幽霊屋敷

Haunted House; Open

The water treatment chamber is the largest of the three intensive care rooms. Cold and uninviting, it has a tiled floor and partly tiled walls with a few drains to ensure any spillage can be easily handled. Multiple metal tubs are spread throughout the room, some of them flipped onto their sides or overturned to assist in draining, others left sitting flat. All of them, however, are covered in grime, and a number still have murky water floating in them. In the back of the water treatment room, through some heavy doors, is a shower and changing area for the doctors and nurses tasked with administering the treatment. Despite featuring a couple of wooden benches and hooks to hang clothes on, it is as unwelcoming as the rest of the area.

Nancy staggered backward as Sandy fell, the screwdriver neatly embedded in his eye. She waited. She was expecting him to get back up, to come at her even without an eye, to lunge at her once again. So she waited. Five seconds passed. Then ten. Then a minute. Then two. Then five.

She inhaled deeply, before daring to approach the body. She turned Sandy's head, gripping the screwdriver and pulling it out with a sickening noise. The screwdriver was covered in... unpleasantness. She knelt down, wiping the screwdriver on Sandy's coat, before slipping it back in her skirt. She eyed Sandy's bag, pilfering it before moving over to where her axe had been flung. She searched in the corner for a few seconds before spotting it. She picked it up and turned to the door to the back room.

Nancy's face turned to one of fear as she heard the other door, the entry door, open.

(Jerry and Michael entered the haunted asylum.)

Jerry and Michael didn't fuck around to find Nancy. They had no clue where she was, no clue what she was doing, they only knew she had something like a hatchet or an axe and maybe Scarlett's weapon. Other than that, they knew nothing else about her. But Jerry thought about her. He thought about her crime, her kill, her murder. Who would do something like that?

Someone that's crazy and where did the crazies go? That's why they went to the asylum, that's why they made their way there, that's why they hunted her down. It was fluke, really. Jerry just thought about the first thing he could, the monument shaping the island itself, the asylum that possessed the land around it. The aura of the building was aching, like a medium after a séance where she was controlled by a spirit or a demon. Nancy was the creature to exorcise, to remove from the world, to bring peace on the victim of the possession.

She had to pay, that was the only thing that mattered, Jerry didn't even care whether or not he'd die, he just wanted to make Nancy suffer. To see her beg for her life, or something like that. He didn't think about that last part very well, he just knew he wanted to see Nancy hurt then Nancy die. Everything in between that didn't matter one bit to Jerry, but seeing Nancy suffering in his head made him feel good. It made him feel very good to think that Scarlett would be avenged, she was struck by an axe and he hoped he could do the same to Nancy.

Jerry swung the door open, it was the first time in his life that he enjoyed the noise it made. Something was calming about the sound of metal being slammed against a wall, about the echo it made, about the presence it showed. He felt so alive, he felt almost happy despite the situation. He squeezed his teeth together, clenching them at the thought of the blue-haired freak.

''You know, I think don't think sh-,'' he was about to say how they should both leave, how scary the place was and how nobody could be there, yet something proved him wrong.

There was a corpse, the one of a boy now. Then, he saw a bath that was put upside now and he could see blood leaking from it. The pool it made was unreal, the thing inside was clearly dead, and he assumed there was another corpse in the room. He realized it was the first time he saw one of those things. He saw corpses on TV, sure. But most of them were fake, most of them were not really bloody, most of them were actors or mannequins. Right now, it was someone that was alive, maybe they were still alive when they shoved under there. Maybe they were even conscious while they bled out. The boy's face was oozing, something went through his face and killed him. The longer he looked at him, the longer he was feeling his breakfast climbing its way up his throat.

Then he saw her.

''Speaking of the devil.''

Michael followed behind Jerry with his meticulously rehearsed swagger. With his head tilted high, sunglasses reflecting the light from the windows, strutting like the white jacketed gang leader in the King of Pop's Beat It video, you wouldn't think he'd be scared. You'd be right, he's not scared, he's terrified.

