Zorin Boddicker

#1

Post by ItzToxie »

Name: Quantum Machine ΠMi-IIV Zorin Boddicker
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Hobbies and Interests: Video games, programming, computer hacking, boxing

Appearance: Zorin looks little-to-nothing like his father, something he relishes; where his father is tall, at 6'1", Zorin is much shorter, at only 5'8". At 140 pounds, he has a light but dense build, narrow but packed with musculature; anyone who underestimates his physical abilities will be surprised by his ability to punch far above his weight physically. He has light skin that befits his heritage being of English and Afrikaner Vryburger descent.

Zorin has an angular, skeletal look to him with his triangle shaped face with a high forehead, pronounced cheekbones with shallow cheeks, and pointed jawline. He’s hook nosed, with a thin pair of lips. His sunken, upturned eyes are given a pronounced look with a helping of Raccoon style guyliner.

His hair is chaotic and messy, almost a material representation of his rebellious essence as if designed to anger his father. The straight brown locks get styled into a narrow but long twin hawk style; when alone, he lets them flop over his head and face, but when with others, he gels his hair into towering spikes. Faded traces of multicolored hair dye—green, red, blue—fleck out amongst the brown like little splatters of paint.

His fashion is just as eclectic and disordered, his outfits designed to be eye-piercing and eye-catching. Zorin wears loud, lurid patterns, and his clothes are often rather tacky despite being able to afford better. On the day of the network attack, he wore a red Hawaiian shirt with its collar peeking out from under a sleeveless shirt with the Watchmen smiley emblazened on it, itself underneath a black leather jacket, some ripped blue jeans under a studded belt and red suspenders, and a pair of combat boots with acid green laces.

His Avatar looks the same as he does in the Real World.

Background: Quantum Machine ΠMi-IIV Zorin Boddicker, pronounced "Quantum Machine Ethel Mi-Eye-Eye-Vee Zorin Boddicker", or, as he vastly prefers, simply "Zorin," was born in Hawthorne, California. His father is Ezekial "Zeke" Boddicker, a Pretoria-born business magnate and investor; his mother, Elise Smith, is an author. The two were, and are, unmarried, the relationship falling apart after Zeke abandoned the family.

He has many step-siblings, older and younger, from almost all of whom he remains estranged due to his father's philandering; he has not spoken to any of them in at least a decade. He is, however, a twin and has a sister—Zoe—who is older than him by several minutes; the two are very close, and Zorin, while the younger of the two, is deeply protective towards their older sibling, taking unkindly to any perceived attack on them.

Like many unpleasant things in his young life, Zorin's name originates from his father, an eccentric egomaniac who strong armed his mother into giving the twin siblings odd titles to fit a running theme. That name was the first—and last—thing his father ever gave him, as—just as he had many times before—he dumped them into the custody of their mother and never looked back; Zorin and his sister consider him a deadbeat.

Due to his father's sudden abandonment, Zorin and his sister grew up in precarious financial circumstances. As a result of Ezekial and Elise not being formally married (instead being long-term partners), she could not sue him for his assets, and due to an unwillingness to contribute, combined with his various connections allowing him to pay the bare minimum of child support through court, they grew up in the lower-middle class despite being the children of a multimillionaire. A believer in sink or swim, he refused to contribute beyond what was legally required.

Growing up, Zorin was bullied thanks to his name and upbringing. Usually, the bullying would only stop when Zorin’s older sibling came to his defense. This led to him becoming reclusive and adverse towards company, outside of his immediate family. This combined with Zorin’s lack of aspirations or drive also meant he had middling grades.

As a result, Zorin's family struggled until, in middle school, his mother's first publicly-released work of fiction, a sci-fi novel named BloodCode, was picked up by a publisher, becoming successful, if not outrageously so. As a result, the family's income was able to pick up, further bolstered by the sales of its sequels, BloodCode: Software Rot and BloodCode: Anti-Pattern. They currently reside within the upper-middle class.

In the final years of middle school, Zorin's older sibling came out as a transgender girl named Zoe. Knowing that while their town—now San Jose, California, where they moved after the book sales—was a progressive place, Zorin still felt worried that others would target his sister for her gender identity. As a result, he took up boxing lessons to protect her if someone bullied her; he hasn't had to use them yet.

His mother accepted Zoe's identity. Zeke did not take the news so kindly; Elise had told him, hoping it would help rekindle his connection to the family. He went on a prolonged social media tangent about how the quote-unquote "LGBT mind virus" was destroying his family because of woke moralists. Zoe took her mother's surname as a result. Zorin only keeps Zeke's surname because he wants to make Zeke look bad.

Around this time, due to his mother's research into software programming to help write her novels, Zorin discovered what would soon become two major hobbies of his: programming and computer hacking. The BloodCode series depicted heroic hackers able to give a finger to the system using their coding, which resonated with the young Zorin, who was resentful of the system and those, like his father, who gamed it.

