Monkey on My Back

Eating My Fucking Bananas [OPEN]

A sturdy structure consisting of two huge steel doors, the gate to the compound isn't about to be opened any time soon. Bordering the gate on either side are two small gatehouses, although the controls for operating the entrance itself have been rendered in operable.

Alex Thornton was feeling especially unimpressed by his situation.

Why was he here again? To kill a bunch of kids? Sounded like a day in the park to Alex. Then again, while the other kids were probably running around like headless chickens Alex was getting high. So maybe that was why he felt so underwhelmed. Alex was actually surprised he managed to keep the reefer hidden. Sure, he had the shit placed in the soles of his shoes but the military could have easily have found it if they were thorough. Hey! The popo was getting lazy! No reason for Alex to complain though. Least he got to keep his shit. Cost him a good penny to get.

So, yeah. Kids were dying. Most likely Alex was going to die too. What the fuck ever. Way to ruin his good mood.

Alex had spent the past hour swinging that fucking chain they gave him around. It looked totally badass. It passed the time. What the hell else was he supposed to do with it? Hang himself? Alex was not going to kill himself. If he was going to die, they had to come to him first. Yeah. Best fucking run bitches.

Strangely, Alex felt more eager about fighting someone than actually killing. Surviving? Meh. Beating the shit out of someone with a chain? Oh fuck yes. Try and kill him now! Sir Alex MotherFucker will chain fuck you so hard you'll be bleeding iron! Alex was not a passionate person, but the thought of fending off some lunatic was a thrill that he liked the sound of. The word "kill" never applied. It was all bruises and broken bones to him. To say that dying was absent from his mind would be wrong, but the definition of "dying" was one that Alex had no interest in looking up.

Alex hit the big ass door. He winced.

"H-Holy shit."

He stumbled back. He giggled. Holy shit was he still fucking high? It had been hours since he took his first hit. Alex, dude, stop laughing, you look like a girl.

Alex stared at the door. He wished he could go through that thing. What was past there? Escape? A lifetime supply of Twinkies? He hoped it was the latter. He was fucking starving. He laughed at the absurd though, holding his head in his palm. He looked... well, he looked like he was high. That was the only way to describe it. Completely out of his mind.

((Luke Mendoza Continued From: Actions Speak Louder Than Words.))

Running somewhere, but he didn't know where, exactly. Luke did eventually reach a dead end. It was the gate. That much was clear. The entrance and exit of this whole place staring back at him. He was a little ways back, as this wasn't his destination, or the ideal place to stay after all, but he did feel a bit tired in the legs, so he needed a no longer than 5 minute rest. But... what the? He smelled a familiar smell. It smelled like... Like Weed?

Off in the sort-of, distance, was the source of the smokey weed smell. It was a boy, he was standing much closer to the gate then Luke was. He couldn't quite see him, as all he could see was the back of his head, rather than his face. What the heck? The boy was laughing to himself blankly staring up at the gate. It was a weird sort of laugh like: "Huh-huh-huh-huh..." Yeah, that guy was Flipping High, Luke could tell.

Then the boy started twirling a chain, still laughing at himself, as he spun around. Then he saw the face. He knew this boy too. Again, with his luck! It was Alex Thornton. The guy was pretty cool, although a complete dumb ass sometimes, due to self-killing of his brain cells from all that weed or something. Other than that; hilarious and cool guy. He'd sometimes even skip class to join some of the gambling or card playing sessions Luke would set up at school. He was a frequent participant. But this was really dumb. Alex was here in clear site, for who knows how long... in the open; laughing, staring at the gate and spinning a chain around. Luke was surprised Alex managed to live this long, unharmed. That guy was really lucky. It was survival of the fittest here, and this... this was not it. This was stupid.

Alex was a decent guy though, and the least he could do was warn the dude.

"Alex! ALEX! Hey Dumb Ass! (and so on...)" Luke tried his best to get the stoned out his mind Alex, to pay attention, but the guy wasn't budging at all. Lost in his drug induced stupor, it seemed.

This was difficult, but Alex needed to realize his situation and get the hell out of clear visibility. Luke looked down at the gun in his hand - and suddenly the craziest idea popped into his mind. It might have been the alcohol from the hard liquor he drank earlier together with a dying Sor, (heck he still had an extra bottle borrowed and stuffed into his duffel bag) thinking for him that moment, but it seemed a good idea at the time. Hopefully a warning shot could do the trick? Luke shook his head, raised his gun and fired a shot in the direction of Alex Thornton.

BANG!

- BANG! - BANG! ??????

HOLY SHIT! The ringing in his ears were deafening! What the? He used this gun before in the Officer's Quarters, and it didn't hurt his ears that much back then. But then again, back then was a life or death situation. He was extremely angry and the adrenaline pumping through his veins at that time, was probably enough to ignore the Bang, from the gun. But that wasn't all. Luke only meant for one shot to fire, but the surprise shock in his ears caused him to accidentally, and wildly pull the trigger twice more.

Crap.

Okay, that was too much noise. He might have alerted more than just Alex now. He hoped Alex got the picture, that it was dangerous out here, and people might go shooting at him. Thanks to that noise, he had to get a move on now, and soon, before more psychos like Sophie Mason and her shotgun brandishing sister, Stephanie, came by to investigate. Without checking to see if Alex had noticed the gun shots, (which surly he would right!?) Luke Mendoza ran away once more, to any building he could find.

Alex had no idea how long he'd been there. Quite some time, for sure. Maybe it was still the pot. This was... this was really not an optimal time to be high. This was life and death. This was serious business.

For some reason, this was really funny all of a sudden. He started cracking up. This was bad. This was not the time to be laughing. Especially because someone was shouting at him. He just couldn't get his attention focused. The guy wasn't shooting him, though, so it should be alright. He was just screwing around. It'd all be fine.

Then all of a sudden the guy was shooting him.

The guy was shooting him and hitting him.

Only one of the bullets hit Alex. It was enough, though. It passed through his chest from the side, punching through his ribs and his lungs. He collapsed to the ground with a gurgle, and tried desperately to claw his way to safety. By now, though, it was far too late. His lungs were filling with blood. He couldn't breath. He was choking on his own blood right in front of this door. And he still couldn't get through the damn thing.

This all felt like some huge mistake.

As the oxygen stopped flowing to his brain, though, everything went hazy, and Alex could almost pretend he was just high again. Could almost pretend he wasn't dying in the dirt.
