.

If anything this wound, the blood on her and her clothes was a harsh wake-up call that this wasn't just a dream... that this wasn't just them playing-pretend or something. This pain was real, the blood was real, her heart was beating a million miles a minute not because she was excited or surprised but because she was scared out of her mind and at her wits end. Sighing somewhat and gathering up the bandages and once more rolling them up, casting a glance between the two boys that where still around, frowning somewhat as she took a moment to focus her vision, finding it blurring in and out annoyingly, grasping around for her bag for a moment and unzipping it, pushing aside things and removing her glasses from their case and sliding them into place, though that seemed to do little to help, sighing a bit and pursing her lips and returning to looking between Trey and Keith.

"Hey..." She began lightly, frowning once more, "Would one of you mind helpin' me out here?" Izzy questioned with another frown, a little displeased that she wasn't able to handle it herself, but with her right arm rather unless and sparking more pain when she even thought of moving it, and she less than skilled in using her left hand to do much of anything. She feared she would pass out long before she managed to get this bandaged wrapped and secure around the wound. "I can't quite get this thing wrapped up..."

((Continued from From Serenity to Shame))

"Aw, shit, uh...yeah, sorry."

Keith snapped himself out of his daze and stepped over to help Izzy out with the bandage. Ever since Izzy had demanded that they stop so that she could tend to her wound, Keith had found himself at a strange sort of distance from the others. Trey and Izzy weren't physically that far away from him, but his eyes had clouded over and he was obviously replaying the events from the past few moments in his head, over and over...

Fuck, Jackson...you shot a kid. You aimed, pulled the trigger, and gave some fat kid a bunch more rolls in his gut...dear God...

To be quite frank with himself, Keith knew that in his lifetime, he hadn`t always been the nicest of guys. He'd been in fights, had bullied a few kids on occasion, and had usually just followed the mob mentality that was so ever-present within athletic kids. He'd roughed a few people up playing football and rugby, but never...never had he EVER thought of shooting a guy. Killing someone? No way. Keith was a relaxed kind of guy. He liked contact sports and didn't mind the occasional bout of fisticuffs to solve his disputes, but murder?

That, at every single level, was wrong. Keith had always thought so, and had always been incredibly disdainful of anyone who took a life willfully. People like Bobby Jacks; people like Adam Dodd...he felt ill just being associated with people like that - mainly because if you can find it in yourself to kill someone, what else could a person possibly be capable of?

So here he was - in some sort of 'game', if you could call it that, and he'd just wilfully shot a guy himself.

Way to go, Jackson. Spend the whole rest'a the fuckin' time hating yourself. Get down on yourself and all that shit, that's really the way to keep yourself and everyone else alive!

As Izzy had called out, Keith had snapped himself out of his trance. Collapsing into himself wasn't the right thing to do at the moment. In fact, Keith lamented to himself that the odds were that for the rest of his life, it wouldn't be the right thing to do. He needed to be a strong guy, a person who showed integrity that other people could rely upon for support. He had to realize that as the days wore on, and the situation got grimmer and grimmer, Keith would have to work harder to keep the spirits of those around him up, instead of down.

Also, the odds were that thanks to the fact that he was one of the most athletic and strongest kids in school, who happened to have a powerplayer-esque weapon didn`t exactly work in his favour either. The assholes who thought it was fun to kill people would be gunning for anyone in school that might've made their lives miserable, or been jealous of, and Keith could see that he'd definitely fit both of those categories for at least some people.

Straight-up fact o' the matter is, Jackson, that you're gonna' end up with some more blood on your hands before this whole thing is all said and done, and there really isn't too much that you can do about it, 'cept be strong, and stick it through with a grin on your face.

Blinking a few times as he went over to Izzy and knelt down, holding the bandage in place, he smiled weakly at the girl on the ground. This was a no-win situation, and it was now starting to hit him, as he assumed that it was probably hitting both Izzy and Trey.

"How're you holdin' up? Your shoulder's not lookin' so great, but I'm no doctor. On the plus side, it looks like it went right through, so it should start healin', at least."

Keith grimaced a little, and looked at Izzy again, after glancing at the ground.

"Is it startin' to hit you too that we're all really fucked over, an' that this shit is the real McCoy? I...I can't believe I actually shot a guy."

Keith's voice dropped noticably at the last phrase, and he was obviously still in a bit of awe at the whole situation. Looking back at Trey, shrugged, and held the bandage tight for Izzy.

((Continued from From Serenity To Shame))

Trey had followed the duo, fleeing from the lookout tower, into the jungle. He was quiet the entire time, his eyes searching through the trees and brush for movements, he saw shapes that weren't there and heard sounds that weren't human. When they had finally stopped, Izzy started to address her wound that she received back at the tower.

