Appearance: Coach Skinner is of average height and a noticeably muscular build, at 5' 5" and 157 pounds. She is a dark-complexioned African-American woman, with a strong jaw and facial features. Biography/Personality: Coach Skinner relocated from Atlanta, Georgia, to Chattanooga after marrying her college sweetheart; though she was, and sometimes still is, doubtful whether moving away from her hometown and family was the correct choice, she strives to make the most of it. She had difficulty finding a job for a few years after moving, and in the interim she got involved volunteering with community projects in an attempt to grow more comfortable with her new home. She has become close friends with Ms. Garcia, the vice principal, due to this mutual interest.

Coach Skinner adopts a firm-but-fair attitude both on and off the court; she can come off as almost motherly in one-on-one interactions with her students, but she is a firm believer in tough love as well. She tries to foster a sense of community and camaraderie among her athletes, always encouraging them to support and stick up for each other and taking care not to favor anyone, even her star players.
