Far-Off Deconfirmed Future AU Character Concept Thread
This is a character concept thread, except specifically for AUs that have been teased but not confirmed. Have ideas way too far in advance for games that may not actually ever run? This is the thread for them!
So, I've talked about her a few times in chat, and I should probably explain who she is.
Esme Fournier (2upers)- Yup, it's anti-psychic shield girl.
Dead Spot (the current official name of her ability) allows her to, essentially, be immune to many psychic abilities, which I'm defining as anything involving someone using their mind to perceive and influence others. For example, if you try to mind control her she'll just get confused and snark about it a little. Trying to read her thoughts or perceiving her emotions would probably result in a hard blocking sensation and nothing coming up. If someone tries to use something like clairvoyance to check in on her, any visuals or sounds coming from her would be heavily distorted (my current headcanon is that it looks vaguely like getting blocked in Black Mirror: White Christmas, but it'd be even less apparent that you're looking at a person). If someone with similar illusionary abilities as, say, Lily, try to use it on her, there's a good chance she wouldn't see anything at all. The field extends to some feet around her, so she can hide objects within that range.
Naturally, with a gift like that, people approached Esme to ask her to do various odd tasks for her. Stuff like 'Hey, I'm going to a party I'm not supposed to be at, mind going with so my telepath mom won't find out?' or 'Keep watch at the party so the snooping neighbors will be less likely to call the cops' or 'take this big thing of beer and bring it to the party'. And, well, if everyone keeps asking you to do things, you should start asking them to pay you, thought Esme. And that's what she does! If you kid is doing morally grey or questionable things, you can just ask her to cover for you so that anyone with those pesky psychic abilities will have a harder time figuring up what you're up to, all for a small fee!
Personality-wise, she's cool-headed and practical with a sarcastic sense of humor. She's the type to go 'lol' if you try something on her she's immune to. And, well, she has a lot good problem-solving abilities, as shown by her not only knowing how her power works in detail, but also how to essentially monetize it. And because she's often sought out by the troublemaker and party-going crowds, she tends to get lumped in and perceived as somewhat sleazy, which isn't helped by the fact that she's the kind of person who'd help people break the rules or otherwise do morally grey things if there's a benefit to her. Aside from her little side business, Esme has a bit of a retro 80s/synthwave/outrun-y vibe to her, in that she likes a lot of older media, and tends to present herself in that aesthetic. Because her Gift means she cannot experience a lot of altered states induced by powers, she has an interest in more mundane ways of achieving it, such as lucid dreaming, hypnosis, and, yeah, she has done at least weed before. She also has a small collection of houseplants.
And yeah, she's been called Bella Swan before, lol.

Went to make this thread now that Survival Of The Fastest has been confirmed only to find out I'd already done so almost two years ago.
Basically, my plan is to write a character who styles herself as some sort of gonzo journalist-adventurer. Wrote a wildly popular memoir giving lurid details about time spent as a captive of a mysterious group of post-apocalyptic cannibals.
Only, the problem is, when some people finally go to look into the story for various reasons, the ones who come back alive report that there's no sign of any sort of cannibals at all resembling those depicted in the book. Suddenly, everything is cast into doubt—is this a case of (gasp) literary dishonesty?
Faced with such an existential threat to her reputation, there's only one choice: make the next book something so obviously true that nobody could possibly doubt it. And thus the plan becomes to ride along as a passenger on the death race.
But things go wrong almost right away, when the car in front kicks up a rock while starting off and it goes through the windshield, instantly killing the actual driver. Faced with a decision between throwing in the towel or trying to salvage things by field-promoting to driver, there really is only one choice...

A wandering knight (in a heavily armed steel horse) with only one mission: revenge, against who burned down his kingdom, kidnapped the princess, and enslaved his people; with the power of his magic wands, his bravery and his sidekick Fleur, he'll stop at nothing to bring justice!
...this in a fantast novel. The truth depends on who you ask.
His name is actually a title, coming from the car he drives, a Lancia Rally 037, heavily modified and fitted with more than enough weaponry to face the race.

I’ve got one for Survival of the Fastest!
Otis Wall: A former mechanic who lived through the end of the world, he hid out with his family in a bunker in their backyard until it was unearthed by a small group of scavengers ten years later. What they found was Otis had eaten his entire family.
The bunker had actual food in it, by the way, enough to last so that he didn’t need to do that.
Since everything was super fucked at that time, he was able to get this group of scavengers to make him their leader, after which they got around to scrounging some moterbikes together so they could pillage settlements and eat people (note: I am not saying these are the same cannibals weasel mentioned, unless they’re into that idea in, in which case I’m open for discussion). Otis specially liked eating babies, it’s like his favourite thing.
That lasted until the eventual crackdown on that sort of thing, forcing him into hiding. He’s re-emerged because, as he approaches senior citizen status, he is hoping to use the race to wish for immorality, so that he can never be punished for his actions because, again, baby eater.
His vehicle is a heavily modified Harley Davidson he calls Deilia. It’s basically just a giant wheel with a pair of guns attached to the front.

