Bruised
(Rebecca Clark continued from Into The Earth)
Rebecca had been thinking since she left the mines. Heck, she had been walking for a couple more hours, it took her a bit to find her way out of the mines, and then she had found herself at the entrance she had gone in at. A waste of time, well besides eliminating two more people that needed to be gone.
Yeah but it turned out that they told everyone who had killed. She was one of the biggest bitches on the block, if not the biggest. And she hadn't gotten anywhere besides getting rid of competitors. She was losing more and more arrows and had nothing to replace them. Her leg still hurt where Tito had hit her, and her ear still stung from getting torn. Actually, a good part of her body felt achy after Clair, not to mention her eye was swollen now. She also had the amazing luck to have torn a scrape on her left elbow when Clair had taken her down.
And now she was sitting next to railroad tracks on some bridge above the river. Thinking time. Obviously what she was doing wasn't working. But I still have to win... Maybe now she would only attack if she could get supplies or weapons. Yeah...maybe. Don't attack anyone with backup...
Okay. Maybe she needed a more substantial plan.

[[Alex Henry Continued From: Open Grave.]]
To Alex's disappointment, the two girls from the chapel opted not to follow him after all. He kind of assumed they would, due to safety in numbers and all that, especially when out in the wilderness like this. Now he found himself wandering the desert by himself.
He had followed the river for who knows how long, keeping a look out for any signs of life, or maybe even death considering the circumstances, but he hoped it wouldn't have to come to that. Alex figured his plan was a logical one; that people would flock to one of the only sources of fresh water on the map. It turned out he was wrong. The sky had grown dark and he still hadn't found anyone from his school, or anyone, period.
Maybe he should have stayed with the group over at the chapel, afterall. At least then he wouldn't be all alone in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but an inner tube to keep him company. Yeah, it was probably a good idea to turn around and head back.
Alex made it half way back down alongside the river from where he came from, but stopped when he realized just how exhausted his whole body was. There was no way he was going to make it back there again, not in the dark, no, he would just get himself lost. Instead he decided to find somewhere to rest along the riverside, preferably at the only landmark area he had seen when traveling past it earlier in the day.
The same voice Alex remembered belonging to the man on the train seemed to blare out of nowhere at one point, announcing deaths of his classmates.
It was incredibly surreal hearing that people you once knew were gone and responsible for that were other people you knew. Alex was stunned. He just kept on walking until he saw the bridges.
What surprised Alex was the presence of someone else already there. He couldn't make out who it was in the darkness, but he could tell it was a girl.
He approached her, keeping a small distance between them both and called out to her.
"Hey there! This is Alex Henry. I'm looking for people. Are you a student from Alderbrook High too?"

Plan, what kind of plan could she have? She didn't know, there wasn't really much she could do. People wouldn't trust her anymore, would they? Not after what she had done. But could she go all the way and kill even more kids? She didn't know.
Her thoughts were soon interrupted by a voice in the darkness. Alex Henry? She knew him, sort of. Didn't he usually come support the theater performances? She thought so.
"Yeah, Rebecca Clark."
Right, she'd say who she was, then he'd probably get the message and leave. She didn't want to kill him, but she needed to survive. Sabotaging your own attempt at survival?
Maybe so.

Rebecca Clark. One person he hoped not to meet so soon. She was on the announcement. She killed people...
...But the fact she answered him instead of keeping quiet and trying to kill him was a good sign.
Alex stood ground, his heartbeat sped up, but he took a minute to steady his breathing as well. He spoke, but his words were noticeably shaky.
"Okay, Rebecca... I-I-um-I'm not sure if what I heard was true and if it is I'm sure you have a reasonable explanation. Look, I can help you.. we can help each other. I know I'm not playing this and neither does anyone else. If we can get everyone from our school together. We can stop it."
He took four step closer.
"Just. No. More. Killing."