She had been shot. That other girl shot her.

Keith went to help her wrap up her wound, and Trey sat down opposite of them, resting on a fallen log. He tried to replay the events that led them here in his mind, but nothing made sense. He didn't know who was with who anymore, he just knows for sure there was a gunshot, Izzy got hit, then all hell broke loose soon after that.

He had followed them out of the lookout tower mostly because of the grenade and that they were running, but also because he felt like he could trust them. He knew them, they were good people in school, and it was nice to be around another jock. At least Trey knew if it came down to a physical fight he and Keith would have quite the advantage.

Keith made a comment about them all being screwed. Thinking about it, Trey knew he was right. They were on an island and the rules were they had to be the last one standing. How do you do that? By killing your classmates. That was something Trey wasn't going to do, so he was just going to spend the rest of his life fighting off his enemies until lady luck turned against him.

Unless there was another way. Trey was sure everyone thought about escape. It was a possibility right? Or at least something to toy with. Trey just said absently to Keith and Izzy, "We could be. Unless we found a way out of this game."

Izzy allowed herself a chance to smile as Keith made his way over to help her out with her inability to properly bandage her wound, muttering a soft 'thank you' toward the boy as she took a quick moment to rub her hand against her shorts, trying to rid herself of the drying blood that was sticking to her hand – sickened by the thought that it just so happened to be her blood staining her hands. Breathing in a deep breath of air and trying to ignore the thought for the moment and simply moving the hand to adjust her glasses–which was hardly doing its job in taking care of the whole blurry vision business.

Nonetheless, she ignored her current vision problem and set to work bandaging up the bullet wound in her shoulder, finding it worlds easier with Keith helping her keep the bandage from slipping off as it had been. Though her concentration was broken as she gave Keith a small glance over at his words, smiling softly before returning to looking back at the bandaging process, "I think-I'm sure I'll be alright, I feel a little light-headed and exhausted though." She answered, biting down on her lip, the fingers of her injured arm twitching somewhat. "I'm having a bit of trouble getting this arm to work with me, though I guess that's expected with being shot in the shoulder like this."

She found herself happy though to here that it had gone through, probably better that way instead of having it lodged in there and causing even more problems than it already had. Keith's next words took her off-guard though and she paused all together in her wrapping, eyeing the ground somewhat with a downcast expression. "Yeah... its crazy isn't it? I never thought... I would ever have to see something like that, 'ya know? There was so much blood, and it was like it wasn't even fazing him." Izzy returned, almost stunned in awe at what was happening to them as well as around them, glancing toward Keith and trying to give her best smile, coming out shaky no matter how much she tried to stop the shakes moving through her form.

"B-but you shouldn't be hard on yourself, 'ya know? He-he was trying to hurt you, and you where protecting yourself. You're a popular kid Keith, with a weapon that could do a lot of damage in the wr-wrong hands, you're... you're probably going to be having to deal with-with a lot people trying to attack you."

Returning to her bandaging, she finished off the last of it and tied it off, tossing the extra back into her pack and sighed relaxing the throbbing arm, trying to relax herself but... but it was just too hard. Afraid that if she did, someone-someone might come and try to hurt all of them again, even the small sounds of the wildlife starting to scare her.

"I nev-never thought... I'd ever be shot, that I'd have to run-run for my life from a gren-grenade." She said, attention dropping and smiling slightly. "By the way, thanks-thank you for back there... in carrying me and all, and for now with the whole... whole bandage thing." Izzy continued, unsure why she seemed all shaky in both speech and in just trying to sit still.

Trey speaking though knocked her out of her thankful state and caused her to stare a bit wide-eyed at the boy, the downcast expression returning as she looked off, chewing against her lip once more, worried at this rate she was going to chew right through it. "You-you really think we... we can find a way out of this ga-game?" She mumbled, stuttering lightly, one would think that in the past two games it might have been possible, but clearly it wasn't... those two only had two survivors, what was going to make this one any different. Keith was right, they where screwed – fucking screwed at that. The thoughts of the past games of course brought her thoughts whirling back on one of those very survivors...

Izzy found she still wanting to find her friend... though was that even the proper term anymore? She wasn't sure anymore, not after that night. Damn though, really what the hell was wrong with her on that night... it wasn't any different from the rest, well expect her father wasn't randomly bursting in through the door and yelling at her in Chinese about this and that. And yeah, she wouldn't lie and say she wasn't curious about the time Adam had spent during the first game, it just never came up in her head though.