There was this fear that had hit his hindsight. What if Nancy was innocent? Now, he knew there was no way in hell she could have committed 'self-defense' against someone like Scarlett, you'd have to be bum-fuck stupid to think that, but what if the two of them were grouped together. What if, like he and Jerry, they woke up and made a group, and what if, someone big and nasty took them for an easy target. Michael knew Nancy had a weapon from the announcements. Maybe she fought back, and their would be killer used Scarlett as a shield, then pussed off like the coward they were. Maybe it was a little bitch like Alvaro.

Jerry was rather determined to find her, to put an end to her. Michael didn't blame him, hell he was helping him find her, but he'd like to question her first, just to be sure. He'd know if she was lying, you can't bullshit a master bullshitter. If she wasn't, she'd be free to go, and they'd look for the theoretical 'real' killer. However, if she were the killer, they'd follow the original plans, kill her, then hang her corpse from the asylum roof. Enough bed sheets to make a noose right? Plus she didn't have to be alive by the time they dropped her, just the thought of a killer's body hanging should be enough to deter other would-be murderers. Then, they'd target the other psychos, Alex, Isabel, Alvaro... Hang em' all from the roof, let them know that Mike and Jerry were the Judges, Juries, and Executioners around here.

Still, Michael was nervous. He didn't want to be making a mistake here. Neither him, nor Jerry. If they lynched the wrong one, well... They wouldn't be no better than the other killers would they?

Jerry was knocking door open after door open, no sign of the bitch. Michael leaned against a wall, zipping his jacket up for extra protection. He slid his axe underneath his arm as he began to roll the sleeves up, folding the cuffs backwards so they didn't slide back down his arms. It was kind of an oxymoron to be honest, protect your torso, leave your forearms exposed... But he needed the extra mobility on swinging his axe, and his vital organs were in his chest right? He didn't have hearts in his wrists after all...Not like arteries or veins were a thing, neither.

Michael swallowed the lump in his throat as Jerry kicked open the door. He heard Jerry speak, before he got cut off. That was when the smell hit him. Michael had crept up behind Jerry, looking into the doorway. There was a body, fresh, fresh as in blood was still pooling from under it. Michael lowered his shades in disbelief. This was the first real corpse he'd ever seen. He's been to haunted houses, he's seen slasher films, and many were more bloody than what he witnessed. This? This was different, flesh and blood, real, but it was stiff, like a mannequin, it was either real, and moved a little bit, or it was stiff, and obviously plastic. This was both stiff and real, not only that, there was the air, the smell. This wasn't just the scent of blood, it was something else, not something like bodily fluids, but something completely alien to him. The room was cold, windy almost, as if the victim's ghost just phased right through him on the way to hell...

"You gotta be fuckin' kidding..."

He turned his head to the other side of the room, the area Jerry was staring at. 'Speak of the devil' alright... All that shit he was thinking, it was all wishful. He'd have liked to think maybe he could be wrong. Nope, he was right the first time, Jerry was right the first time...

Nancy wasn't innocent, and that meant only one thing.

That bitch was gonna hang tonight...

Nancy's face hurt, her heart was pounding in her chest, and she was breathing heavily. This wasn't the best condition to stare someone down in, let alone two.

They had been looking for her. That much had been obvious from their words, their actions, their expressions. And they definitely weren't looking for her to have a lovely spot of tea.

"Look at that, I'm already famous," Nancy said humorlessly.

She tapped a finger against the handle of the hatchet as she stared them down. There was going to be another fight, she could feel it. They were standing in front of the door. They weren't going to let her go.

Then she'd have to fight.

"Two on one ain't fair..." she said.

Her heart felt like it was going to leap out of her throat. She looked between the two, deciding who she should go for. It was a tough decision, considering that even in the best of circumstances, neither of them were great targets.

Playing it by ear was a pretty stupid idea, but then again, hadn't this entire thing been stupid?

