Shelter from the Rain

A lighthouse, very reminiscent to the one used on the island for one of the BR ACTs. If used well, this could be quite the grand place to barricade one's self in, or gather a large group in.

((Continued from: Hiding))

Hawley found himself halting in his steps when they reached the lighthouse, the haunting sounds of someone’s pained screams tearing through the air, while a voice sung above it all, laughing all the while. Though besides the voices coming from inside, the two bodies resting outside also halted his movements.

It was expected, it wasn’t as if two dead bodies where going to get up and move – but truth be told he wish they could, August and Terry’s bodies still lay where they had fallen. August’s head turned up somewhat as if trying to spot something, a gaping hole where her neck had been. Terry on the other hand, rested on his back facing upward the only sign of a fight on him being the cuts from the hacksaw on his side, and arms and the fact his shirt was stained red.

Looking away from the bodies he watched lightly as Madeline broke away from the group, walking up toward the cracked front door of the building. Standing there only for a moment as she peered in, backing away from it all putting the other four of them between herself and the lighthouse, hands covering her face as murmured words spilled out.

“What's inside...?” He questioned lightly, already figuring what it could be.

Inside Blaine’s movement of raising and striking the axe into the fragile body began to slow and finally stopped altogether, as his singing did as well fading down in volume before coming to a stop altogether. Tears still stained his face along with the blood of his victim that also stained everywhere else.

“You said you wanted to be my friend… but you tried to leave.” He muttered in a harsh whisper, as he pushed a hand against the other’s shoulder, knowing full well what was happening. It had been like this when he had played with his pets’ back home, it was just like his father…

He wasn’t going to wake up again.

Pressing hands into the wooden floor now coated in the sticky red substance he pushed himself into a standing position, lifting his arms above his head, before crouching back down cocking his head as he overlooked the body and his handaxe still lodge in his face. Lifting one of his hands, he looked at the blood still there before licking lightly at one of his fingers as he used his other hand to fix his hat, as he kept crouched over the body.

A slow humming sound starting from him as he continued licking at his fingers, a slow song most children where sung too by there mothers as small children. A song that promised to keep all the nightmares away, and insure a safe dream world for their child to play in – Blaine was no different, his mother sung to him as well… before she went away.

As the pained wailing and maniacal singing came to a halt, Madelaine shuddered slightly as a cold, dark silence stretched out, with only the flickering sounds of the natural ambience around them. Madelaine froze in place for a moment, looking up only when she suddenly caught the vague, obscure voice of someone humming. Listening in silence to the slow lilting melody, Madelaine was somehow reminded of home.

She would be sitting by the bedside, patiently reading a book, waiting for Miriam to fall asleep. All the while, she would be humming various melodies. Some melodies would be from Japanese traditional children's songs, others from miniature piano works she had heard on the school radio. It would not be long until Miriam would be soothed into sleeping, and Madelaine herself found them calming.

But in this case, the lullaby did not calm her in the least. Rather, she felt blood draining away from her skin as chills crept through her veins. She slowly removed her hands from her face, revealing a withering expression.

"Someone was in there...using an axe...and...." Her voice trailed off for a moment, but then she went on. "I didn't see anyone else....other than the guy that he just.... I think he's alone, but.... he's not normal. Snapped...insane...probably." She turned away, resting her fingers against her lips, looking unsettled.

"We didn't hear any gun shots, did we? Perhaps the axe is the only thing he has...but what should we do now?"

((Amanda continued from: Hiding))

Amanda shivered involuntarily at the description of the carnage inside of the room. The look on Madelaine's face pretty much said it all. Apparently someone inside of the lighthouse was doing their best butcher impression on some poor, unsuspecting student. Amanda's heart sunk. God, it couldn't be Adam, could it?

Her stomach turned at the thought, and she stumbled a little. Perhaps it was the fact that there were also two bodies sitting outside of the lighthouse, and she knew both of them.

"Maybe...maybe we should go somewhere else...?"

The weak sentence was all that she could let escape from her mouth. She looked back at the group, feeling the blood rush from her face as she did, and waited for someone to make a decision.

Madelaine looked over at Amanda with a concerned look on her face. It was quite apparent that Amanda was worried sick about Adam, and with good reason as well. For all Madelaine herself knew, Adam might have ended up like the poor student inside the lighthouse by now, but she said nothing about this. Remembering the way Amanda smiled at the sight of Adam and looking at the state she was in now, just thinking such grim thoughts was too upsetting.

