Located on the second floor of the art block, the art rooms are two large square rooms joined together by a computer room with equipment to allow students to edit photos or create digital art. The art rooms themselves feature groups of four desks with an adjustable service to allow for more comfort when students are drawing. There are also easels easily accessible in storage closets behind the teachers' desks in each room. Art students are allowed to come and go as they please to work on any projects or assignments they have, as the art department value and stress the importance of independent learning.

Sierra held up her sketchbook and showed a picture of an armadillo. It was very nice. However, Ned couldn't ignore that porn comment.

"That looks pretty cute," Ned said. "but, for the record, anime isn't all porn. It's like any other media. There are different genres like action, romance, and comedy."

Ned reached into the paper bag and pulled out the apple. He stared at the apple for a few seconds. The light in the room glistened off the red skin and shadowed the underside. Ned had an idea. He walked over to Sierra and placed the apple in front of her.

"Here," he said, "how about you sketch this? It's not much, but it's something."

"Don't know. Didn't read its nametag." Sierra replied sarcastically to Forrest's question. "If you want to call it Roll then sure, that can be its name."

Sierra listened to Ned's explanation on how anime wasn't all porn, shrugging at his explanation. Whatever, if he enjoyed that stuff that was his business not her's. Once he was done he walked over and placed an apple on her desk, offering it as her subject to draw. It was a nice gesture on his part, but...

"Thanks, but no thanks." She picked up the apple and offered it back to him. "It's just a little too simple to draw. I mean, anyone can draw an apple. I'm looking to draw something a little more complicated."

She turned her head to see Altan enter the room, but he seemed to ignore them and headed straight for the cabinets. She figured he must be here for the same reason she was: to do some art. He was a rather nice guy and normally should would have said hello, but he looked pretty tired and didn't seem in the mood for conversation. Which she suppose was fine. She'd leave him alone for now, let him focus on his work. Hopefully he'll have an easier time coming up with something than she was.

She turned attention to Forrest. "You got any requests, Quin?" She paused for a moment, thinking. She chuckled then added, "Want to be drawn as a snake lady, perhaps?"

Sticking on the porn thing didn't seem like the best thing for the conversation. Forrest quietly watched and picked at her pack of nuts waiting for Ned and Sierra to move on. As that was going on Altan Ochir entered the room. He didn't greet or acknowledge any of them as strode across the room though, so her eyes were only taken away from Sierra's and Ned's conversation for a few moments. When they returned though the conversation had moved on from porn and Sierra was handing the apple back to Ned.

Art wasn't her strong suit. She wasn't good at it nor was she bad. She was the Switzerland of art. But, despite that she was fairly sure that there was an entire genre of art based around random everyday objects being painted in highly detailed images. The name of it eluded her. It was two words her brain had figured out that much but the actual words were dancing just out of the reach of her conscious mind. Just another thing forgotten into the blur of space and time.

Then Sierra asked Forrest if she'd be interested in being drawn as a snake lady.

She thought about the offer for all of .5 seconds.

"Sure, let's do it."

Fortunately for Altan, no one had mentioned him. He shot a thankful glance in Sierra's direction, albeit he couldn't deny he felt slightly discarded that none of them had even let their gazes linger on him for more than 5 seconds. Still, this allowed him to do his work. Setting up the canvas, Altan felt as if he was in a haze from his fatigue. He reprimanded himself, knowing that there was no chance for him to get anything meaningful or worthwhile done if he was distracted, and so he decided that he would just have to start his painting and follow the flow of the paint stroke from there.

He dipped his paintbrush in azure ink, swishing the brush across the canvas and observing how the colour was isolated from the vast blankness of the remainder of the piece. Altan questioned himself, but he couldn't deny that despite his strange mood he was making progress, regardless of the quality. Altan's hand danced across his anvas, coating the page with an intricate and colourful design.

Altan smiled blissfully and serenely, his eyes following each line. He prevented his eyes from fluttering shut prior to grabbing his canvas and lightly laying it down on the drying rack, before taking a seat on the table. He considered just falling asleep on the table, but he knew it was risky and he would most likely either be caught and punished or ridiculed. So, as a countermeasure, he pulled his Biology textbook out of his bag and held it in front of him, concealing his closed eyes with the seeming exterior that he was studying. It wouldn't be a good rest, but nonetheless it was better than just remaining entirely awake.

