Apart from the rest of the resort sits a bizarre structure. Looking out of place with its jagged, fairy tale castle design, the Ice Palace contains a full size ice rink as well as a café area. Originally conceived as a gimmick for the winter season the palace was supposed to be a temporary structure but after mock ups were designed it was decided to make it into a permanent addition to the resort. The inside of the palace is strangely designed to be reminiscent of a Lapland style winter village with the café supposed to be laid out like the village center as well as an arcade designed to look like an ice cave including dry ice to cover up the fact the floor is the same as the café.

Tucker exhaled slightly. Regina was playing diplomat with the other two boys, and to Tucker, this was either the eye of the storm or the hurricane leaving. The shotgun boy's agreement was almost music to his ears.

But there was still the other boy, the one with the bat. Tucker glanced at him, hoping to deter him from a fight. If he calmed down, then all of them could walk away from this alive. He hoped that bat boy realized that, and he'd surrender and they could depart.

But there was a good chance that he wouldn't. If that happened, then someone would definitely die here. If he lunged and swung at either of them, either one of them would be knocked out or he'd get stabbed. He didn't know what the shotgun boy'd do then, but he'd probably start shooting. Then nobody was out of the crossfire.

Regardless, Tucker still held the knife up defensively, keeping an eye on the bat boy in case he tried anything.

He would've said something, but it probably wasn't a good time. Regina seemed to be doing a good job of speaking for the both of them anyhow.

Erik took deep breaths, waiting for something to happen. He didn't really know what to expect, but hopefully, things would go his way with regards to being shot. He would rather not be shot, though that was pretty obvious to everyone in the room.

He was still wary of Regina, especially of the fact that she was a good talker. That fact caused him to feel even more uncomfortable with the entire situation unfolding before them. Her power with words could be dangerous in the long run.

When James had left, Erik realized that he was still jamming the door open. It seemed like they wanted to leave in peace. He looked from Regina and her stick thing to the other boy and his knife. Two versus one was not too appealing an idea, even if he had a nice weapon to use on them. At least in a straight-up fight.

"I guess." Was his only reply as he moved the bat away from the door, still maintaining eye contact with the two of them and stepping away from the door. He didn't step too far though, making sure he was close enough to reach the entrance of the door. He still didn't trust them and would rather not have to deal with Regina later on in the game.

His time would come soon, all he had to do was wait.

The casual watcher hoping for violence, Regina thought, would be disappointed at this point – a seemingly hostile situation diffused by a few well-placed words. Once she would have watched intrigued, making notes on a pad to discuss with her father and grandfather that evening; to assess the odds of each participant to make it out of the situation unscathed. James with the shotgun had backed down as she had anticipated; anyone who raised a shotgun so easily in response to a scene like this was either going to shoot first and ask questions later, or do exactly what he had done.

The still unnamed aggressor was the one she was really concerned about, especially after the way he had jammed his baseball bat into the doorway to stop her. He was the problem, and what bothered Regina most was that he probably still was. He had not moved too far from the doorway, even as she pulled it wide open for their exit, and so her grip on the Nulla Nulla did not lessen, skin white.

“Be safe James,” she called out tightly, half-meaning the sentiment. He had proved himself cautious and willing to listen to reason, but it was inevitable that he would learn very quickly that situations rarely went quite so smoothly when you pointed a gun at others in Survival of the Fittest. Maybe he was not familiar with the show, and that caused his ignorance. Maybe he was just scared. “And try and stay smart.”

If she could stay on speaking, if not friendly terms, with most she met, that meant she was likely to be able to use that trust later – if he lasted long enough for them to meet again. “Tucker, can you get the bag? ” Regina turned to him as she spoke, half-smiling and reluctantly letting just a little relief slip into her expression. That was not a concession she was happy making, but she needed that trust between them to hold, just in case her judgement was right. Now was not the time to be doubting an alliance she had made – that had sustained until this moment. Thus her gaze fell upon Erik, and did not leave him until the absolute last moment – when she had no other choice but to trust that Tucker had her back until their deal was fulfilled.

Regina stepped out into the corridor, hands tight on the grip on the Nulla Nulla as she waited in those brief moments for Tucker so they could make their exit from the Ice Palace a little better off in terms of supplies. Next stop – the Sunshine Tower for a spare bag.

A voice echoes loudly from Erik's collar.

"You really gonna give up that easy? Trust your instincts, boy, and be a man about this. You know they ain't up to any good."

