Post by DiegoBrandoDLC* »

Name: Giuliano Ricardo Giovanni
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Grade: 11
School: Cochise High School
Hobbies and Interests: Kyudo, watching retro anime, card games.

Appearance: Giuliano has copper-blond hair that falls just a bit above his shoulders. When he leaves the house he ties all strands of hair that are long enough for it into a messy, short ponytail. His eyebrows are thick and a bit darker than his hair, and this, along with his slightly tan skin, makes his Italian heritage apparent to anyone with an eye for these things. Giuliano's ears are pierced with small silver earrings, and he likes to wear rings and necklaces, because they suit his fashion style. His brown eyes are surrounded by thick eyelashes that give his otherwise long, angular face a feminine accent. His nose is long and straight, and his lips pale and a bit on the thin side. With his lanky stature, toned arms and 5'8'' in height he is quite the looker. He dresses almost exclusively in dark and earthy colors, all his clothes are casual but well-fitted and in fact quite expensive. Giuliano's defining feature is a mole under his left eye.

Biography: Giuliano's family came to America two generations ago. His grandparents opened a moderately successful family restaurant, which his parents own today. His Nanna lives with the family, his grandfather died a few years ago from a stroke. Giuliano has three sisters. The youngest, Maria, is 3 years old. The middle one, Narcissa, is 10. His twin sister Alessandra is the oldest. As such, Giuliano is the projected heir of the family business, and he doesn't have it in his heart to tell his doting parents that he has no plans to take over the restaurant one day, or any other aspirations to speak of. Like the rest of his family, he is Catholic Christian, but unlike his conservative parents he is rather liberal in following its teachings. Giuliano doesn't care much for his younger sisters, but when his parents are both busy in the restaurant he babysits them and teaches them cardgames or reads with them. Generally, he doesn't have much in common with them due to the large age difference, but they both look up to him. Narcissa is a very loud girl and too curious for her own good. Unlike Maria, who barely noticed anything going on, she very much wants to know why Alessandra doesn't live with them anymore, but her parents don't give her details, and Giuliano dodges questions. Narcissa also often annoys Giuliano about helping her with homework or playing with her, but he easily finds excuses to avoid those things.

His parents, Giuliano Senior and Alessja, met at the restaurant where his mother was a waitress in order to finance her college time. Giuliano Sr. was helping his parents with the family business since he was young, and he never went to college, instead learning from his parents so that he could take over the restaurant one day. They fell in love with each other whilst working together, and got married after Alessja got pregnant with Alessandra and Giuliano Jr. at age 22. Alessja stopped going to college and instead became a full-time waitress and mother. She was fine with this, since she never had any career aspirations anyway, and the Giovannis accepted her into the family wholeheartedly. Giuliano Jr.'s parents hope that he will also find a wife soon and expect him to take over the family business, but don't pressure him too much to work in the restaurant. They hope he will just naturally become interested in the business at some point, since they believe it is "in his blood".

Giuliano's twin sister Alessandra's only major outward differences to him are her slightly longer hair and the fact that she is, well, a female. She used to go to an expensive private school, until she became pregnant from her abusive boyfriend, she decided to get an abortion and their family stopped financially supporting her. Now she attends a local public school, lives with her boyfriend and works the evening shift at a local fast food place to support herself. Giuliano often visits her on the weekends to play card games with her, but despite his pokerface he rarely ever wins a game. He always looked up to her as she was more successful at school and had many friends, but his idolization of her received quite a damper after she was basically kicked out of the family. He is the only family member who is still in contact with Alessandra and relies on her a lot. Giuliano was the only one who supported her decision to abort the unwanted child, since he lacks the religious belief that unborn lives are sacred. The abortion was a difficult time in Alessandra's life, and Giuliano's support made them grow much closer as siblings. Giuliano spent many nights listening to his twin sister's doubts and fears, and her feelings about being rejected by her parents. The whole deal made Giuliano more reserved towards his parents, but he wouldn't dare openly criticize their opinions or decisions. Instead, he tells them less details about his own life to avoid trouble.