Though she, herself was filled with uncertainty, she walked over to Amanda and gently rested her hands against the other girl's shoulders. She smiled gently at her, and said in a low, kind voice. "Hey, its okay, we'll find him. ...If...if he had been around here, we probably would have heard a gunshot coming from this drection."

Backing away a bit, she pulled out her map, eyes scanning over it quickly. "A clinic...not too far from here. If Adam had been around and had gotten hurt, he might've dropped by, right?" She looked over at the rest of the company, waiting for their opinions.

Hawley nodded his head lightly, “Yeah. We should… go elsewhere.” He muttered lightly, not really wanting to deal with what was inside. If David did, from the way he seemed about ready to bust the door down and start shooting at anything that dared moved.

He could go right the hell ahead… Didn’t mean he was going to stay for the show.

The humming grew softer as voices reached Blaine’s ears, though continued as he pushed himself onto his feet. Cocking his head in curiosity at the new sounds, as he bent over at his waist. Pulling the handaxe from Jimmy’s face, and slowly moving toward the door.

Carefully placing his handaxe back along his belt loops in the back, he gripped a bloody hand around the doorknob. Pulling at the half open door, opening the lighthouse’s darkness into the light, he lightly licking at the side of his mouth where some more blood resided, overlooking the group with a slight chuckle. “Oh, more guests?”

Hawley had to admit, he wished they hadn’t came here… besides the fact of not wanting to see those bodies that lay at the front steps leading into the lighthouse. Now they where being greeted by a fellow Barry Coleson student, a member of the track team if he guessed right.

Of course, Blaine was now a member of the track team covered in blood, though currently in-grossed at licking at some that was currently trailing his wrist all the while staring at the group from under his hat. “Clinic? That sounds nice about now, if you wouldn’t mind the smell…”

Madelaine turned around at the sound of the door opening, and flinched in shock as she looked over the blood-covered figure that had just emerged. She had never seen this person before, but then again, the way he looked right now, blood and all was enough to make anybody unrecognizeable...make anybody look like a monster.

Just beyond the doorway, Madelaine could make out a blood covered mass that looked like a human form, only horribly deformed and mutilated in various places.

Her eyes contorted slightly, and she pursed her lips to resolute herself, stepping forward so that no one was in range between her and Blaine. In an instant, her fingers had found the cold grip of the pistol hidden safely inside the depths of her pocket. She drew it out with her left hand (the one she used to steady the bow in archery club) and aimed it carefully, deliberately at Blaine.

Her days at the archery club returned to her. Automatcially, her feet took up the usual stance. The nice thing was, her right hand was free. With that hand, she leaned it towards her pocket, where the curve of her tire iron was just peeking out. She saw the wooden target in her mind's vision, aimed it towards the bullseye, the centre of the chest-

Wait a minute....this was not some kind of practice round. This was reality and her target was a human being, a classmate like herself. A thinking, feeling, breathing target....

Once Madelaine realized what she was doing, her hands shook slightly, but she pursed her lips harder to keep her resolve. She was not going to shoot the boy, psychotic killer or no.

"Stay where you are!" She announced clearly and firmly. The harshness of her own voice surprised her, almost scared her even. "Stay put or I'll shoot!"

She motioned towards the others, indicating for them to go ahead while she made sure Blaine was kept in place. She stared at her target, trembling on the inside.

What in the world am I doing? she thought to herself. I'm not supposed to be doing this...

ooc(Damn you all and your inability to wait)

...Rush Limbaugh...DEAD!...Bill Lambeer...DEAD!...John Lennon...DEAD!...