Shit. He didn't get it did he? The whole happy "let's get together and everything will be okay" thing wouldn't work. She wasn't the only killer, and if she went with what he wanted she'd probably just get killed by someone like her later.
She wasn't stupid.
And he had gotten closer. She knew killing him now would be smarter, but she wasn't willing to do it yet, no she'd killed at least three people, four if Clair had died. There wasn't going back now, didn't he get that? People would kill her now even if they weren't like her.
"Right, like one of their friends won't kill be right away. Or their parents if we somehow, someway in Hell managed to fucking get out of here. There's only one fucking way!"

She didn't outright say it, but Rebecca was admitting to what she did.
"Rebecca, this whole situation is fucked up. Everyone is panicking and doing shit they don't want or even need to do. People will understand that. It isn't your fault. It's that damned Sheriff's fault. Him and whoever he's working with. You gotta have faith that everyone isn't just going to start killing, just because you did. We're still just a bunch of kids from Alderbrook, not fucking psychopaths!"
Alex was shocked at himself for going off like that, especially to a girl who he knew had killed.
He just couldn't and wouldn't believe that people he knew from school; his own classmates would ALL start killing each other, just like that. The ones who did, like Rebecca, had to know that. There were only three of them who killed: Rebecca, Delilah and Simon. They had to learn that this wasn't the only way.
"I won't kill you or anybody else. That much I know and I won't back away. It's not the only option. We don't need to kill, just because some Southern, Yankee hick, tells us to. Fuck him. If you think there is only one way, then there's no reason for you to stop. You'll have to kill me too."
One step. Another. He kept walking toward her, heart beating quickly, surprised at his own courage.
"If you can stop now, anyone can and I believe you can. "

Alex was wrong, so wrong. There were only a few of them killing, but people didn't like it when their friends were dying off, that was just human nature. He just didn't get it, she had to do this, and just because she had been trying to avoid killing someone this time didn't mean she could do it now.
Her bruises told her as much, her face, her body, her now partially detached ear. People would hurt her now. Regardless of what she did someone would be willing to use her as a punching bag. Shoot her if they had guns. Whatever they felt like would protect them.
She straightened the bow and launched the arrow.

She straightened the bow and launched the arrow.
The arrow flew, too dark and too fast for Alex to see and attempt to avoid.
He felt the piercing of the arrow's tip enter the flesh right above his left knee.
Alex screamed and retreated. He couldn't think of anything other than the pain he felt from the arrow lodged in his knee. He wanted to pull it out. He tried, but it burned with an even more passionate sting.
"OH GOD-OH PLEASE DON'T KILL ME!"
Alex turned to retreat, without looking back, the pain in his knee throbbing even more as he attempted to walk away from the cold blooded girl in back of him. He couldn't keep it up. He dropped his bag and innertube. With every step he hobbled crookedly until finally it gave in. The most unfathomable pain, like no other he felt before causing him to stumble and lose balance...
Right over the side of the bridge.
The water was freezing cold, the current strong where the bridge was built. Alex yelled in terror, screamed in pain, and flailed wildly in the torrents. His panic and the extra weight of arrow in his now immobile leg caused him to eventually sink and drown in the river.
With his inner-tube, he could have lived - but then he took an arrow to the knee.
M07: Alex Henry - GAME OVER.

Screaming. Terror. Why? Why couldn't she aim worth a shit? Keep leaving people to die horribly and painfully. She couldn't seem to end it. Tito had gone out like that, and now Alex was screaming.
And then there was silence and a splash. A splash? She looked over the side of the bridge, she couldn't see anything, didn't really want to see anything. What if his body was floating in the water? Or if there were rocks and...Don't think about it bitch.
Right. Time to go. Go, get away from this, well before you kill yet another person. Bitch. Not what she meant. She already had her bag on, along with the quiver. She had the bow in her hands, it had never left.
She walked down the bridge back to solid ground.
She forgot to grab Henry's bag.