Because it seemed, unlike her classmates, when she looked at Adam she didn't see Survival of the Fittest survivor, mass murderer, and all around bad person. No, she saw instead... the Adam she saw was her friend who played Guitar Hero with her and simply laugh when she try and 'rock out' by jumping off the couch and busting her ass instead, who sit and have long discussion with her about anything and nothing, who agreed that those sea gulls at the beach where fucking evil.

A friend of course that she had to go and kiss, sighing somewhat at this thought, just unsure what had possessed her to do such a thing like kissing the boy in the midst of him telling her about his injuries after she had to go and be a dummy and asked about them without any thought. Perhaps she had been trying to comfort him? No, Izzy figured a hug would have sufficed with that... but either way, after Adam had left she had spent a good portion of the night punching and kicking furiously at her punching bag for some answers. Answers she found to be rather simple, she would just never bring it up – if he wanted to say something, then he would...

But he never did, and though things changed –but not really—the whole incident was just never brought up, and she really didn't know if she was thankful or not for this, sighing somewhat and rubbing her temple as she reached back into her bag for a moment to remove one of the bottles of water, drinking some of what was in there before relaxing back against the tree. Everything was so damn hot she could barely think straight, let alone see straight...

Closing her eyes a bit and making a bit of an uncomfortable sound as her shoulder gave a harsh sting as she attempted moving it. "Mmm, too damn hot... too..." She began weakly, continuing for a few more words but having slipped into Chinese without much thought, shaking her head and trying to rid herself of the haze, but it hardly helped. "So... wh—what do we next? Look... look for friends, or..." She trailed off there to take another sip of her water, sure the boys understood what she was getting at anyway.

Keith listened to Izzy's choked speech and felt for the girl, he really did. She was obviously in more pain than she'd ever been before, and probably scared to death. He couldn't blame her. While he was putting up a strong shield for Trey and Izzy to look at, internally, he was scared as shitless as he was sure they both were. And Izzy brought up a real nice point. What with the fact that he'd drawn a shotgun, Keith was sure to have all kinds of wonderful people trying to knock him down for such a powerful weapon.

If the shotty is in fact one of the more powerful guns that they gave out here...I mean, fuck...what happens if some fuckin' kid gets an M16 or some shit like that? If he knows how to use it, we're all like...triple-fucked! UBER-fucked.

Keith grimaced. What a pleasant thought. How about we not share that one, yeah? But as he looked at his allies, he knew that he'd have to say something, have to take some sort of charge of the situation. He was, after all, the one with the biggest gun.

"It is gettin' pretty hot out, ain't it?"

Fanning himself with his hand, Keith glanced around into the distance. Problem was, aside from jungle foliage, he couldn't see shit. Any direction that they decided to go in would run the risk of being the wrong place to go, and Keith knew that. Problem was...what choice did they have? Looking back at Izzy, he shot her a grin.

"Hey...about back there? I just did what anyone woulda' done, y'know? Whoever threw that grenade wasn't just going to toss it in and run away. I'd betchya anything that they stuck around to see the aftermath of it all. You were hurt, and let's face it? I'm not the weakest guy wanderin' around school. Just glad that you weren't hurt any worse, y'know? The three of us, we're all like...fuckin' island buddies, or somethin'."

Keith looked around, and then sheepishly shrugged.

"...or...maybe...'jungle buddies'? Keep forgettin' it feels like we're in the middle of a fuckin' rainforest. But you're right." Keith's expression turned serious. "We need to start figurin' out where we're headed, 'cause I'm pretty sure that if "grenades'r'us" back at the tower saw which way we ran, the best thing to do is to keep movin'."

Keith stopped for a moment, and glanced back at Trey.

"I think it's not a bad idea, findin' some friends, y'know? You got anyone you wouldn't mind runnin' into here?"

He looked back at Izzy, more specifically looking at her wound.

"What about you? You mentioned it...I'm guessin' you wanna find someone? Couple of friends? Boyfriend? Somethin' like that?"

Keith looked at the ground for a moment, thinking.

And what about me? Who the hell do I want to find? And what if they're playing this stupid fuckin' game when I do?

"Me? Maybe three people I wouldn't mind runnin' into. Kallie Majors, Darnell Butler, and Melissa Diaz. All three're friends'a mine. An'...and I don't think any of 'em would play. None of 'em are the type. Fact is, Kal's probably pissed as hell, Darnell's probably freaked, 'cause the guy just got outta' the hospital, and Mel? She's one tough girl. That's...that's who I wouldn't mind layin' eyes upon. What about you guys?"

Any people Trey wanted to find? Who did he want to find. He had friends of course, people from the wrestling team, classes, just friends he grew up with. How were they now though? Dead? Dying? Killing? Trey didn't want to think about it.

He just answered, "Yeah, I wouldn't mind running into a couple of friends, maybe some people from the wrestling team, other kids." He shrugged.

