Inner Turmoil 3: The Reckoning

Day 5 to Day 6 (Morning); Oneshot

The east side of the community housing shows the wear of abandonment. The wilderness has started to reclaim the land the village was built on, meaning that many of the houses furthest from the center have become overgrown with vines and plants. The frequency of tropical storms has had a more noticeable impact on this side of the village as well. Some of the houses have been hit with debris from uprooted trees, while others have been torn asunder by a combination of debris, rain and wind. This has left a scattering of large wooden boards painted various colors across the entire area.

Inner Turmoil 3: The Reckoning

(Zachary Beck, continued from This entire area is quite dank.)

The announcements rang out across the island just after Zach had awoke. Just as with any announcement, he listened for any names he knew.

Quinn Abert claimed another victim. In Erika Stieglitz’s case, it was four victims. Those girls have been doing most of the killings. No doubt, they needed to be avoided at all costs.

One other thing that stood out to Zach, Angie Cortez killed her brother Ramsey. This game made people crazy enough to turn against their own family? Zach had no siblings, but even he thought that was fucked up.

Sure enough, Zach’s killing of Brandon was mentioned. Anyone who was friends with Brandon was now aware. This made Zach unsure if he could go out at this time. If someone wanted to avenge Brandon, they’ll be gunning for Zach if they find him.

Lastly, Marco Volker had a chainsaw. A fucking chainsaw! Definitely need to avoid him.

And just like that, the announcements came and went. Nia Karahalios, the mute girl, got the prize that morning. Zach was a bit jealous, but he at least didn’t have a reason to leave his hiding spot now.

Zach rested on the cabin’s couch. His peaceful sleep was interrupted by the rattling of the doorknob. Zach rose to see said doorknob shaking rapidly. He looked around the cabin for his weapons. Only thing was, his weapons were mysteriously gone.

The doorknob suddenly stopped rattling. The cabin was dead quiet for half a minute. Zach stared at the door, seeing if someone or something had gone away.

Just then, whoever was outside began banging loudly and violently on the door. The door looked as if it was about to come off it’s hinges. Zach jumped back as the door was assaulted.

Suddenly, the door swung open, revealing a human figure in it’s frame. Their flesh was pale, their outfit covered in blood. Their expression was that of anger. Their brow was furrowed, their glare shot through Zach like a harpoon. Upon further inspection, Zach recognized the figure. Brandon. His shirt was riddled with bullet holes.

Zach stood there, frozen in fear, as Brandon began walking towards him. The walking corpse reached out his arms, clammy hands wrapping around Zach’s neck as they tumbled to the floor.

Zach gasped as his body jolted up from slumber. His breathing was rapid. He clutched his neck. It wasn’t being squeezed. It was all a nightmare. Thank God. Night time had blanketed the island in darkness once more.

Zach rose from the couch and looked out the window. Brandon’s body was still there, unmoving.

Zach took his things with him back into the bedroom. He decided he was going to set out in the morning. He didn’t want to sleep here knowing that there was a body outside the cabin.

Zach once again was woke from slumber by the announcements. This was becoming annoying.

Madison Springer killed that kid with down syndrome, Nathan Coleman. Someone with his condition never would have survived this, as heartless as that sounds.

Quinn was once again mentioned. Zach would have been surprised if she wasn’t.

What surprised Zach was that one of the Carter brothers, Bret, was killed. Dude was a brick house. And somehow that Christian dude Claudeson managed to snuff him out. Zach managed to outlast one of the Carter siblings. It felt incredible. Guess Zach had one less obstacle to worry about.

The last surprise for Zach was Erika killing three people in row. One of them being Demetri. Zach took a minute to take in the news.

“You’re an idiot, Zach.”

Zach began to laugh softly, and then his laugh transformed into a cackle.

“Well,” Zach scoffed, “look who’s the idiot now!”

Once the announcements were over, Zach had his breakfast of a protein bar and water. He went over his mental list of people to avoid. Wyatt Carter, who was likely pissed over his brother’s death, and thus would be more dangerous. Quinn Abert, who had been consistently killing people since the first day. Erika Stieglitz, who was capable of taking out multiple people in one day. And Marco Volker, who had a mother fucking chainsaw.

Gathering his things, Zach looked over his map. He decided to head away from the village to the leadership houses. He hoped to find a more comfortable hiding spot.