A sadistic voice echoed throughout the loudspeaker at the race track, but Jimmy Moreland tried to keep his concentration....Edward Colon, DEAD!... He had to wait for the green light, Red, Yellow, Green! The race began. ...Mateen Cleaves...DEAD!... Jimmy was in first. He could see his little brother, Joey in the audience. His family was cheering for him.
...Nolan Ryan...DEAD!...Buddy Paige...DEAD!...Roger Morris...DEAD!
He rounded the first turn, making sure to slide up on the tank as he went, to whip the back end around. He preloaded to hit the first jump, and sailed in the air. He landed perfectly. Something was wrong, though. His jump was too perfect. ...Norman Chow...DEAD!...He then realized that he was not actually driving the bike. ...Nick Saban...DEAD!...He was watching from a first person point of view. Faster and faster around the track the boy went, hitting every turn perfectly. He finally came to the final jump. ...Uncle Joey...DEAD!... He sailed in the air, watching camera flashes capture his winning moment from every angle. Then he crashed. He felt a rib break as he hit the hard, packed dirt of the track. He spit up blood. ...Cory Harris...DEAD!... Huge red welts began opening in his back as he lied on the ground. He felt his face split in two and his left eye burst, spewing out clear fluid. He could feel himself dying. His brother was there, he just wanted to say something to him. He wanted to say...
...Mitch Albom...DEAD!...Stephen A. Smith...DEAD!...Jim Rome...DEAD!

...Jimmy Moreland #67...DEAD!...

Blaine’s grin formed into a simple frown as green eyes narrowed, his hand dropping from his mouth when the girl pulled a gun on him demanding he not move from his spot.

Looking over the group from his spot in the doorway leading into the lighthouse, though he found his attention trailing over to the young woman with the gun.

Oddly enough, she didn’t seem to be the same as Jacob – shoot, and then ask questions. She didn’t seem to want to shot him, just to keep him from touching her teammates.

Truth be told none seemed tempting to be friends… quite unlike Jimmy or Wednesday. They had been friendly, introduced themselves… agreed to being his friend.

Tilting his head back some, he glanced over his shoulder briefly when he took note that the wheezing breathing coming from Jimmy was no longer coming out. The grin returning as he turned back to the group, so his lullaby had worked.

Hawley felt a shiver pass over his body when the lighthouse door was opened to let light in, cascading over the deformed human form lying near the doorway.

...a pool of blood clear about it, hell if he wasn’t mistaken Blaine seemed to be wearing most of it – or licking it as he had been doing.

Snapping out of his thoughts, he reached out lightly taking a hold of Amanda’s upper arm. “Come on, she’s right… we need to start moving.” Releasing her arm, he overlooked the other two with them Marcus and David, hoping they would get the fact to move as he glanced toward Madeline, noting the look in her eyes as she looked toward Blaine.

“Come on.” He muttered toward her, removing his own weapon from his pocket, lifting it and pointing it toward the figure as well, watching for any sudden movements from the track member.

(Coming from: Hiding)

MARCUS WAS ANGRY. He saw the dead boy on the floor, and the other boy, who seemed to be lapping up blood as if it was milk. Marcus really wanted to put his hands around the neck of that vile creature. He ignored Hawleys urgent statement, and began to slowly walk towards the bloody thing. As he came near, he suddenly knew exactly what to say.

"Hi, I'm M-m-m-marcus. Want to be f-f-f-friends?"

Someone who could kill...without a hint of remorse...Marcus was burning on the inside. He planned on leaving another corpse on the floor of the lighthouse before the day was done.

Amanda Jones had to admit - at this point in her life - she was terrified. Both for herself, and for somebody else. The part about being scared for herself was nothing new - she was always concerned that she was living under her father's shadow, and did everything she could think of do get out from under it. That was no surprise. Being scared for someone else was something completely different. She had been feeling fear for a while now, and most if it was for Adam Dodd. She had been worried, scared, and concerned that all she would find when they eventually met up again was a charred corpse, Amanda having been too late. However, in this instance, it was not Adam that she was afraid for. In fact, it was the gentle giant Marcus that Amanda feared for. As she felt Hawley grip her arm and quietly urge them to go, she had began to walk away from the lighthouse, but as Marcus failed to come with them, she had stopped and watched the events unfold before her.

"Marcus...no..." Amanda whispered, terrified for the boy's life.

Blaine found himself stepping lightly back into the house as Marcus approached; this person was much bigger compared to the smaller boy. Once inside, his steps halting when he felt his ankle hit the head of Jimmy as he quickly moved his hand to grip the handaxe from his belt and bring it out before him.

When the question came, for once Blaine found himself shaking his head. This person didn’t seem nice – he didn’t want to be friends with mean people. “N – No. Go… go away. Leave Blaine alone!” He shouted, lifting his axe before him ready to attack if ready. “Blaine doesn’t want to be your friend.”