I've got two potential ideas, one for Project Hellbent, and one for my own setting, Survival of The Fastest!
Project Hellbent: Franklin Cash, this cornfed Mississippi boy was always in and out of prison growing up. From possession with intent to sell, to various cases of assault and battery, and liquor store robberies Frankie boy couldn't keep himself out of jail culminating in him becoming a death row inmate after killing someone in a failed stick up. Now, this tatted up trailer trash is leader of the most rabid gang of skinheads on the block. While he'd rather be in charge inside prison than a nobody out on the streets, he'd much rather not ride ol' sparky as his way out, so of course he signed on the dotted line. Unfortunately for him, he's in for something much, much worse.
Survival of The Fastest: Kurgan Van Halford is infamous amongst the wastelands. Leader of the Electric Funeral, a vile carnival of a gang of hair metal dressed barbarians who's acts of sadistic depravities make De Sade look like Dr. Seuss; the only thing worse than being killed by them is being taken alive. Kurgan is the worst of them all, his men serve his beck and call, they revere him as an angel in mortal flesh, the patron saint of carnage and cruelty, and maybe there is some truth to that statement. Kurgan looked positively angelic, or at least he used to, before last season's race had caused him to windshield cannon from his custom ride, and face plant into hot South Carolina asphalt at 120 mph. Miraculously, the warped freak survived, though now he is as ugly on the outside as he always was on the inside. He's taking part in this tournament to wish for the only thing he's ever loved back; his good looks.
Kurgan drives a customized hot pink lowrider limo made from the combination of a 1958 Chevy Bel Air and Biscayne he calls the Turbo Lover. It's armed with a nitro booster, a bastard child of an M1919 Browning and industrial sized flamethrower on the hood, and Sonic Blaster speakers loud enough to shatter glass and restart a vehicle's battery in close proximity. This glammed out gore machine also has REAL leather seats! Warning, leather seats are made of human, if you're close enough to notice, you are in some SERIOUS DANGER!!!

A character concept for Survival of the Fastest and a completely unhinged one at that.
While EllisWilson mentioned a crazed former mechanic turned cannibal, I want to introduce a character who is completely fucked up in all calibrations.
Quentin Topsy: If there is one major theme and sin that I want to use to represent Quentin, it's the simple sin of: GREED.
Born as a diagnosed psychopath with the lack of feeling guilt or sympathy for the suffering of others, his time during the Cold War would not help his case, as he immediately went off the deep end, when he was forcibly assigned to be the bunker's doctor. This led to some obvious consequences, until he would kill the rest of his fellow bunker mates and family, before he ventures out into the wastes.
What would change his life was his realization that organs were a hot commodity for what was left of the ultra-wealthy, who needed fresh new organs to treat their illnesses and health. Not wanting to waste a perfect opportunity and finding a purpose, he would open up a clinic to lure unsuspecting victims in, so he can cut them open alive and take their organs, along with some "trophies" of some of his "favorite patients".
His vile acts of crimes against humanity would eventually led to him getting some financial backing from said ultra-wealthy, since he was trading in fresh organs and blood for those who were willing to pay complete top dollar for them. He would gain several fellow raiders turned extortionists, who would pillage communities unlucky enough to be defenseless, killing, maiming, and/or torturing people for their organs, no matter how young or old.
However, his crimes would catch up to him. Filled with vengeance, a band of hired bounty hunters and wrathful survivors with nothing to lose, have started to hunt him and everyone associated with him down. Seeing the writing on the wall, Quentin signs up for SOTF, so he can have a twisted wish in mind. His wish? Win the tournament, so that Mr. President will pardon him of all crimes and allow him to expand his empire of extortionists to ensure a "potential harvest" of victims for the organ-selling business in genocide levels of causalities.
In terms of a vehicle, Quentin with some assistants drive around in a classical 1959 Cadillac Ambulance with armored panels and attached weaponry. Word to the wise... if you're unlucky enough to end up Quentin's ride, you will be wishing for death.

Got one for Project Hellbent:
Barry Cotton was a nebbish science teacher for first graders. He still lived with his parents, had no dating prospects, and just adored his charges, so it comes as quite a shock when he is arrested, charged, and convicted for the sickening murder of a five year old girl.
Barry will tell you he’s innocent, that the police didn’t wanna put the work in and went for the easy route. He might be right, as the evidence against him wasn’t all that concrete, but that won’t fix the mess he’s in.
Desperate to get back the life that was stolen from him, Barry signs up for the project as soon as he is able, reasoning that it can’t be any worse than his current situation.
Oh, how wrong he will turn out to be.

