Franco's worries were alleviated as the Mrs. Carter-Madison informed him that she would be allowing Damien's leave. Practically leaping for joy, he tore off down through the opulent lounge towards the smaller lounge area where all of his friends were in attendance. This was the plan from the beginning, but things were getting a bit complicated and he wasn't going to mess it up now.

I have to prove myself. I have to reassert myself. Climb over every rung, jump through all the rings; I do what I have to get to the top. Damien's just another rung.

The sweat still gleamed on Franco's forehead from when Mrs. Madison stared him down. Franco would do what he had to get to the top, but there was something so very frightening about disapproval. He was always willing to accept consequences but he hated it when the pressure was on him. He didn't even look back at Damien as he and his assistant Jorge dragged him through the hallways. He wasn't the important part after all, the important part was that Renee and the others were happy, and mostly, that Franco got his due for doing what he could.

He could tell that the young man was afraid by his whimpering, which was all of little consequence, as Franco could see Marvin and Richard heading down the hallway towards him. He tugged at his collar and looked Richard in the eyes, he was pissed. Franco made his move before Richard could say a single word.

"Richard!" Franco opened his arms in a welcoming gesture. He strutted towards the older Hendrick with an apologetic gesture. "I'm so glad I caught up to you, after I slipped away after our last conversation."

Franco reached back, hardly looked to see what he has grabbing for. After a few greedy swoops the young man grabbed hold of Damien's suit collar and pulled him forward. Realizing his lack of attention to detail, he straightened out Damien's suit before he could continue.

"This is our new friend, Damien," Franco's smile begged to collapse and weep in the face of adversary. "Today we are inducting him into our little circle of friends. Heh- We have some really nice things planned for him! Tell 'em Damien."

Franco crossed his fingers behind his back and tightened his grip on Damien's suit. He looked at Damien and focused all his ire on his cheap hair-cut.

You'd better pull through for me you little worm, or you're going to be in a whole new world of agony later tonight.

Richard Hendrick would have a very hard time buying into Franco's now-failing Carpathia complex. He already noticed the threatened look on Damien's face as well as the way Franco brought him forward. Still, for some reason he believed that the only way to let them - and Marvin - stay was if he heard it from the party's unofficial center of attention. Of course, even if he let Damien stay he certainly was not going to let his drunk little brother become part of this induction, especially given Marvin's already violent behavior.

"Damien? Is it true?" he asked, sounding genuinely like he wanted to help? "Are they really your friends?"

The boy he spoke to nodded his head rapidly, in an almost dog-like manner.

And, much to Damien's shock and awe, Richard seemed to agree as well. "Okay. Franco? Be very careful with him. I'll put Marvin somewhere safe for the rest of the party." With that, Richard continued taking Marvin down the hall, to the living room. He figured Marv would definitely be safe if not restrained in the presence of him, as well as Marv's worst enemy - and one of Richard's new friends.

As for Damien, he had a glazed look on his face. Maybe it was because he couldn't be scared any further, and/or there was nothing that could be done to shock him even more tonight. A tear started to seep from one eye, if only in a natural reflex to his only hope for salvation walking away. That he took away a primary source of the physical pain didn't seem to alleviate his fears of what Franco had planned. In fact the only thing he could hope for was that Franco's plans were overhyped compared to the gala itself.

Like Anne Frank sold to the Nazis...my mom's gonna prosper over my pain again...just...get it over with...

((Marv will be there, don't worry.))

Reneé, of course, was barely hoping for the opposite. She seemed the ONLY one in the room right now, and she took the opportunity to slump in her sofa in a visibly masculine manner. Maybe it was something she picked up from her stint as a tomboy, or maybe her aggressiveness was fueled by a little too much testosterone. Whatever it was causing her tomboy-ness, she would certainly have no problem using it on her Dame tonight...

Kristey always hated these kind of parties. The same people conversing the same inane psychobullshit, only this time, it's in a somewhat glorified manner because it's organized rather than random.

