SotF Board Mafia Game Thread!
IT'S HAPPENING
There can be a roleblocker if the roleblocker has to choose between killing and roleblocking, and can’t do both
ive never personally seen a mafia where thats a thing (any non-killing role cant do their action on the same night they perform the nightkill) but a glance at the wiki tells me that Is a thing. i will venture once more into the cold abyss of tapa
"Well, Fenris, the King of Gossip. We meet again."
fen no don't it's not worth it fen
yknow im kind of wary about how this plan involves solving the setup and not scumhunting
hello so result of my journey primarily is that ricky has never not had a roleblocker in his mafias, but they've also never had a restriction against blocking in the same night they kill, at least not stated in their role pms.
also most of ricky's games have been really wild and experimental and this one is really quiet by comparison lmao
anyway thats kind of an inconclusive result. i agree that a theoretical mafia roleblocker would have done some combo of kill/block me and jace, and it seems fairly unlikely to me based on Tapa Evidence that said theoretical mafia roleblocker would be unable to kill and block in the same night, which means its unlikely the theoretical mafia roleblocker exists, which leads us back to there probably being a godfather again
i dont know i have a headache

boogie help say something smart
"Well, Fenris, the King of Gossip. We meet again."
i mean if y'all wanna ISO i'll read 'em
i was gonna iso yugi but i forgot. i can do that
"Well, Fenris, the King of Gossip. We meet again."
no obligation to! that was mainly directed @boogie
@boogie do you have any objections to winning the game by solving the setup? i dont really feel it goes against the spirit of the game

i wanna be productive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Well, Fenris, the King of Gossip. We meet again."
i mean it's not a moral objection or anything it just kind of feels like there's a danger of falling victim to assumptions
like, are you so willing to bet that yugi isn't the godfather that you'll list
like, are you so willing to bet that yugi isn't the godfather that you'll list
as the ironclad roadmap for what happens if we lunch you? if yugi is the godfather, you've given him a clear path to victory if everyone else follows your planwe lynch me/yugi
Irina kills no one
fen gets an innocent result on me/yugi
we lynch irina as only plausible godfather
yeah i'm willing to bet that. If this weren't a largely vanilla game, i'd be more amenable to arguments that ricky didn't balance things right, since it's much easier for unforeseen interactions to take place in that case. Making sure cop can't run riot over the scum team is much easier in a game like this, though. like, ricky would have to be going out of his way to fuck with scum if he included a cop, a doctor, and a backup doctor, and no roleblocker or strongman to deal with that, you know?
see, there's also the miller and the PGO, though. the PGO obviously worked in our favor this game but MeS could've easily wound up killing Fen. there are clearly efforts made in the setup to mitigate cop, and a godfather would fit in nicely with thatZetsu wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 7:43 am yeah i'm willing to bet that. i see your point but tbh that's nowhere near enough if there's a backup doctor. with doc and backup doc, cop is practically impossible to kill without a strongman; since doctors tend not to claim unless there's a massclaim, odds of eliminating them both in order to get a shot at killing the cop in anything resembling a reasonable time frame is low. the only way cop dies with a doc and a backup doc in play is if they hit the PGO in that case. if the PGO claims then that's that out the window.
tl;dr way too easy to get an unkillable cop whose investigations will always go off in this case. even with the occasional incorrect investigation, that's ridonkulous.

see but i feel like the possibility of that happening is lower than you'd think; cops usually dont claim until mid-lategame which is plenty of time for things to go wrong if the doc isn't protecting them
like yeah i guess with that setup if the cop claimed on day 1 you'd essentially have an unkillable cop but that would never happen in actual play
