SOTF: Endgame Flashbacks

For those who missed sign-ups...

This board exists to allow RPing outside the typical scope of Mini, but with a Mini-centric focus. All threads here must in some way relate to a Mini, must allow for participation by others, and are explicitly non-canon. That aside, there aren't many rules here apart from the overall board rules, so have at!

SOTF: Endgame Flashbacks

SOTF: Endgame Flashbacks Thread

Hey, everyone! As you may have seen, RC has recently launched SOTF: Endgame, a game that starts right in Endgame. As a function of this, a limited number of slots was a necessity, but folks have expressed interest in participating who missed that limited window. But, with the blessing of RC and the other Endgamers, we have created this solution!

If you want to participate, you can write a character (or several characters) who perished at some point prior to Endgame. This is like playing in a regular version, except you skip straight to the fun parts—tragic deaths, emotional catharsis, key moments of development, etc. Or just goofy character-building beats. Whatever!

Insofar as there are rules, they're pretty limited. Of course, you can technically do whatever you want and call it part of this, but if you want it to fit in what passes for continuity, be referenced by the Endgamers, etc., you should follow these guidelines:
  • Please don't contradict anything established in other threads/the summary material.
  • If you're threading with an Endgamer, cool! They're responsible for making sure it plays nice with everything planned.
  • If you wanna do stuff that has nothing to do with the Endgamers, that's also fine but please check in with us as a collective if you want it to count! Otherwise, you're in your own thing, and that's quite alright too, but we'll ignore it if we feel like it.
  • Nobody (Endgamer or otherwise) is required to participate in this in any way. Ask folks if you wanna be part of a thread. This is a bit the opposite of the New BRAU in that every thread is functionally private, and if you go off half-cocked/without permission I will prune you.
  • There are no thread limits!
Here's the basic information about the game, as established by the Endgamers. Be warned if you're not looking to participate here, spoilers abound!
[+] Game Info
The SOTF: Endgame version was a ridiculously large version—bigger than V4. It saw more or less the entire graduating class of Eastwood High (located in Des Moines, Iowa) kidnapped. It is the first game of its kind in the universe. Over the span of a little over six days, all except six students perished. There were no escapes. The island includes some light industrial areas, some wilderness, and a few points of habitation.

A brief write-up, courtesy of Claire, follows:
Vato Mena wrote:Vato Mena—Red Rock in English, named for the residual jasper deposits in the stone—is an island in decay. Located in the temperate climate zone of the Southern Indian Ocean, it has remained entirely uninhabited for most of its history; what population has existed has been transient, there one moment and gone the next.

The French Navy established a logistics outpost on the island in the aftermath of the Second World War but abandoned it only five years later, in the wake of the decolonization of Africa. It was promptly seized by the government of Madagascar and used by their military; however, a lack of strategic value ensured its abandonment during efforts to re-prioritize.

In the modern age, the island lays abandoned and overgrown by flora; prickly bushes and thick vines strangle the pathways, an expanding forest encroaches on old structures, and ocean winds erode the island's installations. At the same time, Vato Mena is decidedly lifeless, with no natural fauna; the last organic traces of humanity are the corpses that now line the shores.

Dominique Lovelle wrote:Image

Name: Dominique Lovelle

Handler: Brackie

Quote: "Hi. Bye."

Description: There has not been a single moment in this game where Dominique Lovelle has let down her guard. From being set up as a potential victim of a potential prolific killer, mistaken for a player by a player hunter, betrayed by her girlfriend over the same mistake, and spending all of her time since those moments never trusting a single soul or taking out who she knew she could get away with, Domonique Lovelle has learned one thing from SOTF - the best offense is a good defense. However, even the best defense can't keep out the Endgamers with kill counts several times larger than hers, so it's time to try out another tactic.
Jason Dagon wrote:Image

Name: Jason Dagon

Handler: Dogs231

Quote: "They say it's hard taking a life; they're wrong. It's the easiest thing in the world."

Description: Jason Dagon was a player from the word go; the first student on the roster also happened to be the game's first killer, mowing down the first student he saw with no apparent provocation. He went on a days-long rampage, killing numerous students before being laid low—and nearly slain—by an ambush at the hands of several peers seeking revenge; after this, he went dormant for a day while recovering from his supposedly-fatal injuries. He returned, however, and continued his massacre, finding himself the version's most prolific killer; at this point, he can no longer remember how many lives he's ended, having lost track in the late twenties.
Marco Romano wrote:Image

Name: Marco Romano

Handler: Fiori

Quote: "Johnny? Johnny?!? JOOOOOOOOHNYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!."

Description: A young rebel without a cause, one who spent the majority of the game either waxing poetic about the duality of man, or trying (and repeatedly failing) to protect his friends. This came to a head during the midgame with the death of his best friend Johnny at the hands of Jason, spurring him into a crusade of righteous fury that has lead to him racking up a bodycount of six, mostly either in self defence or seeking out active players (with one jarring exception, but we don't talk about Janice).
Monika Summers wrote:Image

Name: Monika Summers

Handler: almostinhuman

Quote: "Jackie, sweetie, I know. But I can't stop now. Not when you're so close to getting out."

Description: One of the more cunning players of the version, Monika didn't set out to engage in the slaughter until finding her twin brother Jackie in the middle of a fight with another student, which he was losing badly. After slaying the other boy, she committed herself to the violence in order to get him home, ultimately killing thirteen of their classmates. She was a cautious hunter, never attacking unless she was certain her target couldn't retaliate, fleeing from any opponent that could fight back, and refusing to expose Jackie to danger as much as possible. However, in Final 10 her brother was slain by Tillie Fletcher, a botched attempt at revenge for one of Monika's early victims. His death utterly shattered her resolve. She's entering Endgame well-armed, uninjured and with the skills needed to win - but she no longer has the will to.
Sarah Williams wrote:Image

Name: Sarah Williams

Handler: MostlyHarmfulll

Quote: "I feel like shit, and I am glad about it. If I were feeling good in a situation like this, there would have to be something fundamentally broken within me."

Description: After witnessing the collapse of a big escape group on Day One, guitarist Sarah Williams teamed up with her identical twin sister Katie to hunt players. However, while Sarah believed in second chances and non-lethal measures, Katie advocated a more pragmatic approach of killing them without question. This resulted in a split on Day 3, and Sarah tried with much less success to keep on the self-imposed mission, but broke down when Katie's own girlfriend, Dominique Lovelle, was announced to have killed her. She spent the rest of the game just trying to stay alive, racking up seven kills in self-defense. At the evening of the sixth day, setting up in a cave with a scavenged guitar, Sarah put all of her frustrations about having failed both her sister and her own moral standards into a concert, singing her heart out until she collapsed from exhaustion. At the next morning, the announcement informed her that endgame would begin shortly.
Tillie Fletcher wrote:Image

Name: Tillie Fletcher

Handler: MW

Quote: "It's easy to say you'd die for something when you're going to die anyways. That's not dying for anything. It's just wanting your death to have meaning."

Description: Originally a tagalong to her best friends, Justin and Emma, Tillie fled when they were attacked (and ultimately killed) by Jason. While she at first considered giving up, she instead resolved to honor her friends by being a force of good, and over the next days helped several other students, while also becoming more confident. This included several rematches with Jason, though he survived each of these, and also the accidental killing of Monika's brother, Jackie (she was gunning for Monika). Entering Endgame, Tillie has the lowest kill count, with only two victims to her name—Jackie, and a girl named Maggie who tried to kill Tillie first.

Also, just gonna go ahead and say I'm down to clown with most anything with Tillie and stuff, and/or to play other roles to support whatever.
