Phasing Out Gendered Profile Numbering?
Conducting a little temp check
TBH the terrorists in main and sc could also change it. There could be a lot of reasons- its hard to keep track of (in my experience one list is better than two), theres so many non-binary kids they sorta just gave up after two terrorists debated nonstop if they G18 or B18 for three hours, etc. IDK tho.
I think main should fix it too tbh but I’m not involved in that scene

As a general rule for me, if the only good reason to do something is "it's the way it's always been done", then we don't have a good reason. I'd much rather err on the side of inclusivity vs exclusivity and if we need to fudge some IC rationale to do it, then I'm totally fine with that.
I'm also not personally attached with keeping Second Chances 100% in line with how main works considering that SC includes a bunch of non-main versions. Seems like a very small issue to leave behind something that is rapidly becoming a relic.

It honestly never really made sense to begin with? Like, as you said, in BR it's based on class number. American schools don't have class numbers, so why have them? It just feels like a weird early version thing that didn't make a huge ton of logic even back then and is only still being used because that's how it's always been. So, I wouldn't mind it gone, especially since it allows for a bit more inclusivity.

the 'we've always done it' is not a good reason to keep something alongside of the 'if it aint broke'

Without going too into it, I've been pretty set on this more or less since the original discussion petered out. I'm glad that it's something Main decided to follow up on as well, but on a general philosophical level I'm less concerned with remaining in step with what other people are doing than I am in making improvements (which is to say, we're not gonna avoid doing something just to preserve, say, SC matching up—SC takes its cues from each of the universes in different ways)!

I found the genderless numbering mechanic worked pretty well for U, in retrospect.