She lunged forward.

He didn't think Nancy would have started the assault so early. Jerry thought she might run away, or beg, or prayed, or insulted them, but instead she decided to be the first to hit. While Jerry hadn't expected that, he wasn't surprised. His grip on the spear tighten as he saw the light being reflected off blade of the hatchet.

It was coming toward him.

Maybe she was the one hunting them, maybe it was a trap, maybe she knew what she was doing, maybe she set up a trap and they were right where she wanted them to be. Maybe she was right, playing the game and all of that. Maybe that way, she might go home, see her family and live or something like that.

As the hatchet came closer and closer to Jerry, he almost accepted his fate. He wondered how death was like, how it felt and shit. Like did it hurt or were you able to haunt people? If so, Jerry was eager to haunt Nancy's ass and make her life a living hell, at least what was left of it after Michael whack her a couple of time on the head.

He accepted his demise.

Except he didn't and slammed his foot right into Nancy's chest. To be fair, he was going for the axe, to disarm her and all. Instead, he sightly miscalculated and stomped the air out of Nancy. It was a happy mistake, after all. She fell backward and Jerry pointed her with his empty hand and beamed.

"Not today, bitch. And especially not to you."

Michael felt many things, listening to Nancy speak. The expression on her face, the deadpan way she spoke. She treated it like game, no, that wasn't the right way to put it. She simply didn't care. Yet the words coming out of her mouth... She was doing it for attention! Ironically, the idea of hanging someone from the asylum to show how 'badass' they were didn't cross him as one bit hypocritical... It didn't count though. That was for heroism. Totally...

The problem was that she was killing for attention, and not only that, she had no remorse for any of it. The look on her fucking face said it all. To sorta-quote Dr. Loomis, Michael had realized that what was living behind that blue haired weeb's eyes was purely and simply...evil. No remorse, no empathy, no fear...

Wait... No fear.

Nancy got up.

Oh...

Nancy had a hatchet.

Oh shit.

Nancy rushed the two.

Oh shit!

Michael brought his own axe up in front of his face, awaiting to block the strike. The hit never came, she went for Jerry instead.

Oh Shit!!

But apparently Jerry wasn't having it, he fucking knocked her lights out with a Patrick Swayze kick to the chest!

"OH SHIT!!!"

Michael couldn't resist cheering as Nancy flew back down to the ground again. Not only that, Jerry dropped the bomb on her with the taunt too. Threw in a 'bitch' and everything! Young paddawon, you have been trained well. Michael now knew how it felt when a parent taught their kid how to ride a bike, or in this case, taught their kid how to kick everyone's ass. Fuck he'd be a great parent. He'd have to talk with Jonathan about adopting, they'd raise the next Jean Claude Van Damme!

Michael slid past Jerry as he went into the room, keeping his eyes trailed on Nancy and her little pissbaby axe.

"You want that axe, don't you, Nancy?" Michael smirked as he pointed the sharpened edge of his axe at Nancy. "Go on, go get it... I'll just lop your hand off, Jerry won't mind. Hell, all he wants is the killing blow, whatever happens to ya' before that? 'S all on you."

He had to admit, this felt kind of good, to put a psycho like that in their place. To taunt them. To make them realize that this was the end of the road for them. To show them just how wrong they were, and just how right he was! To prove someone wrong, it was the greatest feeling on earth, even more so by the fact that he was right, whilst still being in the right.

"She's all yours, Jerry..."

He didn't feel one bit of remorse for this; the bitch had it coming.  She made her choices, and she chose poorly. She chose the path that led down to the gallows, the hangmen of motherfuckin' justice were upon her now.

"C'mon, go grab it, I dare you... I double dog dare you, motherfucker!"

His grin just got wider and wider as he continued to taunt her, like a chimpanzee barring it's teeth to let you know that you done fucked up and now it's gonna rip your face off.

"Grab it, you motherfuckin' nobody!"

