The New Battle Royale AU is set in the Battle Royale universe, and thus the rules regarding Battle Royale's place in continuity do not apply in the traditional way. While it is true that in the BRAU2 there is no novel Battle Royale, other references to the Battle Royale continuity will be unavoidable.
The Hunger Games, however, still does not exist, as the BRAU2 is set in 1997.

Unlike traditional versions, in the BRAU2 handlers will not write profiles. Instead, they will select preexisting characters using a lottery process, as follows:
A list will be created including each character in Battle Royale, including a short (1-3 sentence) summary of the character's canon personality and history. Interested handlers will compile personal rankings of their desired characters in order of most to least wanted. They may also include "Anyone" and may set an exclusion list (characters they do not want to handle under any circumstances). Rankings will be hidden until the time comes for character selection, to avoid any pressure on handlers to change or exclude certain characters. Handlers will also be asked to note whether they would like to handle two characters if the opportunity presents itself, or just one.
After a period of roughly one week for ranking creation, we will roll from the list of participating handlers. Upon being rolled, a handler will receive the highest-ranked character remaining on their personal chart. If this is "Anyone," they will be rolled a random character from those remaining, with any characters on their exclusion list rerolled.
Should we reach the end without all characters being assigned, we will start the process again, rolling from the initial list to assign the remaining characters, with any handlers uninterested in a second character removed from the list. This process will continue until all characters are assigned, or until each handler who so desires has two characters.
Should any characters remain at this time, they will be publicly noted and may be picked up on a first-come-first-served basis by interested handlers, either new to the version or who have fewer than two living characters remaining. No handler may have more than two characters at one time, however.
Weapons will be assigned after characters are assigned, again at random. The list will be based on the canon Battle Royale weapon lists.
Characters may be traded should handlers desire. After characters and weapons are assigned, there will be a period of roughly 48 hours before the game fully launches. Any characters traded or given away in this period will not count as adoptions. Any trades or hand-offs after the game launches will be considered adoptions for all official purposes.

As we are hoping to create something fast, loose, and spontaneous, the BRAU2 is officially banning private threads. This includes "PM for entry" threads and anything else that functionally renders a thread limited in who can participate. Please be aware of this going in. All threads should be open to all comers. Do not make private threads, explicitly or implicitly. Do not ask in chat for people to not join threads. We take this seriously.

Unlike the original BRAU, the BRAU2 will include Hero Cards as well as Swap Cards.

Like Supers, there will be a Memories forum in which handlers may roleplay characters in their normal, pre-abduction lives. Characters may only be in one active thread at a time, though one-shots or solo threads are an exception and are always allowed.