He released a tired groan, and then he closed his eyes for what he hoped would be long enough to recover from his fatigue.

Sierra had rejected his offer to use his apple, but she seemed to appreciate it. Looks like she settled on drawing Forrest as a snake lady. At least she's out of her funk.

Just then, another guy walked into the art room. He had set up a paint canvas and was painting a rather nice picture. While that was going, Ned was biting into the apple that got rejected from being a potential sketch subject. Ned had some slight envy towards the more artistic students. He was more of an actor, but maybe if he knew how to draw, he could make his own animations. Still, that didn't stop him from appreciating others for their artistic talent and skill. After the guy placed his painting on the drying rack, Ned wanted to compliment him on the work he did. However, he seemed more interested in taking a nap.

Ned finished up the apple and his Dr. Pepper, and threw them in the trash. He decided to stick around a bit to see how the sketch turned out.

"So, a snake person," Ned said as he took a seat near Forrest and Sierra, "How will that work? Are you going to have half her body be a snake's tail, or are you going to sketch a scaly human?"

"I don't know..." Sierra grimaced slightly. She honestly didn't expect Forrest to agree to the suggestion, since she meant it more as a joke than anything seriously worth considering. Whatever. It didn't matter now, at least she have something to draw. "You got a preference, Quin?"

She looked over to Forrest, her eyes looking her over. She studied her features carefully, making sure to note the details of her face in particular. Once she was satisfied with her analysis she returned her attention back to her sketchbook. She picked her pencil back up and she placed the tip to the page, starting the process of drawing Forrest the snake lady. She'd start with the head, figuring she had to make sure it looked right before she could focus on the rest of the body.

She didn't know what she'll do with the hair. Snakes obviously lacked hair, so maybe it would be best to make her bald? She recalled that Forrest had dreadlocks at one point. Sierra felt it was a bit of a shame Forrest didn't have those any more. It would have been easy to have a reason to give her Medusa-like snake hair. Or maybe she'd give it to her anyway. Half a head of snake hair. It was something to consider.

As she drew her eyes briefly wandered away from the page and over to Altan's position, noticing he was drifting off to sleep. It would seem he was done painting so maybe he could come over join them if he wasn't too tired. It would be nice to have a friend join this... interesting conversation.

"Yo, Altan." She called over to him. "You alright over there?"

Like, one or the other didn't matter to Forrest. None of it really mattered in like a real actual sense, it was just a fun little distraction.  So in her opinion, not being an artist that actually physically had to spend the time drawing out her art, but having a working knowledge of the artistic process. Not that she didn't have a process, but deciding to do something just because she thought it would be funny or hype wasn't technically a real process.

She could see Sierra's eyes running over her and assumed it was for the purposes of her drawing. It would have been hella awkward if it wasn't. She decided to avoid any awkwardness by just ignoring it and brushed up the curls of her hair with her free hand, while the other guided nuts into her mouth as they made their final journey from—apparently not that far away, they actually came from America. Score one for Whole Foods—their fields in America to being consumed for her sustenance.

Shrugging she responded to Sierra's question.

"A scaly me would be cool, but whichever you'd prefer y'know. You're the one with the talent here."

As Sierra addressed Altan, Forrest turned her upper body to face him and gave him a wave.

"There's gonna be a drawing of a snakeperson if you're interested."

Altan was so close to falling asleep. Despite that, as fate would have it, he would be interrupted. He felt dazed and groggy but Sierra's voice cut through his jumbbled mind, "Yo, Altan." Altan's eyes snapped open, suddenly alert. He sighed heavily, before proceeding to glance over at Sierra's table where she was unfortunately still with Forrest and Ned. Nevermind, he could bare them for a brief period anyway.

"You alright over there?"

Altan thought that was a bit of a strange question. He understood the connotations and had used the phrase himself on multiple occasions but now he thought about it, surely most people to whom that question was inquired were perfectly alright. It's not as if the asker intended to receive "No," as a response and thus they were just asking for reassurance or as an invitation. Regardless, Altan acknowledged he'd been silent for quite a while and so he looked up at her and responded, some evidence of fatigue still present in his voice. "Yeah, I'm fine, I'm just really sleepy..."

