It was November, but Cassidy had been ready to Christmas shop all year. She strode through the mall, bouncing on the ball of her foot with every step.

Brookstone would be a good place to start. They have classy and sciencey things there. And if she didn't find anything, she had nearly two months left.

She was approaching the kiosks. Oh! These people usually have different ideas for gifts.

She walked past the Pillow Pet stand, but glanced over and smiled to herself. What kid wouldn't love that?

But she was here for grown-ups. Boring grown-ups for that matter.

A little sibling would have been nice.

She briefly reflected on having deeply desired one. Not one she would have gone to school with, but a significantly younger one. One she could spoil with gifts and attention.

Probably for the best, she mused, they'd have turned out bratty.

She approach the perfume booth. This is classy. And kinda fun!

She accepted the offered sample, and raised her chin so the woman had a clear shot at her neck.

She closed her eyes and let the scent envelop her senses.

"Oh! Sorry! Yes, I'll take this one." She handed over the money, and took the bag with her change.

The small plastic bag was quickly opened. She examined the glass bottle and wandered off. The peppy hop between steps was gone, and her expression of excitement was replaced with one of wonder. Gears were whirring in her head, she could shop later.
