Another bolt of pain awakened Cory. From the level of light in the area, he estimated that it was morning. The blood of the wound had dried somewhat. The metallic smell resulted in a feeling of sickness. Once more, the announcements played. He pulled the notebook and pen from his pocket and began to annotate what was said.

Danger Zone / Unknown Individual - Mateo Ormeño - Unknown.

Danger Zone - Hailey Thompson.

Danger Zone - Nate Suchinda.

He paused momentarily, taking a moment to reflect on the announcement. Nate had been one of his earliest allies, but Cory left him with Gregory following the fight. He wondered what had become of the alliance between the other two - he decided that it had likely collapsed.

Nadine Flores - Marion Rosales - Accidental.

He paused again. An attempt to remove someone's collar, albeit unsuccessful. It gave him some small amount of hope to cling to - he was not the only reasonable person in the arena. He silently wished this person luck - maybe they would be able to escape in his place.

Anthony Golden - Beau Lively - Assisted Suicide.

Seo-yun Lee - Lark Wilson - Purposeful.

This individual, Seo-yun, had killed five separate people - the most of anyone in the arena. He wondered how a person could do something like that and still sleep at night. Maybe she hadn't been able to.

Mariko Whitney - Laurence Clifford - Purposeful.

Then, the announcement went silent aside from the bursts of static noise. It seemed that they were having technical difficulties. Cory hoped that this would be an opportunity for those attempting to escape. He stared forward and waited for the time to pass.
