Little Bighorn

Phase 2 (13-24 Hours), PM for entry, paging Prim and Condor!

The customs office is a building located near the inland edge of the fishing village, built after American occupation for the purpose of facilitating the transportation and cataloging of resources and people passing in and out the village. On the outside, the customs office is a small, one story building disconnected from all other buildings in the village, boasting a single entrance and several tall windows. On the inside is a sort of waiting room. This room features several chairs sprinkled across the floor facing a teller stand, with several counters and low coffee tables in between. To access the teller stand, workers at the customs office used a door on one end of the waiting room, leading to the stand itself and to an employee room, consisting of several desks still stuffed with paperwork. Regardless of what room one is in, though, propaganda lines the walls; a number of posters celebrate the American way of life and the occupation of Mexico.

Damien nodded in agreement, feeling eager to get away from the bodies and to get a breath of fresh air. His head was still bugging him like crazy, but he didn't want Bridie to see him pass out or something like that. He didn't have time to worry about his small injury.... At least he hoped that it wouldn't come back to bite him in the butt at a later time, he was no doctor. So he was pretty clueless about these things. He wished that he did have more knowledge about it, maybe he should have listened to his parents about first aid. Well, it was too late now. So he didn't have the time to worry about it.

"Yeah, let's try to find somewhere else to rest without worrying about other people for now."

He then went to pick up his kama and his belongings and stepped out of the room, wanting to leave the place of death quickly.

Bridie's shoes were just simple black flats, rounded at the toe, a little black strap over her thick socks. She had three pairs of these and she liked them all because they were reliable and weren't confusing to figure out what to do with. Just put on socks and slip the shoes on over the socks. It was simple and fool-proof, and Bridie liked things like that.

Much as she didn't like... this. Whatever all of this was. The jumble of odd emotions and inscrutable thoughts, vague cacophonies of fears dredged up from some part of her brain she hadn't even known had existed until she'd driven the air from a boy's lungs until his spirit was cast away from his shell...

She could still think, however. She took deep calming breaths, perhaps a bit pitchy as she struggled for sanity and control.

She could still focus. The important thing to remember was, she was doing her duty. She was a good citizen, a fighting patriot.

Thinking like that eased the bubble of nausea knotting up her stomach just a little, at least. Bridie was able to pep up her step a little as she departed after Damien. Step one, step two. Left, right. Marching time, as she let that soul-invigorating military brass rattle in her head.

But the more alien, evil thoughts of faithlessness still lingered. She couldn't make them go away, she could only hope and wish they would.