Finding people they could trust really wasn't a bad idea. Safety in numbers right? How would they find people though? Where would they go?

Keith was right, staying here probably wasn't the best idea. Someone could be following them from the tower, to tie up loose ends or something like that. Trey didn't want to be around for another grenade to land near him.

He looked at Keith, then Izzy and said, "So what's the plan? Find some friends and get the hell out of dodge? I support both of those."

Izzy allowed herself to give a soft smile at Keith's words, nodding lightly and sighing somewhat. "Still, thank you. I never thought to much about you popular lot, least not after all those times I got threatened to be suspended for picking fights with the cheerleaders." She said with a small grin, shaking her head and sitting back against the tree once more, more or less trying to tell herself that she needed to calm down, knowing that she would be of little to no help sitting here all shook up. But really, what else was she supposed to be feeling? When she woke up this morning being shot was not on the list of things that needed to get done;

Manage to set up a tent without killing herself? Sure.

Try not to be annoyed most of the trip? Double sure.

Making sure that roasted marshmallows where included somewhere? Oh yes.

But being shot? Defiantly not.

Izzy's attention returned to Keith though as the boy continued speaking on the idea she had offered up on finding people they where friends with and/or trusted, as well as where they needed to be going. Because from what she could see through all the heavy thicket of trees, and other wood life they seemed to be losing sunlight, and things where never, ever went for the better in the dark. Though at the same time she didn't know if she trusted trying to head for another shelter of sorts for fear of what they'd find, she had already been shot by a supposed ally, what would happen if they found someone who actually wanted to kill them? Just make them a number on their list of kills, forever remembered as that guy or girl killed on national TV in the gods only know how many people.

Glancing back to Keith though as he turned her own question back on her, pursing her lips somewhat and looking thoughtful on just who she wanted to find – she had a number of... friends she guess she could call them, but only two really stood out to her that she wanted to find more than anything before something bad occurred. Looking up between the two boys as they spoke of the people they wanted to find, sighing somewhat and sifting a little in place, "I-I... there's only two people I can really think of that I want to find, one is Andy Walker... he-he's been my friend since we where about—I don't know, about twelve, I used to protect him—threaten the kids who used to mess around with him and all. So I do want to find him if anything." She stated, smiling faintly.

"Th-then the other person I want to find is Adam... and-and I know you both properly don't trust him, let alone probably want him around, but... but..." Izzy trailed off, looking aside somewhat and sighing. "He really is a good person, just-just with a really fucked up situation on his shoulders, and if anything we should be understand how that feels now. He-he's my friend though, so I am going to search and try and find him."

Sighing again she pushed her good hand against the ground, and sifted onto her knees to work herself back into a standing position, taking a moment to dust herself off. Truth be told she still felt terribly dizzy and almost as if she was just going to fall out again, but she managed to remain standing and leaned herself against the tree she had been sitting against, glancing toward Trey as he spoke, working her good arm about her waistline as she pondered over the words being spoken and nodded somewhat, tilting her head a little and adjusting her glasses once more. "Yeah, I think that's the best we can do. There's a lot more safety in numbers of course... and for the whole escaping thing, well..."

Izzy rubbed at her chin somewhat and shrugged, "Either way, we should get out of this place before it gets to dark... last thing I want is getting lost in his damn place." She mumbled, frowning a bit and glancing between the boys again. "But as for where... I have no clue, no place is safe, I don't want anyone else to get hurt."

Out of nowhere it seemed, a 5'11'' figure, soaked in sweat and filled to the brim with adrenaline literally burst out of the vegetation to appear in front of the group consisting of Keith, Izzy, and Trey.

Galen Neilson was panting as though he'd been running for miles, his normally cheerful eyes were wide and stark-white as he stared at the group, as though crazed with some sort of panic it seemed. Perhaps hysterics, even.

He clutched the fisherman's speargun with shaking hands slicked with sweat, one hand grasping the handle with a finger near the trigger, the other tight against the barrel. He pointed it haphazardly at each of the members, breathing heavily, the tip of the loaded spear glinting at intervals at the weapon was swung about.

For a moment, he simply stared at them, pointing the weapon at them, and breathing heavily. There was something that seemed like complete and utter desperation in his eyes.

The tension mounted as he suddenly started shouting.

"I can't find her. WHERE IS SHE. WHERE IS SHE ON THIS ISLAND? TELL ME!" It was clear that he was already beyond the edge of panic. "SOMEONE ANSWER ME NOW. WHERE IS NADINE?"

"Dodd?! You want to find Dodd? Aw, man..."

Dodd? She wants to find Adam-fuckin'-Dodd? Oh, lord. How the fuck'd that happen? I mean, shit...everyone knows the fuckin' rumours an' all that, but I didn't think there were any truth to 'em...

