Yasmine Skinner

NPCs (non-player characters) go here. This section is for characters who will not be participating in the game, including teachers and school administration. To encourage consistency, the staff have created a number of ready-made teachers, all of whom are available for free handler use unless stated otherwise. Please link any appearances these staff make in threads by replying to their topics. For this pregame, any additional NPCs will require staff approval on a case-by-case basis. Please contact staff if you wish to create any NPCs, and note that we will generally be trying to keep their numbers slim; pregame is, first and foremost, about the students.

Name: Yasmine Skinner
Position: Girls' PE Teacher/Coach
Gender: Female
Age: 35

Appearance: Coach Skinner is of average height and a noticeably muscular build, at 5' 5" and 157 pounds. She is a dark-complexioned African-American woman, with a strong jaw and facial features. She dresses simply, preferring tank tops and jeans or shorts and keeping her black hair in a simple ponytail. She most often dresses in blues, but she'll throw in dashes of George Hunter green when she feels like showing some school spirit. She dresses up in a flattering pantsuit for formal events and games. She speaks with a thick Georgia drawl.

Biography/Personality: Coach Skinner relocated from Atlanta, Georgia, to Chattanooga after marrying her college sweetheart; though she was, and sometimes still is, doubtful whether moving away from her hometown and family was the correct choice, she strives to make the most of it. She had difficulty finding a job for a few years after moving, and in the interim she got involved volunteering with community projects in an attempt to grow more comfortable with her new home. She has become close friends with Ms. Garcia, the vice principal, due to this mutual interest.

Coach Skinner adopts a firm-but-fair attitude both on and off the court; she can come off as almost motherly in one-on-one interactions with her students, but she is a firm believer in tough love as well. She tries to foster a sense of community and camaraderie among her athletes, always encouraging them to support and stick up for each other and taking care not to favor anyone, even her star players.
"Art enriches the community, Steve, no less than a pulsing fire hose, or a fireman beating down a blazing door. So what if we're drawing a nude man? So what if all we ever draw is a nude man, or the same nude man over and over in all sorts of provocative positions? Context, not content! Process, not subject! Don't be so gauche, Steve, it's beneath you."
