Every step dragged her farther and farther behind.

She was so close.

Everything blurred together like she was on a merry-go-round. The green of the trees, the brown of the road, the beige of the buildings past the horizon, the blue and gray of the sky. They were one and the same.

Passed by... another tree.

All these... trees looked th-... the same.