Suppressing a grimace, Keith Jackson couldn't help but flinch a little when Izzy Cheung revealed who she was looking to find. He'd been sitting on the path, resting for the wounded Izzy's sake, and had asked them who they wanted to find. Keith knew Trey's feeling, wanting to find his friends and all. But Izzy...

Fuck, that threw me for a loop. I mean, they're friends? Sure, I figured maybe they're spendin' some time workin' on some project or some shit, but damn...why is it that rumours end up being true after awhile...I mean, that girl's obviously hidin' somethin' there. If she wants to find the V1-wonder after all that, maybe it was all true...but fuck...I couldn't be true, I mean...I'd know, yeah?

Keith shook his head slightly.

I mean, fuck...I started 'em.

To be completely honest, Keith had balked a little bit at her other friend as well - Andy Walker. The queen bee of the cheerleading squad. Or perhaps; just a queen. Andy Walker wasn't someone that Keith associated himself with all that much, mainly because of the guy's tendancy to gossip about everyone in school. Keith'd had several rumours started about HIM by Andy Walker, and he couldn't say that Andy wasn't someone who'd try and revenge on Keith for being a part of that jocky, 'popular' crowd. That is, if Andy had it in him to be vengeful like that. Keith didn't consider himself homophobic by any stretch, but he disliked Andy Walker simply because at times, it appeared though the boy was trying deliberately to be as flamboyant as he possibly could.

Least some o' that shit's gotta be an act. Fuckin' Barney ain't like that, and I KNOW he's been fuckin' guys for years.

Keith's thoughts were about to drift to his cousin, when he was jolted back into reality by the emergence of a figure in front of them. It was more like a dual-shock kind of effect. The first shock was when the boy jumped out. The second shock was the fact that he was visibly upset, eyes bloodshot, and hands shaking.

Oh, not to mention the fact that he had a loaded speargun that he happened to be pointing at everybody. And if there was one thing that Keith hated, it was having a speargun pointed at him.

Quickly bringing his shotgun up into a defensive position, Keith instinctively stepped in front of Izzy, not even realizing that he'd done so. His finger twitched a little bit as he readied himself to have to shoot the boy in front of him. As it was more of a reactionary move than anything, Keith's eyes were wide with surprise as the kid in front of him shouted some girl's name out loud at them, demanding to know where she was.

"'EY!"

Keith shouted at the boy in his most commanding football-field voice that he possibly could. He'd been an assistant captain of the team this year, and he'd always jokingly said that it was because his voice could boom when necessary, and he was the only person on the team who could out-yell the coach.

Though not anymore, Coach's lyin' fuckin' dead in some room somewhere now...Jesus Christ...

Mentally wincing, he made a mental note to try and stop taking the Lord's name in vain. It was something he'd found himself doing far too often. Though, with a speargun pointed at his chest, he figured that the man upstairs would give him a bit of a break on this one.

"CALM THE FUCK DOWN, MAN!" Keith nodded hesitantly at the boy in front of them. "Man, you're lookin' for someone? Nadine?"

Stealing a quick glance at Trey, he shot his friend a helpless glance. He then looked back at the newcomer.

"You wanna' know where she is?"

Keith felt himself getting hot under the collar, and he supposed that it was because of the whole 'imminent danger' thing.

"Do I look like I'm made'a fuckin' maps!? How the fuck should I know where some chick I've probably never met is? I haven't run into anyone named Nadine, unless that was who tossed the fuckin' grenade into the cottage a while back. And if it was, bro - I got news for 'ya. She's already fuckin' far gone, you're better off not findin' her, if you catch my drift."

Holding the shotgun up, Keith didn't lower his aim for a second. He'd already fired it twice at the late Charlie Burchman, and it'd been an experience he wished he hadn't had to experience. A third time...well, at this distance, Keith didn't want to think about what might happen if he had to pull the trigger a third time.

"Now...howzabout you put that spear-gun down, CHILL THE FUCK OUT, and we'll talk without pointin' guns an' shit at each other? Kay?"

Trey really wasn't sure what to think of Adam Dodd. At first, he had talked about the boy with the other guys from the wrestling team, normal jock talk. Cause who wouldn't talk about someone who killed so many people and was the winner of Survival of the Fittest? Trey had never talked to the kid, and really didn't want to. He, like most kids from Southridge High and from any school for that matter, did hold a fascination for the boy in the beginning. It faded though, and went away, and Adam Dodd became just an after thought in Trey Leyton's life. He had more important things to deal with, like going to state for wrestling.

