Kiss and Tell

Dougal, Garry and Hermione (2nd grade)

Events and happenings began influencing who our characters are long before the SOTF ACT was even a glimmer in someone's eye. Have an interesting memory of your character's to share? Want to show the world why they are the way they are? Even if you just want to establish why they like comic books, this is the place to do it!

Hermione continued to pointedly ignore the two boys. She was the most beautiful mermaid princess in the sea and she had to build a beautiful castle so that she could live with her pretty sisters and perhaps with her prince charming when he arrived.

Sitting upright in the sandbox, she began to dig around with one of the spare plastic spades, heaping sand on sand until she had a sizeable mound in front of her. She giggled and began to poke holes for "windows" all around the sand mound with the back of the spade.

Hermione frowned as the castle collapsed slightly. It was so much easier to build things on the beach, where the abundance of sea water and wet sand helped to hold structures together.

((Very little to add right now. Sorry!))

"Erm...truth or dare?" Dougal suggested.

"Yeah, that sounds fun," Garry said with a smile, leaning his back against the rungs of the monkey bar's ladder, then looked around the place. Hermione was keeping herself occupied over in the sandpit, and didn't seem to be leaving it anytime soon, nor was she at all concerned with what the two boys were up to. 'How rude, just leaving us behind like that. We'll have to get her back somehow,' Garry thought.

Before he thought of anything though, he and Dougal had a game to play. "Okay, I'll go first, Dougal. Truth or dare?" he asked.

"Okay, I'll go first, Dougal. Truth or dare?"

Dougal was hoping he could go first instead; he did suggest the game after all. But, there was no point in causing a fuss about that; he didn't really mind that much. Dougal was guessing they didn't have long before Ms. K or one of the other teachers stormed out of the school building and bellowed at the young children to return to their learning, and Dougal wanted to get in a few quick truths and dares before then. "Erm....truth." Dougal paused for a second, before suddenly changing his mind and correcting himself. "No! Wait. Dare, please."

To be honest, Dougal had no real secrets, and he found dares a lot whole lot easier anyway, because, at least in school, there was a limit on what you could be dared to do.

Waiting for Garry to give him a good dare, Dougal leant back on the monkey bars, staring at the ants crawling on the ground.

Hermione continued to play in the sand pit, now heaping sand back over the collapsing castle and patting it into place. She was adamant that she manage to at least finish building this tower one more time before it fell down. Mermaid princesses didn't live in hovels, after all.

As she worked on the side of the mound opposite to that of the monkey bars, she made one or two surreptitious glances over at the two boys, wondering if they really would tell Ms. K. The teacher was patient with her, but she also knew that sticking her tongue out at others was a very mean thing to do and worthy of punishment.

Peering at the boys over the top of her "castle" she watched them carefully, ducking her head down and pretending to be fully absorbed in her building task should they look at her.

"Hmm... a dare," Garry said, smiling as he started thinking of a good dare for Dougal to perform. His eyes drifted over the monkey bars, but he shook his head. 'Too dangerous, don't want him hurting himself,' he thought. 'I'd get in trouble for sure.'

He looked back towards Hermione and the castle she was making, and a smile crept onto his face. 'It's the perfect chance to get her back,' he thought, laughing on the inside. "Okay, Dougal," he said, looking around for any of the teachers. Certain the coast was clear, he approached the other boy to whisper to him so that their female friend in the sandpit couldn't hear him. "I dare you to kiss Hermione."

Dougal giggled nervously at Garry's suggestion. "Really?" He looked at Hermione, currently occupied building a rubbish sandcastle, and back to Garry, who had a devilish smile planted on his face. However, the more Dougal thought about it, the more he liked the idea. It would be an excellent way to get back at Hermione. It'd be a laugh. "Yes", he replied, he too now having a devilish grin slapped upon his face.

So, turning to march towards Hermione, he strode confidently towards the sandpit. Before Hermione knew what hit her, he was standing right in front of her, and he bent down, and gave her a quick, albeit clumsy, kiss on the lips.

Now to think of a dare to give Garry.

Hermione watched the boys for a while, then found that they were being boring – chatting about something that she couldn't quite hear. She decided to preoccupy herself with her imaginary mermaid castle. She heaped more sand onto the mound, then turned to find herself facing Dougal.

"Uh?" she said before Dougal gave her a kiss on the lips.

Hermione blinked a few times, taking a few moments to allow the shock of Dougal's violation of her lips to settle into her brain. As soon as it had, however, Hermione took in a deep breath and let loose a magnificent wail of such titanic proportions that sand began to avalanche off the top of the sand mound she built.

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH~!" she shrilled, stopping midway to fill her lungs with more air, "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH~!"

The timbre of her vocals cut through the voices of playing children across the playground.
