Chevy Gallagher didn't really know what he was doing. His dinner for the day was a whole bunch of snacks, like a discount buffet or tasting menu.

He was in his own cabin, laying on the couch, trying to watch Netflix on his phone. The problem was that the internet was limited. Consistent, yes. But it isn't fast at all. He was trying to avoid the unbearable death of boredom with a bunch of strangers, though one of these strangers he realized, was his ex-girlfriend Elizabeth Rodney. In fairness, he didn't know what the other students' hobbies were. For all he could analyze, most of them could be the academic type. Why else would they be willing to hunker down on an icebreaker in the middle of the Arctic Ocean? Though, he had yet to meet with his Ethics professor, who happened to be on the same voyage as him. Professor Harrison was somewhere, but Gallagher didn't bump into the man, yet.

Chevy did have a copy of Harrison's book Patterns of Decline: Civilization and Collapse, which he left on a bookshelf somewhere back at his dorm. His roommate wasn't the type to burrow around with his junk, while he was gone. For Professor Harrison, Chevy knew that the Professor was probably trying to avoid the press. Several heavy left-wing students kept talking about his recent media appearances. Chevy didn't give a shit about politics, he wanted to do something extraordinary. This was supposed to be important to him! He was going to make himself known.

Ok, he wasn't a narcissist, but Chevy wanted to be more important than he seemed. Janus-Hayes was his best effort to get ahead. What he needed was networking. Chevy wasn't going to stay with Janus-Hayes too much. Yes, he knows that they were getting rid of COVID-19, but if his cards played right, he could get some notice from some contracts in the government. Who knows? The boys who fought for red, white, and blue might need Chevy. A military analysist who would care to support himself, his parents, his country, and others. Not unlike his Los Angeles gilded smartass brothers, who are probably in some content house, though he did admit it was something that Troy would do, while Benny was still off to sell his soul to Netflix or NBC Peacock.

He did bring a book to read. As long as his Spotify didn't lag from the spotty wi-fi, he should be fine. He brought a copy of The Art of War, but he had a copy of a behind-the-scenes novel on Star Wars, a film made by his own personal Jesus Christ who should have done the 7th to 9th movies, George Lucas.

Damn you, J.J Abrams! You Star Trek hack!

Chevy didn't do much in his own cabin. He took a shower as usual, making sure that the water was warm, then he chilled on the couch with his book, until it was time to rest up for the day.