Maybe even winning state. Now he was on this island though, actually participating in the game that Adam once one, things changed. Trey didn't necessarily have such a strong opposition to the boy like Keith, but Trey wasn't about to say something to the likes of

"yeah! Let's go find Adam Dodd! He'll know what to do!"

Maybe it was safer to keep away from the boy who's killed so many people. Then again, Trey knew Izzy, she was a good person. She wouldn't want to meet someone who was going to turn around and make them his next victims.

Not that it would be easy, Trey didn't know Adam well, but Trey was confident in his abilities from the wrestling team, and Trey knew Keith could definitely hold his own. So maybe it wasn't such a huge risk to meet Adam. Hell, maybe it could be beneficial.

The more Trey though, the more he realized he was ok with the idea. What did he have to lose anyways?

That's when the boy appeared.

Trey was stunned, shocked, scared, you name it he probably felt it. He looked at the boy, and looked at his spear gun.

Oh great.

They had barely made it out alive from the lookout tower and this is what they encounter. Is anyone sane these days?

Trey looked at the boy. He looked familiar. Galen wasn't it? Trey didn't know his last name. The boy was shouting at them, aiming his weapon at them, wanting to know where Nadine was.

Who was Nadine? Faces and names flooded Trey's mind as he searched for who this girl was. He didn't know. Then again, he couldn't be expected to know everyone, maybe she was the girl he's seen her around with? His girlfriend?

Trey watched as Keith took action, aiming his shotgun at the kid, yelling back. Trey noted that Keith stepped in front of Izzy. Real noble man, real noble. Trey wasn't going to just sit back either, he was going to pull his own weight, and besides, he never let anyone push him around. It also doesn't help Keith had a shotgun.

Trey faced Galen, just looking at the boy. He gripped his nun chucks, moving his hand in such a way that if he had to strike, he could do it fast and deliver a powerful blow from the nun chucks. Trey didn't say anything. Better leave the talking up to Keith.

Izzy couldn't help flinching at the small outburst of sorts from Keith over her want to locate Adam, frowning in a small manner and looking off—slightly downcast as she glanced toward Trey, wondering perhaps what his reaction to all of this would be, biting down on her lip and focusing downward on the ground as she brushed against hand against her bandaged shoulder, she really didn't want there to be any problem with this... but she didn't want to give up finding Adam either, he was still her... friend, and that was more than enough for her. But in the end, she supposed this whole thing could be discussed later, most importantly they needed to find something worth being used as shelter for the night—not up at all for remaining out in the open like this for any longer than they needed too.

After all what if someone—

She found she barely had the chance to even finish the thought before a figure was bursting out of the nearby vegetation, not even looking at the person but focusing on the weapon he was armed with as he seemed to drift over all of them with it. Izzy finding herself unable to do little of nothing, a sharp pain easing through her arm and remembrance of what had happened not to long ago, hardly able to picture what that spear-gun was probably capable of doing to one of them. The boy's shouting leaving her ears ringing, unable to focus long enough to try and figure out the words, thankfully though Keith seemed to be more useful than she was turning out to be as he quickly moved, more or less blocking her view of the boy, shotgun raised and pointed.

What if something like last time happened? Managing to focus her mind long enough to listen to the words leaving Keith with a small sound, really just hoping once... glancing around Keith's shoulder Izzy gave herself a chance to actually get a good luck of the panic-stricken boy, his name escaping her at the moment just he was, rather new to the school wasn't he? Well perhaps not as new as Izzy would like herself to believe to make up for the lack of a name coming to mind, but he was on the tennis team. She knew that much – and if she wasn't mistaken so was this Nadine girl that he was going off about, focusing back on Keith as he spoke to the other boy into lowering the weapon and discussing the whole matter without the fear of someone being speared or blasted away with a shotgun.

"Yeah, Keith's right 'ya know?" She muttered, sifting a bit in her place, once more leaning over a bit to look past said boy. "I'm su-sure we could talk about this without having to flash and point these weapons around."

But really it hadn't even been that long since they had left the tower having just barely escaped that explosions, and dealing with the fact that she had been shot and now they where already dealing with someone else that was waving a weapon around? This was getting to be too much, but at the same time she just couldn't help but remind herself how bad it could get, remembering that talk between Adam and herself in her basement, all the scars and everything that had happened. With all that burning holes in her mind, she supposed now she was just glad that the boy had bothered to ask questions first instead of jumping in and impaling them with those things, then worrying about the questions.

Galen could only remember waking on that island to find himself lying against the forest floor, an ant crawling up his ear. The moment he had opened his eyes, he had jumped to his feet in a panic, if only at the realization that Nadine was no longer at his side.

