Winding back and forth along the western side of the valley, the track has fallen into crumbling disrepair, resulting in sections of it having dissolved into little more than treacherous scree. It's quite the hike, but probably the easiest way of making it up out of the central valley, since once upon a time, it was an actual path.

Robin had replied that she was fine, and continued to move forward. It was painful to keep this going, partly because of how long he'd been up here (answer: too long for him), but mostly because Robin looking at him frequently, like he was going to do something to her. Honestly, he didn't trust her either, but he wasn't going to rescind his promise, and especially not in some violent way. He felt like she was blaming him for something, but he couldn't possibly be sure.

Eventually, and after too long a time period for Shawn, they had made it off the path.

Bailey slowed down as she waited for the others to catch up, her feet starting to ache from all the running she had done bare-footed. She could put on her heels, but the fact that they were on a mountain made her hesitant to do so. After all, all it would take was for her to slip on them and she would plummet to her death. While Bailey normally was one who was all for taking risks, she didn't want to die from slipping on heels. That would be humiliating.

Once she let the others catch up to her, she picked up the pace a little, turning her head so that she could listen to Gerald. According to him, there was a town nearby where they probably should check out. The prospect of going to a town with an actual shelter over their heads like they had with the cabin sounded like a very nice prospect to her.

"I agree with Gerald. It would be much nicer to have an actual roof over our heads. We might be able to meet others there as well. Hopefully someone who isn't crazy." Bailey contributed as she turned her head back forwards and continued to walk. Another advantage of finding shelter was that it could help protect her from the cold.

After walking for a while, Bailey heard Felicia call out her name.

"Yes?" Bailey inquired, turning around to face her and taking a step backwards when she noticed what Felicia was doing. Her right hand went instantly over her mouth in surprise. She certainly wasn't expecting Felicia to lend her her scarf. After all, she was probably cold as well. She chewed her lip and took on a look of concern.

"Are you sure about this Felicia? I thought you were cold..." Bailey muttered to her as she moved her hand unsteadily over to where Felicia held out the scarf. Bailey looked hesitant to take it and her hand floated above the scarf for a moment, as if she was considering whether she should take it or not. Eventually, Bailey picked up the scarf and wrapped it around her. The warmth from having one was something she really appreciated and for a moment, she didn't know what to say and just gave Felicia a really grateful smile.

"Thanks Felicia... I don't really know what to say..." Bailey admitted, standing awkwardly as she temporarily forgot about the environment they were in. After a while, she eventually shook her head.

"We should probably head towards the town. Mind leading the way Gerald? Could we also slow down a little as well, I don't think I'll be able to keep up with you guys wearing this dress?" Bailey asked the two of them, turning her head towards Gerald and looking guilty. She didn't like having to ask to slow down. It made her feel like a liability. She wanted to be strong. She had to keep her composure. She wasn't going to let the game get to her.

Bailey seemed hesitant.

It was as if she wanted it, but didn't want to take it from her. What she said confirmed this. Her hand reached out, uncertain.

Felicia just held it out, waiting for her to take it. It was alright if she didn't. But at least she did something to help, right?

Eventually, Bailey grabbed it, wrapping it around her. The smile and the thanks made Felicia smile back.

"No problem."

It was nice to do something for someone.

The town still sounded good. After all, nice and warm, cozy, probably has some supplies in them... couldn't hurt, right? Right.

Felicia nodded at the suggestion that they slow down for her. It must have been hard without good shoes.

((Skipping to avoid being inactive killed))

"Well, what are we just doing standing around? We've got to move!" Bailey exclaimed as she glanced over Gerald's shoulder to view the map and then made her way in the direction which she thought would lead them to the town which they really needed to get to right now. She saw no reason to wait. After all, who knows what could happen in this game.

"You guys better come or else fate will catch up to us. It's time we went on an adventure." Bailey continued to say as she moved further away from their current location. She appreciated the scarf and stroked it a little as she moved onwards. She needed to be strong for this. After all, this was the Program.

Anything could happen.

((Sorry for the delay folks. Things got out of hand for a minute there))

"We should probably head towards the town. Mind leading the way Gerald? Could we also slow down a little as well, I don't think I'll be able to keep up with you guys wearing this dress?"

If Gerald heard what was said he didn’t seem to acknowledge it with more than a cursory nod. To be honest he was currently elsewhere mentally, having drifted off to the side to look out over the valley while Felicia gave Bailey her scarf and turned his attention to thinking through their situation with a bit more consideration. What had triggered this rare moment of introspection was something that had passed through his mind briefly when he had suggested they head for the town as their next port of call. Mentally he had listed all the things they would need and hopefully find when they got there; clothing, food, water, useful weapons.

It was that last one that got him. Weapons. It was something of a given that if you were in The Program you would need a weapon. If you’re going to go wandering you better be packing something, there be psychos in them woods. It was automatic to list it among the thing they would need since none of them got anything more deadly than a Furby – what did Bailey get again? – but the implications of needing a weapon were something that he didn’t think about until just now.

It was all well and good to just say, ‘we need weapons’, but what then? It wasn’t enough just to have them, to wave them around, they needed to be willing to use them if the situation arose. And Gerald couldn’t help but ask himself, was he? Could he use a weapon if he needed to?
Despite all the stereotypes about minorities and him in particular, he was not a violent person. He had been attacked and chased and the scar on his shoulder had drawn a few wary looks but, truth be told, Gerald had never been in a fight in his life. It had never come up, he had never been caught. There was no running away from this however, not with the collars. Could he fight, could he kill to protect himself now, when he needed to most?

Looking back over at girls, seeing Bailey wrapping the scarf around her neck and Felecia smiling. Could he fight to protect those with him? Or could they protect themselves?

This was all very serious and not at all like Gerald. He shook the thoughts from his head and turned back to his pair of companions to see that Bailey had apparently taken the initiative and took off down the path.

"You guys better come or else fate will catch up to us. It's time we went on an adventure."

With a smirk on his face Gerald hurried to catch up with the bubbly girl, overtaking her and taking his appointed place as the scout and trailblazer for the group. He’d deal with the serious stuff later; he had his goal for now and that was something he could focus on and deal with right now.

The rest could come later.

It was time to go. Felicia knew very well it wasn't a good idea to stand around in the cold, and they needed to move on.

An adventure, though...

That was an odd way to refer to the Program.

Adventure implied fighting dragons, or fighting against evil with the forces of good. Adventure meant, to her, something positive.

Was the Program really an adventure? She blinked. Sure, it was different from everyday life, she supposed. And, well, there was the risk of dying, which could be considered what part of an adventure is to begin with.

An adventure.

The Program. As an adventure.

Felicia dwelled on this for a few beats. It... was an interesting concept. She had to genuinely smile again at that.

Really, she had been fairly pessimistic about the whole thing, the second she knew what it was, and the second she knew her and her classmates had been picked out. But that was a strangely optimistic way of looking at things, really.

Even if they were going to die soon.

Even if at least three of their classmates were dead by this point.

...

Let's go with the whole adventure thing.

She continued to smile and follow her two companions.
