Gender: Female
Age: 17
Grade: Senior
Hobbies and Interests: Coding, Biology, Puzzle Solving, Video Games
Gift: Selective Omniscience
Power Details: Lucine is able to fully understand the physical capabilities of any inanimate object she is touching. This means that she will understand the intricate details of how an object works, as well as its most common uses, akin to someone who is an expert at operating the object. She will also know how to repair the object and how to best utilize it in its most common use.
Limitations and Drawbacks: Lucine needs to actually touch the object to gain said knowledge. Additionally, while this allows Lucine to have knowledge of how the object works and how to operate it, it does not actually give her the skills to do so. She cannot obtain information that is encoded in an object that she touches, only its inner workings and common uses. Selective Omniscience only provides Lucine knowledge for conventional uses of an object, and does not provide knowledge about any unconventional or non-standard uses. Finally, Selective Omniscience doesn't work on living creatures.
Appearance: Lucine stands at a height of 5'3", and weighs 122 pounds. She has long wavy auburn hair tied up in a ponytail, dark brown eyes, a long nose, and light-brown skin. Lucine is currently on the skinnier side, and although she is not athletically built, she does her best to keep in shape enough by performing healthy activities. Her outfit choices are usually discreet, owing to the fact that she's often asked to help out with working something, so she opts for hoodies and muted, darker colors. She also wears a cap as well to hide her face if she's feeling particularly unwilling to interact with people. During the trip, Lucine was wearing a dark blue hoodie and some sunglasses, with a snowcap hat on as she was feeling a little more playful than usual. She wore a gray t-shirt underneath and some black baggy pants, and also carried an analog watch strapped to her left arm.
Background:
- Lucine was born on October 22nd, 2003 to parents Colleen and Albert Everett. Her mother works as a local doctor, while her father is a clock repairman. She lives with her younger sister Emily, who is a Sophomore.
- At a young age, Lucine was very enthusiastic about her Gift, using it to learn everything she could about the world around her. She figured out the foundations of her house, how cars worked, how the stove worked, and enjoyed spouting off that trivia at her parents. For the most part, they encouraged her, much to the annoyance of Emily.
- At around the same time, her father taught her everything he could about watchmaking, and although Lucine understood the intricacies of the watches he maintained, she loved hearing her father's own lectures and knowledge. It was around this time that she learnt that despite knowing about watches, she lacked the motor skills needed to carefully assemble an old watch together.
- As she grew older, around nine years of age, Lucine began to attract attention from various friends and neighbors asking her to figure out what was wrong with their car, or their new TV that broke, even things that her powers couldn't possibly have been able to find out, like why their pet cat was sick, or why their computer got caught with a virus. The undue attention made Lucine wary of showing off her Gift to others, and while this didn't stunt her completely from socializing, it did make her averse to requests and a little more cynical.
- That being said, Lucine did enjoy helping people and will genuinely agree if there was actually a serious problem that her powers can assist in. As she matured into high school age, she's focused herself on taking mechanical engineering lessons, to better understand the skills needed to utilize her power successfully, hoping to be able to make a career as an all-purpose engineer someday.
- Lucine spends a lot of time with her sister Emily. They get into fights sometimes and Emily gets jealous of her sister's innate ability to learn, but for the most part, Emily admires her older sister, and Lucine in turn admires her as well. Lucine believes that Emily has a better shot of a future than her, as Emily does not possess Lucine's Gifts and has to understand things the way other people generally do.
- Her favorite things to do are learning things she cannot simply understand with her powers. She enjoys coding as a hobby. She thinks creating programs, apps, and games is a challenge that she actually needs to study up on. She loves Biology, as her powers don't work on living beings, so she feels a sense of accomplishment when understanding Biology of all kinds. She has taken plenty of first aid classes to supplement this interest in medicine and Biology.
- Currently, Lucine is at a crossroads. She would love to be able to use her powers to land her a stable job as an engineer, but at the same time, she is slowly thinking that her passion may be going to medical school and studying up on how to become a doctor, even if her powers will be less useful there. She has yet to decide on what to do, nor has she figured out which colleges she should apply for.
Other Skills: First Aid, Basic Mechanical Engineering