Remembering what had happened only moments prior to the time when he fell unconscious had only augmented his panic. They were in this program to kill. This was the program that resulted in the devastation and death of many a student their age and younger. The need to be always be by Nadine's side and keep her safe had mounted steeply at that point. Galen had to find her. If she died...if someone hurt her... if someone killed her... Galen would have no idea what to do.

Searching for her to no avail had not done well to ease his state of mind. He moved blindly, searching for her, running into the underbrush in a crazed state of mind, pointing his designated weapon recklessly until he came across the first group of people encountered by him so far.

Which is exactly how he found himself in this situation now... with a shotgun pointed directly at his chest.

....Well this wasn't something Galen hadn't expected. To be honest, he wasn't looking to kill anyone at all...

...UNLESS THEY DARED TO HURT HIS PRECIOUS NADINE...

...but really, he was only using it as a way of directing his thoughts, a pointer of sorts, a way of catching the attention of the people he was currently addressing.

Yeah, no better way to garner attention from someone than to point a speargun at them, huh? ^_^;;;;

All at once, he stopped shouting, then blinked and stared slightly, quite startled as Keith bellowed at him to literally calm the fuck down and lower his weapon. His mind was gradually relieved of the cloud of panic that left his good sense in a haze as all members of the group in front of him turned to him...the other one, Trey, he faintly recognized, likewise came up, wielding the nunchaku.

And then he blinked towards the girl, one he recognized as Izzy Cheung, by face and name alone. He wasn't well acquainted with these three, given his short stay at Southridge....nevertheless...

It suddenly occurred to Galen.

Randomly pointing a speargun at random people...it was a bit rude, wasn't it? >.>

"...Eheh..." He calmed slightly at Izzy's words. "I...I guess you're right." He lowered his spear gun quickly, rubbing the back of his head, embarrassed and awkward. Sweat still ran down the side of his face, and he still looked askew with anxiety.

"I really wasn't going to shoot anybody," He struggled to explain himself. "Honest to God. I don't know what in the world came over me. I was looking for Nadine, but she..."

His eyes suddenly snapped towards Keith. "HEY."

He didn't point the spear gun at Keith again, but he did shake a fist. "How can you THINK to even SUGGEST something like that about Nadine?! She'd NEVER do such a thing! Tossing a grenade...? Nadine would never hurt anyone, so don't you even THINK it, alright?!"

It was almost comical...the way he was getting so worked up about defending his girlfriend's honour in the face of imminent danger...namely the barrel of the shotgun being pointed at him.

Despite Trey's stance and readiness to help protect his group from Galen, he was relieved when the boy came to his senses and lowered his spear gun and explained that he wasn't wanting to kill anyone. Trey didn't know what to take of the boys defense of Nadine. Maybe Nadine was the girl Trey's seen him with all the time. Trey let himself relax a little, but not much, his experience at the lookout tower teaching him better then to think your home free.

Then the announcements came on. Danya's voice seemed to surround him. He looked around trying to spot the speakers, he saw one near. Trey was quiet during the announcements, listening to all the dead, and the killers. Trey knew some of them. Like Eduardo Trinidad-Villa. Trey wasn't friends with he kid, but he helped him pass numerous math tests, which Trey needed a lot. The boy was killing now? It all seemed surreal. Trey didn't have too much time to ponder over that when the incidents at the lookout tower were discussed. Trey listened intently to Danya and his version of what happened. Wait.

That didn't happen. They made it seem like that kid with the golf club was innocent. He attacked Keith! They fought back in self defense! At least they knew the name of the girl with the grenade now. Ivye Dewley.

Trey didn't know what to think of this anymore. Danya lied about the events at the lookout tower. Well, he didn't lie, everything that he said did happen, but he left out key facts. People are going to think they're all murderers now.

Would Galen? Trey tensed up and said to the group, "He lied. I can't believe he lied. He's making us look like the bad guys."

Although Galen lowered his weapon, Keith kept his raised and ready, though didn't grip the stock as hard. Ordinarily, he was usually a pretty amicable person, but the whole 'people pointing shit at you that fires out the end' thing was getting old, and fast. Galen had come in ranting and raving about some girl or other, and Keith knew that if push came to shove, the boy would likely think with his small head, instead of his big one.

He was about to say something further about the situation when a loud crackling noise scared the hell out of him. This, of course, was the announcement - which would happen once a day detailing everything that was going on in the island. As he listened, Keith was very disturbed to hear that Danya was painting him and Izzy at fault for the death of Charlie, making it look as though the two of them were game players that had teamed up to eliminate the competition.

"What the fuck?"

Quickly looking at Trey and Izzy, he glanced at them helplessly, for answers that he knew they didn't have. Trey was already mumbling under his breath, and when he spoke up louder and proclaimed what Keith had surmised for his own, his anger simmered. This was ridiculous. As though he needed another target placed on his back; now the whole island thought he was a player.