((Sorry for the hold-up, and another sorry that the plan didn’t happen. Finals are coming shortly  and I promise a faster posting speed should we roleplay again, though this doesn’t excuse my lethargy.))

James took a few steps backward. And then a few more. “Be safe James,” the girl said to him, “and try and stay smart.”. After giving a brief survey of the Ice Palace, he found a suitable exit - through the same entrance he’d entered yesterday. “Thanks,” he said as if they were still in an academic setting, “ And please don’t do anything when I go, Erik.”

It really did suck that he couldn’t make allies with any of the three people, temporary as it may have been. He’d just have to go somewhere else because it was pretty readily apparent that he wasn’t welcome here. James wanted to tell himself that the three weren’t going to fight or even kill each other the moment his eyes turned. He supposed he would find out tomorrow.

So James turned around and left the same way he came; looking for an ally.

((Skipping due to risk of inactivity))

Erik stood there silently, his eyes trained on both of the kids as they were leaving the area. He couldn't let it end like this, not when they don't understand the severity of their actions. He found his heart beating ever quicker, time feeling like it was going on for an eternity as he waited for his chance to strike.

Unfortunately, that chance was going to come sooner than he anticipated. Once again, his mentor decided to pipe in at the most inopportune moment to egg him on. Erik cursed silently to himself. So much for trying to wait.

Letting out a guttural roar, Erik bolted towards the two kids, focusing on the boy. He had the more immediately dangerous weapon, so if he could disorientate him, that would give him the advantage against the girl. Dragging the bat behind him, he reached to about the bat's difference in length between each other as he put all of his power into a swing that went from the bottom right aiming for the guy's chest.

They were going to pay. He had no other choice in the matter.

The shotgun boy left, which seemed like a sign of peace if anything. Without a gun in the equation, the list of possible ways of dying in this situation was narrowed down extremely, and if bat boy backed down, then that list could be safely crumpled up and thrown out.

Tucker obeyed Regina happily. Hopefully bat boy would back down, and they could all leave here unharmed. Rather anticlimactic for the viewers back ho-

A loud voice emanated from bat boy's collar, presumably the boy's mentor. His mentor was egging him on, telling him to 'be a man' or whatever.

Worse, bat boy actually listened.

And lunged at him.

Tucker yelped and dropped the bag, backing away and thrusting out the knife. Regina wasn't in the immediate vicinity, and 'bludgeoned with a bat' was still very much on the list of possible ways to die here.

The silence, previously only broken by footsteps, was shattered by a quiet voice emitting from Erik’s collar from behind. She had not quite caught the words themselves, focused on going forward – on getting out before-

You should have known better.

The next thing that registered was horrified realisation. Anger given voice, and then a thud, surprise, and clanging of tins in the heavy bag that Tucker had – understandably – dropped everything that they had to their name, immediately defending himself against further assault. Regina still had the Nulla Nulla in hand as she turned, out of range of Erik but more than able to see his rage focused completely on Tucker.

In that moment, without hesitation, Regina made a choice, shoving her weapon under the elastic of her waist cincher. He’ll be okay, she told herself firmly as the brief run took her back behind Tucker, protected from any attempt Erik might make to harm her if he did notice her, He’s got a knife against a baseball bat.

Run!” Regina demanded of Tucker, arms full with the backpack that she had chosen instead of coming to her ally’s aid. Guilt rose, and she smothered it with a growl of frustration. If he survived, she would explain. If he did not, it made sense to make sure that she was not completely without resources. Regina told herself that over and over as she followed her own advice, searching for an exit and trying to pretend that it was just the strength of a team that made her give a shit whether he lived or died.

Luckily, the boy's bat hadn't hit Tucker in the chest. Instead, it hit Tucker's arm, knocking the knife out of his hand and sending it skittering a few feet away from him.

He panicked. Was this how he was going to die? Bludgeoned to death by some maniac kid who couldn't keep to himself? Without a weapon, without a friend? Where was Regina anyway?

He looked around/ Regina had grabbed the bag, and was currently yelling at him to run. The command somehow managed to kick him into action, prompting him to dive under bat boy's arm and towards the knife. Tucker felt a little safer with the blade in his grip.

Scrambling to his feet, he looked around for the exit. Once he had located it, he simply nodded to Regina before bolting.

He only hoped that she'd follow.

Both of them were gone now. Erik had managed to drive them away, for now.

Would they come back for him when they were a bigger threat? Certainly even more people would come to an area like this, possibly just as dangerous too...

He didn't care for either of those scenarios.

Erik gathered his belongings and left.