Almost as soon as he had said those words, Altan was anxious. They sounded idiotic, he thought, or self-pitying. It wasn't so much that there was even an error in the sentence but more how he had said it. He hoped it didn't come off as unnatural. Altan was pretty sure most people weren't always so worried as he was in situations like this, but it didn't really matter to him. Sierra was a friend, sure, but not so much of one that he could really be "himself" around her, or whatever that term meant, unlike with Mimi or Camille. And because of that, he had to ensure they remained friends and wouldn't let a series of stupid comments lessen her opinion of him.

Whenever Altan felt remotely melancholy regarding this topic, he liked to parallel himself to a hidden treasure chest of sorts. His outer personality made him seem alluring while his interior was reserved for whoever could find a key. That reassured him slightly, and so he merely anticipated a reply. Maybe he'd even be invited over to their table? In the back of his mind, Altan doubted, but nonetheless he had some hope. At that very moment, Forrest spoke.

"There's going to be a drawing of a snakeperson if you're interested."

Altan slightly recoiled at the statement, but he couldn't deny it had gained his interest. He truly was intrigued.

Ned plopped into a seat near the two girls and pulled out his phone.

"Hey," Ned said to Sierra, "do you like to listen to music while you work? I can play something you like if you want."

Ned began to scroll through his personal playlist on Youtube.

"I doubt you'd be interested in any of these anime themes I have in my playlist."

He looked over at Altan.

"Sorry for waking you, dude," Ned said to the tired boy. Now that he was awake, Ned might as well ask. "What were you painting?," Ned continued, "It looked nice."

"I see." She muttered at Altan's response. It was pretty obvious to anyone that he was sleepy, anyone with a working frontal lobe could see that, but she wasn't going to say anything about it or call attention to the poor boy. Altan was a nice enough guy and he was a friend. They weren't exactly close friends, but friends none the less. "Want to come join us?" She asked. "You look like you could use the company."

She looked over to Ned. "Thanks, but I'm fine." She said, returning her attention back to her book. "I sometimes listen to music when I draw to help put me in the mood, but I usually wear headphones." Briefly, she shot a glance to Ned's phone. "I'm sure you guys would rather I be in this conversation than ignoring you all by listening to music." Admittedly she had not intended to be in a conversation in the first place when she first entered the art room as she just wanted to focus on her work, but if she hadn't she wouldn't have started drawing. So there's that...

"If you want to put on music then be my guest. I don't care." She shrugged. "Speakers suck on cell phones anyway."

She continued to sketch out her drawing, having decided to merely do the upper body of snake lady Forrest. Periodically she'd glance over to Forrest just to be sure she was getting her facial features right, only occasionally erasing and making an adjust to her work. She had also decided to wing it and go with giving the Forrest in the picture snake hair, drawn in a way that it was similar to Forrest's hair style, and was currently drawing each individual snake that made up the hair.

Was the conversation really going back to anime again?

Luckily it was only a brief detour back into it but for a minute there Forrest had been worried. It was one thing to bring it up once but Ned kept returning to that well. It wouldn't run out of water either, there seemed to be more anime's in existence then other shows on TV. Not that she even watched much TV, unless Netflix counted...did Netflix count? It wasn't like TV TV where you had to sit through adverts about how the newest medicine was really good for you and would help your back problem but make you dick stop working. That was most of what Forrest remembered from real TV, voices-overs talking really fast about the side-effect of pills and then cars. A lot of adverts about cars.

"Speakers on cellphones are like listening to music through a tin can. You can do it, but like why would you?" Forrest shrugged at the end of her sentence and finished off the peanuts, putting the empty packet into her Tupperware box before placing that back into her bag.

"What are you guys doing this weekend?"

"Well, I was probably going to see a movie," said Ned to Forrest, "I've heard good things about the new Jumanji movie."

Ned looked at his phone. Opening up the Google app, he searched up local movie theater releases and times. Other movies out at the moment looked interesting, to say the least, but nothing catered to Ned's interests.

"Really wish it were summer already," Ned continued, "I'm really looking forward to the next Jurassic Park movie. Also, the Black Panther film is coming next month."