Nancy really wished, as she flew backward, that these people could fucking not. The axe didn't fly out of Nancy's hands until she landed, and it didn't fly very far. But, it did, and that was a problem.

It was even more of a problem when Michael pointed his own axe at her. Nancy rubbed her chest, letting a few coughs escape her body.

"Yeah..." she said as he taunted her. 'Yeah', but nothing more than 'yeah'.

He wasn't going to kill her. He was going to let the other guy, Jerry, do it. But then, he was going to stop her from retaliating. What a tricky situation.

Nancy's heart raced in fear, and she desperately tried to think of some avenue of escape.

Maybe... maybe she'd just have to be fast. Faster than Michael could react. Grab the axe, leap forward, and get out. But Nancy's fingers feebly opened and closed, and she remained unmoving from her position on the floor.

Jerry stared Nancy down, his empty eyes met hers. She knew she was going to die, and Jerry wasn't going to make it painless. It's not like he'll enjoy it but she had coming. She deserved it, she merited the pain. She had to know how it felt, how it felt to die and to suffer. She obviously didn't.

Did Jerry feel bad for her? Just a tiny bit, a little part of him felt pity for her. She ended up like this not by choice, but she still decided to kill. If it was all an accident, Jerry would have still been angry but he wouldn't have these thoughts of murder.

That was lie, he'd still have been angry, but he wouldn't act upon them. He wouldn't arched his back, wrapping his hands around the spear, ready to lower it unto Nancy and killing her, once and for all. He wouldn't think about stealing her weapon and keeping it for himself, or dumping her body somewhere he couldn't see that obnoxious blue hair.

He'd maybe even hope for the best kill award, proving what he has done so that everyone take it as a warning to fuck around. To show that if they try to touch him or his friends, they were going to die.

Yet, despite all of these things going through his mind, he didn't move one bit. This time however, it wasn't by choice. He didn't want to stay like that, standing like a pillar and staring at Nancy. It was then the pain started to register, the soft stung in his neck slowly but constantly grew bigger and bigger.

The pain was now in his throat, something was definitely inside of him now. Something was moving quickly through his neck, he felt it cut open the skin, drawing a crimson smile. The smile grew wider, showing its teeth to the world, and slowly saliva dripped off its mouth. At first, it trinkled slowly and then, as if it realized the attention it received, started to pour down on his clothes, and the alien cutting him. The river became a waterfall, it poured down so fast, so quickly.

Jerry's teeth started to chatter as he dropped his spear. His feet and his hands started to numb, started to feel little dots inside of them poking their way out of he coughed once, then twice. The first time, the blood barely passed his lips but the second time, he pratically vomited the blood out of his mouth. The taste, the feeling, the texture, the pain, it was too much. He felt the blood dancing in-between his teeth while he gagged.

He turned around, his throat made a sickening sounds as if it ripped open. He had to see the attacker, he had to see them. The person who did this, they had to pay too, he had to make them pay. When he did turn around, he just met the darkness and only one thought stayed behind as his soul left his body.

How long has he been there?

Irritated. Exhausted. Hungry. He really needed a break.

((Brendan Harte continued from Just People In A Messed Up Place))

So why had he come here? He shouldn't have gone somewhere that felt creepy. But it had been his decision. So he had to take responsibility for his actions. He felt too frustrated to rest right then. He could hear voices ahead of him so he was hesitant to waltzes right in. He was sure that he could recognise one of the voices. That male voice was not that hard to forget.

Michael's voice.

He edged a bit closer to the door and he pushed the door slightly to be able to peek inside. He could clearly see that Michael was taunting a girl with blue hair on the ground. It just irked Brendan so much to see that Michael was still the same asshole that Brendan knew. Just like Darius was a complete douche. Why would he think that they would change here? It was never going to happen. People who are cruel will never change. Brendan should have realized that sooner.

