Darlene and Sakurako Both Had One-shots and Abe Didn’t Want to Feel Left Out Even Though He Doesn’t Have Much to Say Now

((Abe could leave them at any time.))

He just had to remember that. Darlene and Sakurako weren’t Axel, or Forrest, or Hel, or even fuckin’ Andy. If they were the last three left alive he’d gun both of them down without a second thought.

The fire was nice, though. A couple nights ago he’d tried to pull off some bullshit he half-remembered from reality TV he’d half-watched, but he’d failed miserably and then decided he hadn’t wanted to do it all along, because lighting a fire was lighting a beacon and his whole life right now was supposed to be about flying under the radar, right?

Well, they’d lit the beacon, but weirdly enough Abe didn’t feel too endangered. He was pretty sure that Sakurako had killed someone, because she had a distinct name and it’d been just that morning, and he was probably one of the only people left who knew about Darlene’s sins, but neither of them seemed like they’d shoot him in his sleep.

He still kept one hand on his gun, though, most of the time.

Except for when he’d had to help Darlene out with the cigarette lighter with all his couple years of experience.

In another life he would’ve found it hilarious to try and get her to smoke up with him. She seemed like the type of girl who unironically memorized all the sayings on the D.A.R.E. pamphlets. The thought made him smile. Just a little. He had to remember where he was, though. Who he was.

((He could ditch them whenever he wanted. No second thoughts. Easy.))