He taught himself to code. At first, it was by making mods for games like Team Fortress 2 and Garry's Mod, but he later expanded to learning HTML, C++, Python, and Lua; he is currently teaching himself Java. At first, his interest was strictly in programming, but as he began to stretch his code-writing muscles and learned what he could do with his newly discovered tools, Zorin began to push further—into the realm of illegality.

It started with distributed denial-of-service attacks on the web hosts of botting sites for the game Team Fortress 2 and targeted attacks on pro-Nazi Garry's Mod roleplay servers. Soon, it escalated to bolder attacks on more prominent anti-LGBT websites. By the time he was in high school, Zorin tried to DDoS the website for his father's latest venture and got caught. The next day, he spent the night in police custody.

The only thing that stopped him from being arrested was Zeke Boddicker's intervention. Zeke expressed his disappointment and irritation towards Zorin; he expected that Zorin would be grateful to him for the intervention and, in his own words, shape up. Zorin went ballistic on him and got kicked out of his car. The two of them parted ways on even worse terms than before. All Zorin learned was to be more careful next time, applying proxies, VPNs, and other tools to ensure online anonomity whenever possible, the exceptions being his attempts to besmirch the Boddicker name or to troll certain adversaries he knows won’t strike back.

As of now, he's returned to harmless trolling and coding, biding his time for when the opportunity arrives to test out his improved skills and scripts. His favorite targets happen to be streamers and internet grifters who've drawn his ire, Zorin always putting his focus on people who in his mind are needing to be taken down a peg. A particular favorite target of his is the Omega Squad, as their close proximity means he gets first hand reactions and sources outside of what he'd find on social media later that day, on top of the fact that it’s one of the few times he can claim responsibility without the risk of repercussions. On top of that, he's managed to create his own scripts and injections for various games, websites, and even the Cyberspace. He refuses to sell his codes or make them open source however, as he doesn’t trust your average skiddie to not abuse those functions upon those Zorin deems innocent.

In school, Zorin has middling to average grades outside of his specialties, with Zorin only seriously applying himself to things he’s passionate about. He still continues to do boxing training for the sake of exercise, enjoying the discipline and security he gains from it. While Zorin is not the most sociable, he is rather easily recognized, both due to his appearance and reputation. He’s been marked as somewhat of a potential problem child by the school due to his known hobbies, however hasn’t had much discipline action taken against him, as the worst he’s done was teach other students to bypass their equipment’s surveillance features, whilst Zorin himself prodded at the school’s security measures, never doing anything beyond that like damaging or replacing files, as Zorin is not one to damage other people’s systems for the sake of it.

Personality: Zorin is campy and eccentric online, when he wants to be known. He mascarades himself as a tricksteresque character straight out of a 1990's hacker tropes page, portraying a smug and obnoxious aura, deliberately built to cause annoyance, all for the sake of gathering better reactions. For the most part however, he prefers to stay undercover and low key, letting whatever reactions he gathers from his tricks speak for themselves.

In realspace, he's much more subdued, and depending on the location, either much more legitamately friendly, or much more wound up and tense, like a coiled spring.

Reputation: Zorin is known as a weirdo to his friends, and within his space, well known for his antics and abilities. Outside of these friend groups, he tries to remain incognito, though his appearance and reputation proceeds him, especially after the stunt with his father. Despite his attempts at lying low, he carries an air of intimidation around him, either due to his appearance, or due to his deeds, and it's often for him to be blamed for online antics, even if he wasn't the perpetrator.

Hello there! There shall be critique.
[+] .
For the sake of standardization of profiles we haven't done parenthetical clauses in the Appearance/Background section, so please integrate stuff like
(being of English and Afrikaner Vryburger descent)
into the body of their sentences.

You didn't give his face any details like eye color, prominent features, so on.

Watchman would be capitalized.
and a pair of combat boots with acid green laces.
His Avatar looks the same as he does in the Real World.
Missing a paragraph break here.
taking unkindly to any perceived attack on them
Missing punctuation.

In the state of California Zeke would be legally obligated to pay child support regardless of how little he is around if Elise pushes for it in court. Perhaps Zeke's wealth either intimidated Elise into not pushing it or Zeke was able to pull off some dubious court shennanigans but I'd want that all specified, as is Zeke should be paying some child support without justification as to why not.

Could you offer some brief details into Zeke's early childhood prior to his mother becoming successfully published? Most important to me: how he was socially in school, how he performed academically, early interests.
"sink or swim,"
For air quotes I'd also exclude these from a profile for tonal reasons and just include whats being said in the sentence.

Does he engage in boxing solely to protect his sister, or does he enjoy it in any way of its own merits? Likes it for the exercise, the discipline, friends he makes, etc.

Does he program only Real World computers or does he also have skills in programing/performing cyber attacks in Cyberspace?

What was he up to in Sycamore High, socially, academically, so on? Especially given that he has a personality that is annoying and over-the-top.

VPNs is capitalized.

Missing a paragraph break between the two paragraphs in Personality section. Also missing one between Personality and Reputation section.
That's it.
