Centennial Park is nicely balanced between dedicated fitness space and convivial social usage. Athletes love the two baseball diamonds, large green perfect for a weekend game of football or soccer, and well-tended jogging trail that circles the park. People looking for relaxation gravitate to the picnic pavilions and barbeque grills sprinkled throughout, the horseshoe pits, lawn bowling courts, large play structure for children, and a water feature that is active during the summer to cool off visitors.

((Cassandra Black continued from Diversions))

Cassandra enjoyed being outside when it was not raining.

At first, when she had moved to Seattle, it had seemed minor relative to everything else she was going through. It almost had felt like a movie; it always rains whenever someone dies or there is a big breakup. However, as Cassandra saw her therapist and eased back into some sense of normalcy, the constant rain grew to irritate her. She could not just go walk to the library and enjoy nice, sunny weather on the way. Winter did not really happen either, it was just more rain. No white, just perpetual grey.

But this Saturday morning had no rain. It was sunny, and Cassandra was going to enjoy the sun. She glanced up from her book and briefly watched a group of boys playing basketball. She had sat on this bench so that she could see the basketball courts and the people enjoying the weather.

Cassandra smiled briefly, then turned back to her book. Cassandra loved nothing more than a good story.
