Feed Your Characters To Icewind Dale

Hey, folks! As some of you probably know, I recently got a new computer out of the garbage and can seemingly now stream very basic/old games. This means it's time to follow up on an old threat and subject folks to Icewind Dale.

For those who don't know, Icewind Dale is a D&D-based video game from 2000. It's not very good. It's all of the worst parts of Baldur's Gate and none of the good ones. It strictly adapts the second edition AD&D rules, and is a brutal, poorly-balanced combat slog with rather limited story. Oh, and it sometimes does permadeath.

However, it allows you to import your own character portraits, and this combined with the inconsistent gameplay is a recipe for potential fun/amusement.

My intent is to play this for a little while. I'm planning to do it with no save scumming, but that may very lead to a near-instant party wipe and game over, so if that doesn't work we might get a little save scumming as a treat.

The big thing, though, is that I intend to build the party out of characters from the community. Thus, anyone who wants to offer their character can. There is one primary requirement: your character needs art of some kind. I also need to know in advance as the game requires extremely specific resolutions and file formats that made lots of sense 23 years ago and are significantly less everyday now.

You may also suggest your character's race, class, and alignment. Note that this plays by 2e rules. There are no warlocks or tieflings here! Core stuff only! (And I mean really core, 'cause we're not gonna be rolling with the Enhanced Edition)

I do not guarantee everyone offered will be in the party (party size is six). I'll be building it with an eye to balance/not getting wiped. However, if and when our brave heroes get eaten by wolves, that will represent an opportunity to bring new PCs in.

So, yeah, you can opt in one or more characters for the pool by posting in this thread. I'll probably pick a time to do the actual character generation and at that time we can argue about class, stats, and (sigh) alignment, as is tradition, but I'm doing this now so I have time to fiddle with the images and such.

Oh yeah, and you can totally go "All of them" or volunteer a few characters or whatever. This is real casual and we'll likely be kicking a few parties into the woodchipper over the course of this experiment.

I doubt 2E had genasi, and if I had to make Jasper in a D&D campaign, it would absolutely be either making him the subject of hot jokes or relating back to his swimming. So how about human bard RJ Blackburn instead? Can even use the one of him dressed as Seymour Krelborn!