Brendan could see that another guy was in the room but the guy's back was to him. Brendan moved his foot a little and he tapped against something. He glanced down and he saw that it was a bit of broken glass. He suddenly felt lucky. As he been too angry before to ask Jonathan about the glass that was in the hoodie that Brendan had given him. Now he didn't have to worry about not having a weapon again.

He picked it up carefully with his hand and he peered back into the room again. Michael was still taunting the girl. Brendan didn't even hear him call her Nancy as he was clouded with thoughts of anger. He wanted to put Michael in his place. Make him pay for being so mean, so cruel. But how?

Kill the other guy, Brendan. You can save the girl.

Brendan knew just then that he had to take action. He couldn't be a coward anymore. He had to stand up. Which he did by slowly sneaking into the room and he was now behind Jerry. He wasn't sure if Michael and the girl had noticed. But he didn't care. He had to stop one of these would-be killers. And he was going to do that now.

He pierced the shard through the back of Jerry's neck and he pushed it in deep. Then he let it go. He cut his palm in the process, his blood dripping onto the ground. He took a few steps back as the boy turned to face him. Then Jerry collapsed onto the floor in front of him. Brendan couldn't think straight.

What had he just done...?

"Yeah?" No emotion, no fear.

No fucking remorse.

"Yeah?! Fucking yeah!? That's all you have to say you bitch?!" Nancy's very existence infuriated Michael. No 'I'm sorry's' no 'Please don't kill me, I didn't mean it' none of that shit. Just 'yeah'. They weren't even resigned to their fate, no, she was thinking that they weren't a threat, that she'd get out of this okay. You smug bitch.

Smug fucking bitch...

Michael sent his Jordan clad heel right into Nancy's nose, sending her reeling back. She was lucky Michael wasn't the one to kill her, the sick fuck. Jerry wanted the kill, Jerry was gonna get the kill. This Charles Manson wannabe was trying to get to him, but he wasn't gonna let her. She lost, they won. She wanted to act like she won, but she didn't.  Any more smug talk from her, and Michael would stomp her again.

"C'mon Jerry, let's get this over with, bitch had this comin' for a long time."

Jerry replied.

With... a gurgle?

"Well, come o-"

Wait what?!

Michael turned his head to see Jerry bleeding a river out of his neck, shortly before falling over. He had to double take what had happened. No way, there was no way he could die. Not this far into it. What the fuck?! Michael's jaw dropped in shock as he watched his friend drop to the murky water, the area turning red around him. He stared at the bastard  that was standing behind him.

Why?

The rat....

That fucking snitch...

Michael's breath rattled.

Brendan fucking Harte! He was gonna die. Michael was gonna fucking kill him! That little sneaky rat fuck! That coward bitch! That tall lanky stack of shit! He wasn't gonna just hang, he was gonna get drawn a- Those fuckers were teamed up the whole time! Brendan was wit- Oh shit, Nancy! It's a fuckin' ambush!

Nancy was still below him in arms reach of her own weapon. He had to kill her now! She wasn't getting a get out of hell free card this time.

Kill her, then kill Brendan. They both had to die for this.

Michael raised his axe, arms extended above him, ready to bring it down on her head.

Michael screamed.

Nancy's face exploded in pain again as Michael's foot connected with her nose. Her vision blurred and she shifted backward. Michael called to Jerry to finish her off, but Jerry didn't move, and Nancy figured out why the same time Michael did.

Michael turned toward Jerry's killer, but Nancy's mind was addled, clouded with pain. Her fingers opened and closed, trying to get them working again. She moved it around, feeling the floor for the hatchet.

Michael roared, and Nancy's hand found the hatchet, and she swung, the blunt side of the weapon connecting with Michael's ankle. She quickly stood up, wobbled a bit, and then ran past the mystery person and out the door.

Nancy never got a good look at her would-be killer's killer. But that was fine.

