Room Who Cares: Whatever

Private

The hotel where the senior students are housed for the week of their trip. Students are housed three or four to a room, and rooms are divided by gender. The students have full access to the hotel's facilities, pool, and recreation areas during the day, but there is a strict nighttime curfew, and everyone must be in their rooms by 10 PM each night.

Room Who Cares: Whatever

#1

Post by Deamon »

((Forrest Quin continued from Roof 101: Blank))

Knock, knock, knock.

"Abe."

To take stock, she wasn't happy. She was far from happy, but she had an idea of what could make it better. The brainwave had struck her as she had been sat on the roof while Julien played therapist. He hadn't done a good job. No, her current mood was tanked precisely due to his intervention in her chill time. But the one good thing he had done was make her realize that there was someone she could see. It wasn't any of the obvious suspects. Not Andy, nor Mikki. Neither was it Charelle or Teresa...or Blaise she supposed. It was a solution so obvious she wondered why she hadn't figured it out before.

Alright, so the answer to that was obvious, she was a stupid fucking mess for one and had forgotten because that was what she did.

Abe was there, he was her boyfriend. They'd been going out since...that part wasn't as important. They'd been going out for a while.

Three more knocks.

"Abe."

She wanted to see him now more than anything. He would be there for her. She wanted him to be there for her. He was comfort and safety. He didn't and wouldn't judge her. He just needed to answer the door.

Three more knocks.

"Abe."

She couldn't immediately remember the last time she had seen him. She knew it must have happened but she had no memory of it. Maybe it was an important sign, maybe it wasn't but that could wait. They could make a memory. Something she could plaster over her prom night and when she had arrived at the hotel. He just needed to answer the door.

Three more knocks.

"Abe."

((Abe.))

There was a dull thud. Well, technically multiple dull thuds if you count the knocking, but this was a heftier impact.

"Abe," Abe said, picking himself off of the floor and scrambling towards the door. He'd been sprawled out on his bed, comfy in shorts and his prized t-shirt that mysteriously said "HURRICANE DICK'S" (a gift from a friend, who didn't have an explanation either but knew Abe would have wanted it on his body) watching some Youtube chucklefuck tear apart some 80's schlock movie no one had ever heard or cared about, and in his rush to answer Forrest; he'd fukken flopped onto the ground like a fish.

Abe opened the door. He had won the roommate assignment lottery and gotten the fabled "well the male student body isn't divisible by four so I guess there's gotta be one room that just has two dudes in it" room, and the other dude was out swimming with his bros, so Abe had the place to himself for a while.

"Babe, what's up?" His concern didn't show on his face, because he was Mr. Robot Face, but it still crept into his voice a bit, because he was concerned. At first he'd thought the knocking and "Abe"ing had just been like, part of the bit, because Forrest had many bits (haha wow that sounded kinda lewd, he hadn't meant it like that, honest) but she definitely seemed. Out of it.

Things had been a bit weird between them for a while. Not like, horrifically weird, they'd still had good times and shit, but like. Abe'd gotten stomach flu and spent all of prom night at home shitting his guts out, which was still a better experience than Forrest had had, with her broken arm and all, and it was stupid but he felt kinda guilty about it? Like, if he had been her date there things woulda turned out differently, because the butterfly effect and shit would've carried Forrest away from the deadly flight of stairs she'd stumbled on? It'd be stupid and pointless and dumb to act a bit weird and distant because he was feeling guilty for no real reason, but he was Abe, so he kinda had been. Not majorly, because he didn't fukken do anything in a major way. Just like, an undercurrent, y'know?

Forrest was in front of him right now and that was what was important, goddammit.

There he was.

She was glad to see him.

Forrest leant forward, wrapped her arms around his body and buried her face against him.

"I fucked it up." She said.

Ah, hell. The moment he'd seen Forrest's face, Abe figured nothing good was gonna happen that night, and her words only served to confirm that, unless she was gonna be all like 'I fucked it up and spent $50 on a novelty t-shirt, oh no" or some shit like that, hahaha, who was he kidding this was gonna be terrible.

His heart pounding, Abe hugged Forrest back; one arm tightly around her, one hand gently caressing her hair. One foot subtly nudging the door shut, because nobody in the hall or whatever needed to be a part of this.

"What's wrong? What happened?" He asked softly, dreading the answer. Couldn't even bring himself to try and think of specific things to be afraid of.

And that was the difference.

It felt better. She felt better from saying it, even if she wasn't sure what saying it really meant. But she felt safe and that was important. Abe cared, she could feel he cared. The situation felt different. The terms were hers to do with as she wanted.

But for that moment all she wanted was to be where she was, in Abe's arm.

This was what she deserved.