Hawley watched his lightly, stepping away from the two girls as he moved toward the lighthouse intent on doing something to halt Marcus from doing something that could get him ended up like the body on the floor inside.

“Marcus – Get out of there, before he kills you.” Hawley hissed, stopping a few feet from where Marcus stood questioning the other boy, who had since back into the lighthouse.

Marcus pointed at the much smaller boy in response to Hawley's statement. He then gave Hawley a "Gimme a break" look. He motioned for Hawleys pistol, and held his hand out for it.

"H-hhes a k-k-killer. W-w-w-we c-c-c-cant let him l-l-l-live"
Marcus spit the sentence out with unweilding resolve. He meant to end this. They could not all just walk away from an obviously insane psychopath! They had guns! They could easily get rid of him.

"Yeah, he is a killer. I bet you can see he's handy work of whoever that used to be, and that's the point of why we should get out of here before he does something." Hawley muttered hotly, shaking his head at Marcus's summon to hand over his pistol.

"We need to leave, there's no use in spilling blood now. He's time will come just like all the other killers on this island - everyone killing without remorse. Thier time will come, but it's not now for him... Come on Marcus."

Blaine whimpered lightly in his spot, keeping his eyes on both boys as he begun to lightly hum again as his thoughts began to race of what could happen - that big man wanted to kill him.

"Go away... go away!" He repeated, tears starting to spill again. "Just leave Blaine and his friends alone."

Marcus looked about to lunge at the boy, his muscles bulged as they tensed, and the grin that had been plastered to his face at the beginning of the game returned. He then seemed to think better of it, though, and his body relaxed. He turned from the insane, bloody creature, making a mental note of what the boy looked like. He really did not like walking away from a proven killer, and knew it would probobly come back to bite their little hero posse in the ass. He also knew, though, that Hawley was sort of the "leader," and to disobey him outright would cause a bit of trouble.

One thing was for certian, though, If Marcus stumbled over the psycho boy's corpse later, he would not feel an ounce of remorse.

Madelaine had nodded slightly in agreement to Hawley urge for the group to leave. Still keeping her eyes, and her aim, on the blood-covered figure, she sidestepped in front of Amanda as she began to walk away.

Her eyes had widened when Marcus approached the stranger suddenly, at first acting as though he wanted to befriend the boy. However, not only a few seconds later, Marcus expressed outright his desire to kill this stranger. Looking back at Blaine, Madelaine's gaze suddeny locked on to the tears suddenly falling down his face.

It did not appear as though the stranger was feigning tears. As he urged for them to leave, Madelaine was somehow reminded of a crying child. Perhaps she could relate him to one of the younger, more misfit children in her old elementary school who always got caused trouble without knowing the wrong they were doing. In the end, they always became confused and scared when they were being reprimanded by a giant, adult figure of a supervisor. Madelaine remembered always being the one to comfort her classmates in her elementary school, when everyone else would just look away. Even though they lashed out at her at first, they gradually calmed.

But that was the generation gap for you. Children are not born knowing what is right and what is wrong, and adults often overlook this. Children must be taught, guided, before they lead themselves astray, deciding for themselves what is acceptable and whatnot. Besides the fact that this particular case obviously did not come with a complete deck....perhaps this stranger, a boy who looked like their own age, yet spoke like a child, never had anyone to guide him. Perhaps...he knew not what he was doing.

As Marcus turned away to leave the stranger, her face relaxed, showing a slight weakness in resolve. Gently, she dropped the arm holding the gun, still looking towards Blaine.

To him, she said, more gently this time. "Please don't follow us, alright? I'm sorry if we scared you."

That was all she said before turning back to Amanda and Hawley, keeping close to these two in particular, the only two she could trust right now. After watching Marcus' outburst, she had reason to wonder exactly what this tall, giant of a teenager was capable of. She had the faint idea of David's capabilities, and because of that, she had no reason to trust him. As she walked away, keeping close to Hawley and Amanda, she looked back towards Blaine with a slight hint of remorse, despite all that she had seen him do.

She suddenly looked away from him, pressing a hand to her face as she walked away, only partially concealing a sickened, withering expression on her face.

Who am I to point fingers at now? she thought sullenly. After all...I just pointed a gun at someone, looking at them as though they were a wooden target, unable to feel happiness, fear, anger, or pain.