The hell are my friends gonna' think now? Christ, Kallie's gonna be pissed as shit if she comes and finds me, after hearin' that. Ditto with Darnell. And hell, if Guy's playin' too? Who the hell woulda' seen that comin'?

Turning back to the situation at hand, Keith looked up at Galen, who hadn't yet reacted to the new information. Before the boy had a chance to react, Keith spoke up.

"That's all bullshit, man. That just ain't the way that it went down, if 'ya catch me. Fuckin' tubby bastard came up to me and whacked me a buncha times with a golf club or some shit...the fuck was I supposed to do, let him bash my head in? Yeah, I shot him, but he fuckin' hit me first. So don't go pullin' any hasty triggers there, bro. None of us wants any fuckin' trouble, not after that fiasco. I especially don't want a harpoon stickin' out of my neck or any shit like that, so..."

Keith trailed off. He wasn't about to make any idle threats, not when the boy hadn't reacted yet. He supposed that he'd leave that for when and if Galen freaked out and accused them of being murderers, and liars.

He supposed that it was only a matter of time; judging on the boy's behaviour only moments prior.

The Creme de la Creme

V3: B007 - Keith Jackson: At the end of the road he's running, looking back to survey where he's been.
V1/3: B077 - Adam Dodd: You either die a hero, or live long enough to become the villain. The truth lies somewhere in between.
V1: B087 - Sidney Crosby: It's only cowardice if other people are around to tell you so. Otherwise, it's survival.
V1: B092 - Eddie Serjeantson: Fully in charge, but not much of an arborist.
V2: B013 - Andrew Ponikarovsky: Probably could have used a proper license and a driving lesson.
V1: G005 - Amanda Jones: A breath of fresh air, and in the end, that was all it took.
V3: B099 - John Sheppard: Went out with a bang.
V3: B122 - Ryan Atwell: Couldn't help but write a "Dear John" letter.

Izzy couldn't help sighing and smiling a little as everyone seemed to calm down a bit and lower their weapons, and Izzy really just wanted to collapse again. She was tried, she had barely eaten a thing still yesterday, unable to believe they spent the whole night in this place without really even noticing, and her shoulder was on the verge of killing her it felt like, the whole damn arm laying pretty limb and useless against his side, it was even hard to move her fingers. How was she supposed to protect herself with a useless arm, sighing a bit and pressing her hand back against the bandage, gripping at her shoulder somewhat and carefully glancing back to Galen, able to agree with his want to find Nadine, able to agree a lot but busting in a people and point a damn speargun at whoever he came across probably wouldn't go over to well later down the road.

Though an odd sound almost caused a surprised noise to escape her as an odd crack sounding out through the jungle, and Izzy found her attention drifting upward toward the sky with a bit of a confused look. Then it rather all came back, what she had remembered reading about the past version, and what bits Adam had told her about, figuring these where the announcement where that fat bastard proud sat behind the microphone happily reading off the past days kills, and how actually did the killing—finding herself remaining absolutely still and quiet as she listened to the names being read off and the killers reasonable, some of them surprised her, some she wasn't... though when Danya went on to say something about telling a story of someone short she found her heart racing as familiar names and scenes began to replay in her mind.

She—she couldn't believe this.

"That's son of a bitch..."

She just couldn't believe this at all, "He's trying to get the whole island fucking turned against and make us out to be players." Izzy muttered, beyond just being mad, she was pissed to say the least. It was hard enough know who and who not to trust on this island, but with that fat bitch calling them out like that, twisting the truth and making Charlie look to be the good game... well that pretty much just put a red flag on both Keith and herself to the rest of everyone on the island, no long might they be able to talk before perhaps being shot at, now it was probably going to be nothing but being shot at. Unable to help the small sound that escaped her as she all but fell back into leaning against the tree, just really unable to take all of this piling on top of her. What she wouldn't do to be back on that bus playing around on her DS and talking with Adam... hell what she wouldn't do just to see her friends again before it might be too late.

Glancing back to Galen she couldn't help being suddenly worried about what might happen because of what Danya said, would he try and attack them, he seemed like a rather loose cannon and she really didn't want to see anyone getting hurt again. Listening and nodding in agreement, "We where protecting ourselves, even Trey can agree... he was there too." She muttered, biting down on her lip and hoping this wouldn't turn into another yelling match with weapons pointing everywhere, or worse someone actually being forced to use one of their weapon... Izzy really didn't think she'd be able to take hearing the sound of Keith's shotgun again.

"Like Keith said, we really don't want any trouble at all... we just want to find our friends like you want to find Nadine."