So she stayed there, and just let it be a moment, the time ever expanding out. It would all end and snap back when she decided. It was up to her. She had a lot of time to think about everything, about her week, and what she had done before that. It all led to a question in black and white that she didn't have any good explanation for. One that she didn't want to give an answer for.

"I don't know. I just...I don't...It's..." A shaky sigh. "I don't know."

A+

Well, if even Forrest didn't know, then what the hell was Abe supposed to think? Nothing. He'd settle with thinking about nothing for a while, because his gut was getting all twisted and he didn't wanna encourage it. He wasn't used to seeing Forrest upset, like really upset, and he was finding that he didn't like it one bit, no sir. Was it because he cared that much about her? Or was he just uncomfortable with having to deal with such fukken raw emotion? He wasn't sure how charitable a reading he deserved.

"You wanna talk about it? Or just lemme hold you for a bit?" Abe asked, still stroking her hair.

Ball in her court, she could do with it whatever she wanted.

Two choices, 50/0ϛ chance of making the right one. Not good odds for her. Plus it was blind because how did you know which one was right? Time and butterfly wings played tricks on you. It was scary, but every so often a choice was needed. Him stroking her hair was really nice though. She snuggled in closer.

She was crossfaded. That part had slipped her mind. She had barely eaten all day because that was her life apparently and then she'd gone to the roof and her long, relaxed chill session had been turned into something else and now she was starting to feel it. She blinked a few times. Oh no.

"I need to lie down." She said, but she didn't move. She just stayed in place, holding Abe and having him stroke her hair.

She was never good at sports.

"Bed's all yours," Abe said, hoping his roommate wouldn't be back anytime soon. Not like they were like, doing anything narc-worthy, but still, he was pretty sure the chaperones frowned on having dudes and ladies alone in their rooms, together, which seemed kinda fuckin' narrow-minded considering, like, gay people, but whatever, they'd have all the gay orgies they wanted, which would be zero, because this was still a school trip and the logistics would be annoyingly complicated.

Forrest didn't seem particularly inclined to move, which he didn't blame her for because this was kinda nice, even with all the fucking stress and weird ambiguity with like, the whole situation, but still. Holding your girlfriend was a simple pleasure.

Still, like, it seemed like she really needed to lie down. Abe started to gently guide Forrest in the direction of the bed.

Forrest let Abe take her to bed and she pulled him down with her as she lay. Not forcefully, but noticeably. She didn't want to let go. The thing she wanted was right there with her, or was it elsewhere in the building? She didn't know anymore. It was a mess, she had thought she'd known. But she couldn't say for sure anymore.

She was just held and kept safe. Not that she could ever really be kept safe, because a look in the mirror could tell her what the problem was. But the for the time it was enough and she valued it. She pulled Abe closer and thought about how they'd come to be. It was a blur and hard to remember. She couldn't quite trace it. A party, she was sure of that but she didn't know when. They got high a lot and there was that one time when they...no memory came and her train of thought came to a sheepish stop.

Guilt was the next emotion to pass. She couldn't remember the last time she had thought about Abe. It felt like months. They had seen each other she was sure of it, but she couldn't remember any of those times.

Maybe it was an important sign, maybe it wasn't but that could wait.

They could make a memory.

She wanted to make a memory.

She deserved it.

So Forrest lifted her head up and kissed Abe.

This was a bad idea.

Abe returned Forrest's kiss.

Something was up with her. They needed to be talking, not... this.

She was soft and cute and he held something between affection and love in his heart for her, tinted with a bit of lust, of course.

He didn't like thinking, even at the best of times.

Abe held her closer. Kissed her harder. Ran his hand down her back.

This was it. This was what she wanted.

Odds be damned she had nailed it.

She continued to kiss Abe as his hand went down her back. Her immediate feeling of unease being fought down. She had been here before with others. There were steps to follow. They were just doing that.

She enjoyed being wanted and she wanted him back.

The momentum of that kiss carried Abe further. He and Forrest had done plenty of making out, sober or otherwise, in their time; but had never gone past that. That'd been fine by him. Fuckin' wasn't fun if everyone involved wasn't fully into it.

And hey, she was into it. Maybe it was time for him to push a bit. He didn't even have to try to not think, now. He wormed his hand under her shirt, kept caressing her.

She felt the hand against her skin and shivered.

She kissed Abe harder, fighting back the other feelings.

The moment starting to take her away from everything else.

Breathless. Flushed.

His other hand started to go lower.

Then it all ended.

She felt Abe’s other hand moving lower and she didn't feel any urge to go further. She thought that she should, but she had no desire to. She never did. Just a sense of unease.

Nobody had ever really asked her and she avoided asking herself but in that moment she was more aware and suddenly everything made sense.

A lightbulb went off.

She pulled away—a classic Forrest move—and stopped his hand with her good arm. She felt uncomfortable and she felt bad for the others, Andy and Blaise.

“I don’t think I’m into this.” She said quietly.