I might as well list down two characters for possible AU's!
Ailwin De Vonte / Project Hellbent:
My big-time artist-turned-cold-blooded killer! Ailwin used to be an art illustrator for several book covers, murals, and product labels before being scouted by an art critic. From there, things were looking up for him. He was being recommended for any art commissions, opened up galleries at several museums, and even got married to an astonishing novelist. But as time passed, the pressure of being the best began to take a toll on Ailwin. The public criticized his art style as becoming more "bland" and "uninspiring." Not only did his need to achieve greater goals affect his mental state but also his social life. His wife complained more about putting his work first instead of her while his friends drifted away. One day, he found out that his wife had slept with one of her friends long ago. He tried to get an explanation from her, but she completely ignored him. So, he did the most reasonable action: killing her.
When he gazed at her lifeless body, a sudden jolt of brilliance inspired him to create more art pieces; All he had to do was use his wife as a "muse." A week later, Ailwin released several artworks with a deathly theme, all colored red. Soon after this release, his popularity skyrocketed beyond the moon and stars. He continued to release more morbid artworks until he was caught by the police trying to kill an old friend of his. He would serve his sentence until one day, a unique opportunity arrived.
"Kreeck" / Survival of the Fastest:
My crazed post-apocalyptic preaching bug boi!! Kreeck ventures to the wastelands spreading the words of the gods. Most of his preaches say that to bring peace against the rising soviet powers, they must unite to become a stronger force. His teachings have proven influential to the masses by giving him many followers willing to follow orders from a divine vessel. The only problem with him was that he wanted to spread his influence to greater lengths. So when he heard about a death race to meet Mr. Presidsent and be granted any wish, he couldn't let the opportunity pass. His main vehicle is a jeepney operated by seven people "happily gifted" by raiders. The outside is decorated with thoughts and prayers written on paper and many religious symbols of Kreeck's mass following. Although heavily armored, there aren't many stationary weapons for the vehicle.
Although he believes to be a vessel of the holy gods above, he used to be human. Before the ravages of the Cold War, he and a group of survivors bunkered down as the bombs dropped. They would've continued to survive underground until five years later, an airborne radiation wave leaked into their air filtration units. By the time they noticed, it was already too late. Many of the bunker's occupants were soon exposed to the fallout above the surface and were now affected in numerous ways. Some had lost their sense of humanity and reason while others became physically weak. Many years later, a group of raiders stumble across an old, decrepit bunker only to find a single mutant occupying the space.

His main vehicle is a jeepney operated by seven people "happily gifted" by raiders. The outside is decorated with thoughts and prayers written on paper and many religious symbols of Kreeck's mass following. Although heavily armored, there aren't many stationary weapons for the vehicle.
Although he believes to be a vessel of the holy gods above, he used to be human. Before the ravages of the Cold War, he and a group of survivors bunkered down as the bombs dropped. They would've continued to survive underground until five years later, an airborne radiation wave leaked into their air filtration units. By the time they noticed, it was already too late. Many of the bunker's occupants were soon exposed to the fallout above the surface and were now affected in numerous ways. Some had lost their sense of humanity and reason while others became physically weak. Many years later, a group of raiders stumble across an old, decrepit bunker only to find a single mutant occupying the space.

Also, even though these ideas may not be approved (yet), I decided to make a few characters just for them!
CODENAME: "Maroon" / SOTF: ROGUE
My mischievous & sneaky lil' thief! Maroon is a highly recommended robber who can easily steal anything her buyer needs; From money, jewels, and artworks, to secret files with enough information to imprison someone for life. Originally, she was the daughter of a very abusive and dysfunctional family. While she did study to become a lawyer, she erased her identity a week after she graduated. She soon went into the criminal world to start as a con artist, coming up with many ways to exploit people for their money. But after seeing many times how hard it was to get them to budge, she thought it would be way better to steal their money from them. With her occupation changed to a highly skilled rogue, she quickly made more money than the people she stole from.
During a mission tasked to steal a valuable item from a world-famous actress, she happened to stumble across (this would've been the part where she would've met with another handler's character who was an assassin.), who was tasked to kill the actress herself. Long story short, it resulted in the actress's death along with the burning of her house, which didn't end well with the two criminals. But despite their unpleasant introductions, Maroon saw potential in a collaboration. The assassin was skeptical of the possibility but agreed to the idea. The plan was to work together for a while, but the two soon became an unstoppable duo. It was also when Maroon fell in love with her partner. With a serious talk, she and the assassin both planned to finish off one last mission before starting fresh in a new country with new identities. Luckily, their next target is located in South Korea.
Acaylah Jaisuke “AJ” Hawke / SOTF: DEAD-END
My college dropout who's becoming a rockstar! AJ was a college student at the Golden Gates Institute studying chemistry. They dream that by graduating, they will become a chemical engineer. However, within three semesters in their major, she could already feel her mental health slowly chipping away. Her dream of learning chemistry became a full-on nightmare. However, with much time to decide on her future, she quickly dropped all their classes and started fresh. They learned about their newfound passion for music and created a band called "Stags & Boulevards" with the help of some of their college friends.
They quickly became popular in their hometown of San Fransisco and continued to create more songs after the success of their first two albums, "The Late Hours" and "Low Rides." After landing gigs with a few out-of-state concerts and music festivals, AJ used the opportunity to release new songs to promote their newer album, "Messed Up Night." A week before the outbreak, S&B would've been on the road to Las Vegas, just coming from San Diego. But as the group was blocked off by traffic, they noticed people attacking each other, and blood, tons and tons of blood. The group soon realized they were in the middle of a zombie outbreak. With no choice, they took a long, periling journey back to San Fransisco. Unfortunately, San Fran was also caught in the Zombie Infection.
