Physical Description: Thaddäus has a skinny build, standing at 6'2" and weighing 157 pounds. He has straight, black hair that is parted to the left and is shorter on the sides. His face is diamond in shape, he has thick eyebrows, blue eyes, and a grecian nose. He has no facial hair and thin lips, he is Caucasian.
Thaddäus is usually seen going around wearing denim pants and button up in various colors, but for the expedition he wore a black parka, underneath which he had both a brown sweater as well as a white shirt. He also wore black gloves, a black winter pants and Jack Wolfskin winter boots.
Background:
- Born and raised in Offenbach, Hessen to Jan Wiegand, a editor for the FAZ, and Amelia, a local school teacher. They are an upper middle-class family.
- Since an early age he had been a fan of watching soccer with his family, bonding with his father over their love for Eintracht Frankfurt.
- Thaddäus was rather nerdy in high school, beginning to watch anime and reading manga. Due to him recognising how uncool that was, he kept this hobby rather secretive. His favorite manga is I Am a Hero.
- In high school he also began to like watching American and British stand up comedians perform on TV, later on YouTube. His favorite comedians are George Carlin, Ricky Gervais and Bill Burr due to their bluntness.
- Having finished his Abitur in Offenbach, he moved back to Frankfurt am Main and studied Economics there, receiving his Bachelor's degree and continuing to studying there for his master's degree. Due to the connections of his university to Janus-Hayes, he applied to have an exchange year in the United States.
- Between high school and university he spent a year working as an au pair in France. He had been in Paris in vacation several times before but actually living outside the big cities had been quite an experience. He also improved his French skills in that time, made friends and had some great life experiences.
- He's been an eager student in the university, working hard, achieving good grades. He also also partied hard to socialise and release the stress from learning. There have been occasions where he had used amphetamines to do an all-nighter, but he wouldn't consider himself being addicted to any substance. He got introduced to it by study friends and occasionally uses it at parties as well.
- He's fascinated by travelling the world. During the semester breaks, he and his group of friends sometimes do road trips to other European countries such as France, Denmark, Italy, the Czech Republic or Poland. They often camp out there because it often is cheaper than booking a hotel or hostel.
- During his stay in Janus-Hayes he has become a fan of the lectures of Peter Harrison. He also began reading his books and watching YouTube clips of his. At the University of Cicada he socialised with like-minded folks, which wasn't hard to find in his field of study - economics.
- Thaddäus decided to go to the expedition because he loves travelling and seeing more of the world and he plans to get inspired for his master's thesis.
Assets: Due to having been on several trips and adventures before he might have an advantage over other participants, especially because he has experience living in nature, going camping.
Limitations: Thaddäus is physically weak and not as well-connected to the other contestants due to only being at U of C for a year.