Ned wasn't sure if any of the other students in the room were interested in either dinosaurs or super heroes, but just in case, he changed the subject from films.

"Maybe I'll play some video games and practice more voice work too. What about you guys?"

"I don't know, I might spend the weekend outside my house." Sierra said with an unenthusiastic shrug as she drew. "Mom's a teacher so she's usually home on the weekends, and I really don't want to put up with her bullshit."

Sierra pressed the erasure of her pencil to her lips, looking over her work so far. She glanced over to Forrest and back to the page. So far she felt she had captured the other girl's features quite well, and the snake hair was looking pretty badass. So now it's time to painstakingly draw the snake scales, so she placed the tip of the pencil to the page once more, starting at the end and deciding to work her way down.

"So I might just go out to the woods outside of town and hang around out there, or hang out in town with some friends, or practice my archery. Or some combination of the three." She continued, "Of course, if no one is available and the weather is particularly shitty I might be stuck at home. In that case I'm probably going to end up drawing or half-heartedly watching uploaded movies on YouTube that have been edited to shit to avoid being pulled for copyright, or maybe both until one becomes more engrossing than the other. Either way, so long as it kills a few hours I don't care."

She paused briefly to consider her drawing once more, thinking of scale patterns. Just plain uniform colored scales would be uninteresting, so she considered giving them a pattern, like a ring pattern or a stripe pattern. After a moment of thought she settled on a diamond pattern. Forrest seemed like the sort who'd have a diamond pattern if she were a snake.

"Next week I should have more going on since my birthday is on Wednesday. Probably going to wait 'til the weekend to actually do stuff for my birthday, since it means I'll have more free time to do stuff than I would if I just waited until school was out. Probably drag a few friends along to celebrate."

That moment when everyone had real plans for their weekend and hers was just stay at home, play games and drink. Awk.

Both Ned and Sierra seemed to have actual plans that involved going to do something or meeting people or y'know going outside. Forrest didn't really have any of that. She probably should have had something, she had friends she could have hung out with. She had close friends she could have just invited out to meet up or something.

It was something she probably needed to sort out. See if Charelle and Mikki were free. Maybe check what Teresa was up to.

Orrrr there was her boyfriend Abe. She could meet up with him and go for lunch. Yeah that was what she would do.

She nodded and smiled as the others finished off saying their plans.

"That all sounds cool. I think I might be meeting up with some people for lunch."

There was a pause for a moment as she flicked some of her hair out of her face before turning her focus more to Sierra.

"You planning on having a party or just a small thing with friends?"

She knew that the main split in birthday celebrations tended to be between those two types of parties. A large extravagant one where teens took part in a re-enactment of the last party they'd had with the only changes being that people vaguely remembered all the drama of last one and talked about it for most of the new one. As far as she knew. She was drunk for most of them. The other option of course was that you just got together with friends, had a chill day and maybe got drunk later or just tipsy, personal preference.

"Probably just a small thing with friends," She said, her pencil doing repeating motions as she drew the scales. "Got some money saved up and I was thinking of going out and getting a tattoo and some piercings now that I will be old enough to get them without trying to get my parents to agree to let me to get them."

Alright, she was almost done with the picture. All she needed to do was complete the finishing touches and it would be ready to show off.

"I would like to throw a party, but my parents are never really gone long enough to get a chance to throw a party at my house. Even if I did, if they found out they would probably disown me. Like, actually disown me, with paper work." Thinking on it, how long has it been since she actually had a birthday party? At least a few years now, no doubt. The last was probably back in middle school, not that she could recall any details of it. Since she entered high school she has had birthdays that were exclusively just her hanging out with friends, something she started doing after her 14th birthday.

She frowned at that particular memory. The less said about her 14th birthday the better.

Breathing a sigh she placed her pencil down upon the desk's surface. "There, finished." She said, picking up her sketchbook and turning it to face towards the others. "How's it look?" The page displayed the snake lady Forrest in all her serpent glory. She was drawn from the torso up, dressed in a tank top to show off the snake skin better and showed off diamond pattern on the scales running up the length of her arms. Her haired had been replaced with snakes, formed in the same style that Forrest wore her hair with the snakes coming out from one side of her head, and her eyes were drawn with proper snake eyes.