The usual suspects were all here, the same bullshit, and the same smell of fear, deviancy, inferiority, and lack of class. Why she decided to come to this party in the long run was well beyond her, but then again, she did have a "why not" mentality. It's always good to learn about wild animals while you see them in their natural habitat.

She went around the party, being gawked at by the males no less. Pitiful idiots. They were either discussing how she looked, or that little stunt she pulled in the classroom, and in the hallway. She was causing a stir without even trying, and that made her glorious.

She eventually saw Renee, whom she had been looking for.
"So... where's the fun to be had here... friend?"
She had the world's most sarcastic smile on her face as soon as she made that statement.

((Nealosi's busy so we'll get the Reneé sub-arc over with for now.))

Reneé couldn't hear exactly what people were saying about Kristey Burrowell from where she sat, but she knew that the blonde was gaining reputation. When Kristey approached her, Reneé matched Kristey's sarcasm with her trademark snide smirk.

She looked around as if she were making sure they were the only ones in the room. "Between you and me? I have no idea," and she really meant that. "All I know is, you and I are going to have a lot of fun."

She then eyed Kristey up and down - not nearly as much in a sexual manner as one would when searching for any firearms or concealed blunt force trauma instruments. She had to admit though - Kristey was looking pre-tty hot tonight, especially with that cruel look on her face. Reneé sighed and looked at the nearest window.

Maybe if all goes well...I could get rid of that idiot Marvin and have Kristey under my tutelage.

Reneé then turned her gaze back to Kristey. "You know...you seem so good at torture. Maybe we both have a few things we could learn from each other."

Oh yes. We will have fun.

A wave of relief washed over Franco as he escorted Damien away from any and all protection that he could have possibly hid himself behind. No more cat and mouse, no more games, it was time to offer the lamb to the slaughter. Personally, Franco had never had anything against Damien until now. Sure, he would pick on the kid whenever he got the chance, but it was all just part of the game; part of politics, part of life.

Still, he'd caused enough trouble for him so far, and he could only quell his frustration for so long. He began to sweat under the tight collar of his pert black suit, he gripped Damien's wrist intensely and twisted as he marched of through the party towards Renee and the others. He casually murmured his 'hellos' and 'why thank yous' as he past through the polarized little conglomerates of people.

"It will be over before you know it my little friend," Franco lied through a wide grin and pearly whites. "Just do as they say and it won't be any more difficult."

He made his way to the other room and triumphantly strolled through the doorway. He dismissed the personal assistant and told him to make himself scarce. It was time for things to get a little more entertaining.

"Ladies and gentlemen may I present to you the entertainment for this evening," Franco's eyes lit up as he jerked Damien's arm, pulling him into the room. "Damien fucking Carter-Madison."

Marvin Hendrick sulked on a recliner in close proximity to Richard, who was conversing with one of Franco's parents' rich friends. He let out an angry sigh as he looked back in the direction from whence he came, the smell of wine very present in his breath. He had to find some way to get away from Richard and not miss out on the real party, lest he find himself out of Reneé's good graces...for good. Unfortunately, in his fairly inebriated state, the only thing that came to mind was:

"Rick...bro...I need to use the bathroom..." Marvin groaned. "That wine went right through me."

Richard sighed and half-glanced. "It's down the hall."

For the next few moments, Marvin sat there, stunned like he'd just failed a breathalyser test. Not so much from drunkenness though, (which was still in its "light" stages) as Richard actually letting him go. He really had to make sure that his older brother - the one who solemnly vowed to keep an eye on him - wasn't just pulling his leg.

"I might have to take a #2 though..."
"Go on, I'll still be here when you return."

With a rather stupefied look on his face, Marvin slowly (slowly like there were laser trip-mines all over the room) got up, and crept to the bathroom (like any one spot would send him down a trap door into a pungee pit), which was actually down the hall whence he came. He looked back as soon as he found the bathroom door, and Roland did not return it. Looking down and noticing he was also treading on rather noise-insulated carpeting, he opened AND closed the bathroom door while still in the hallway, before bolting back toward the room where he figured Reneé to be waiting.

Don't let the party begin without me...

((You can pose Marvin entering. >D It's almost time.))
