Drowning in a Glass Half Empty

[PRIVATE]

Holding hundreds of people at its maximum capacity, this hotel features a beach front pool, and nearly every room has a view. However the most common complaint that the management used to get was the paper thin walls, and how easily the building carried noise.

He was mumbling, begging for release. His arms flailing weakly as he struggled in vain.

There was nothing he could do. If he cut the rope, he'd just drown. Better he die in the way he wanted to.

He answered, a single word.

"No"

"No."

The word stung Sean as he looked up, breaths becoming shallower and movements weaker as time took its toll...but his vision was still clear.

"P...please...pro...mised"

A gentle breeze caught Sean, causing him to rock back and forth, slowly twisting as he still fidgeted and twisted...waiting for an end to come that stubbornly refused to. And while it felt like it had been hours to Sean, but he'd probably only been out there a minute or so.

He watched as he began to grow limp, slowly dying before his eyes.

His sick smile grew, crooked, cocky, and showing off his teeth. It was almost vampiric. Hell, he looked pale enough, and had enough blood on his hands to be a vampire. But it was more deranged than anything else.

"Nothing I can do... This is the fastest I can make it."

Sean didn't nod...the rope was placed such that nodding was somewhere between 'excruciatingly painful' and 'impossible'...but he forced a smile to show he acknowledged hearing the words even as he failed to notice the grin on Zach's face.

Thanks anyway...not your fault, Zach...you tried, we tried...shit happens...

"G...good...luck..."

Finally, Sean's vision began to narrow and darken as his face suddenly turned red; the final few words were painfully choked out, and a moment later, Sean's windpipe collapsed the rest of the way. Though it took a few more seconds for him to black out, Sean did see the end coming, finally, and his eyes rolled back in his head...

Urk...took long enough...see you later...bye...

After he blacked out, Sean's body twitched a bit before settling into a final position: His head leaned forward, the hood of his sweatshirt casting a shadow that obscured his eyes from view, his tongue slightly protruding from his mouth, and bits of blue appearing on his fingers and lips. Whenever a breeze caught it, Seans body slowly swung in the breeze, spinning slightly as his blank eyes stared out, into the pool.

He was dying... And... He was smiling. Like there was something good, just at the end of his life.

No. What was he thinking. It was probably just the lack of oxygen, making him hallucinate. Or something.

Then the smile faded, his eyes rolled into the back of his head. He was dead.

He turned to the camera. "Sean Davidson, Team Whatever the fuck his team is, Deceased" He said, his voice cold and distant.

He climbed back down the steps, his feet clanging on the cheap sheet metal.

And then, he sat down in the chair, where Sean had sat, just moments before.

He'd... Killed him. Killed him.

He'd done nothing to deserve it.

There was no reason for him to have done it. No reason for it to have been so... Painful, other than that he hadn't tried hard enough... Other than that that was what he'd made it.

He looked hard into the distance.

He wasn't going to cry.

He wasn't.

He was stronger than that

He'd asked for it, and he was a kill closer to home.

And he had a new reason to get there; For Sean.

There was nothing to be sad about.

So why was he so fucking sad?