Brendan couldn't even pay attention to what was happening around him. All he could do was stare down at Jerry's body. He needed a few moments to snap out of it. But the blood.... There was so much blood. The guy was dead and Brendan had just murdered him. Why did he just do that? What the hell was wrong with him? Has he finally lost it? Definitely. He couldn't take this back. He had to carry this with him. He could felt guilt and shock settling inside him. He wouldn't have time to let out his emotions.

Brendan heard Michael's yell. The girl had ran pass him. He had just save someone's life. But he had took away Jerry's. Has the guy deserved it? Brendan didn't know anymore. He felt so conflicted. He felt so tired. He had no idea what he should do next. Stay? Leave? Michael would come after him. Want revenge.

He wanted to turn and walk away. He could feel bile raising up in his throat. But he held it back down. He couldn't be sick right now. He had to stay calm.

He focused towards where Michael was. He didn't move a muscle. He didn't speak.

Michael screamed.

He felt his foot give way underneath him as he fell ass first into the water. He looked up and saw Nancy running off, hatchet in hand.

"Get the fuck back here!"

He got to his feet and stumbled, his right leg was shaking from where Nancy smashed him in the ankle. He limped after Nancy, but he knew she was too far gone, he could hear the splashes disappearing down the hall. His axe drug behind him on the wet ground as he moved towards the doorway.

He'd kill Nancy, but not now. She got lucky now.

His eyes trailed to Brendan. He brought his axe up, his right arm catching the end of it as he simply stood there and stared at him. This fucking idiot. He kills Jerry, then has the fucking cajones to sit and stare at him. What?! Did he want to taunt him. 'Ha-ha I killed your friend, and let a murderer get away'.

Spiteful cunt... That spiteful cunt...

Because of him, Nancy got away, she got lucky. Because of Brendan, that murdering whore got off lucky, and now she was gonna murder more people. And what did he get to show for his efforts?

Jerry was dead. Jerry was fucking dead. Michael felt his chest heave, his breathing getting faster.

Nancy got lucky, because of that little rat bastard.

She wouldn't get lucky again...

Michael screamed again and lunged forward, his axe raised above his head.

He wasn't gonna let another murderer get out from under him.

Brendan noticed that Michael was charging towards him with the axe. He didn't have any time to think. He had to protect himself. Grab something. Anything. He couldn't reason with Michael. He had to move.

Brendan did just that. He dodged to the side as Michael came towards him. He almost tripped over Jerry's body in the process of doing so. He gazed down quickly at what Jerry's weapon was. He had to take it. Even though, he felt so bad about what he had done. He didn't want to die right now. Not yet.

He yanked the weapon out of Jerry's limp hands. The action made him feel so low. It made him feel so wrong. But....

He held up the weapon, pointing it in Michael's direction. His hands were trembling while he was holding it. He was afraid. Of course, he was. Anyone would be with their lives on the line. He was not the fighting type but if he wanted to live long enough to see his friends....

Get rid of him, Brendan. You know he will still be a threat if you let him live....

No. He wasn't going to kill Michael. He had to say something. Anything.

".....Michael...."

Michael's axe barely missed Brendan as he ran out into the hallway. His axe had grinded against the stone wall, the sensation freezing Michael's teeth as it slid down the wall. He turned around and haphazardly swung the axe behind him, missing again. He bit his lower lip as Brendan stole Jerry's spear. The spear he made for him. His own axe raised up past his shoulder, they were at a standstill.

Brendan now had a weapon, he was gonna fight back with all he had... Michael still had his own weapon, he was gonna fight back with all he had as well...

Brendan had range, but Michael had power, raw power. He'd win this yet.

That's when Brendan spoke up, said his name. Was he gonna try to talk his way out? No, Michael wouldn't let him. Too late for that. Your chances diminished the second you put that blade in Jerry's neck. The time for talking was over, now it's the time for acting.

Michael lurched forward, and faked raising his axe, before lowering it and cycling it into an uppercut, going low to high.

Michael didn't care if he knocked Jerry's spear from Brendan's hands, or if he split his dick down the middle, all he wanted was to make the connection.

He screamed again as he brought the axe up.
