The elderly Mrs. Faust has been hanging on for several years now, though there is little hope of a full recovery, and Mr. Faust is mainly biding his time and helping his siblings care for her and foot the medical bills.
Mr. Faust makes it no secret that he is often frustrated with the current state of his life, and unfortunately that frustration gets misdirected at his students, particularly those who slack off or fool around in class. He is a strict teacher and something of a perfectionist, and his students either greatly like or dislike him, with few feeling indifferent. He is willing to work one-on-one with promising musicians, though those that take him up on it report that his tutoring can be a harrowing experience.