Giuliano is bisexual, but no one in his family aside from Alessandra knows this, since he values his connection to his strictly conservative Christian parents. As it is customary in Italian families everyone is very close with each other, and he has been taught to respect his elders, but the strict and judgmental nature of his parents have caused him to become quite good at straight-faced lying to them. He came out to Alessandra at age 14 after an incident in which a male classmate kissed him during a game of spin-the-bottle. His sister managed to convince him that he is fine just the way he is, despite their knowledge that their parents would never approve if they found out. Giuliano is afraid of entering meaningful relationships, since he wants to be able to back out in the case that his parents find out, so he keeps his relationships superficial and short-lived. When he stays over at a lovers' house he tells his parents that he is at Alessandra's place, and she gladly covers for him. Their parents quietly tolerate the two of them meeting since they understand how close they are due to being twins, but don't exactly approve of it. They hope the distance between them will increase over time. Giuliano tries not to think about his future too much. He would like to find "the one" someday, but at the same time he is afraid that the one might turn out to be a fellow man, in which case he would also be rejected by his family.

At school, Giuliano is a normal student who maintains his grades at a level where he only puts in as much effort as he needs to keep his parents off his case. He is painfully bad at math, almost to the point of dyscalculia, but studies with his more mathematically gifted twin sister to keep his grades from plummeting. He doesn't get involved with school clubs, but has a number of close friends he likes to go hang out with, most of which he met through his kyudo hobby or during school. People who aren't accustomed to Giulianos deadpan humor may find him to be a strange person since his jokes can be quite heavy and he gives no indication of sarcasm, so most of his classmates don't get involved with him much. Stereotypical for an Italian, he is flirty and inclined to make very bold sexual statements at times which may catch people off guard. His general disposition is laid-back and almost serene, but by no means careless. Many things he says are exaggerations, straight-up lies, or of questionable reliablity, but with no malicious intent:  He just assumes people can tell when he actually means what he says without him pointing it out.

Giuliano has no job ambitions for the future, but he also doesn't want to be stuck in the family business. He plans to go to community college after graduation and then see where things lead him. His parents don't bother him about his ambitions since they expect him to take over the business anyway, but he is worried that he won't be able to convince them to let him go to college. He prefers to cross bridges when he gets to them, so he pushes these issues away from him and focuses on the present instead.

His twin sister introduced him to most of his hobbies, including his love for retro anime/manga and cardgames. She has always been a vibrant, excitable person and he easily let himself get roped into hobbies he usually wouldn't have had an interest in. An old movie he watched with his family got him interested in archery, and the only available local club was for kyudo, so he went with that and found himself enjoying the quiet, concentrated atmosphere. It is also a nice change of pace compared to his household that is always full of family, friends and children.

As children, Giuliano and Alessandra would watch Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokémon together, and Alessandra kept the interest in anime. She delved deeper into the hobby and got hooked on older series, most prominently Detective Conan, Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura. She bothered Giuliano about them until he started watching them as well, and he found himself very much enjoying the stories. These days they like rewatching their favourite shows together at her apartment on the weekends, in between card games.

The entire Giovanni family has been playing card games ever since they can remember, and they learned lots of complicated games  of strategy at a young age. Cheat, bridge, and skat are their favourite games to play. Giuliano's parents only really play with their own adult friends these days, and Giuliano only plays with his sister since she moved out.

Unknown to most people, Giuliano is quite the narcissist. He builds his own self-esteem on his good looks and numerous one-night-stands, and secretly feels superior to his bigoted parents. His looks are carefully calculated to make people believe that he is effortlessly beautiful.

Advantages: Good at aiming and good arm strength and stamina due to longbow training, is exceptionally skilled at deceiving people and good at staying calm. He is attractive and good at flirting which he won't hesitate to use to his advantage.
Disadvantages: People who aren't used to his personality may become annoyed or freaked out by his jokes depending on their level of naivete. People generally find it hard to trust him. He is very dependant on Alessandra. He easily overestimates himself. He tends to leave problems unsolved until he absolutely HAS to face them.
