Kennedy Jackson

Name: Kennedy Jackson
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Grade: 12
Hobbies and Interests: Writing, drawing, reading, video games, reality television, piano

Gift: Imprinting Press
Power Details: Kennedy can imprint ink in any shape, appearing through the pores on the tips of her fingers, by pressing them onto any solid surface.
Limitations and Drawbacks: To be able to use her Gift, Kennedy must maintain an internal supply of ink, done so via ingestion of any kind of printing ink - printer ink, pen ink, adhesive ink, and so forth. When Kennedy swallows any ink in any form, rather than passing through her digestive system, it is instead absorbed safely into her body when it reaches her stomach, in much the same way proteins and fats are. This ink is held in her body indefinitely and can be called upon instantly when needed. If Kennedy has no ink held, she cannot use her Gift. Also, the amount Kennedy can imprint is limited by the size of the tips of her fingers - ink can only be printed by the area of her fingers that ranges from the topmost crease of her finger to the millimeter of area before the tip lengthways, and the area of her fingers that does not include her fingernails in width. Furthermore, while it is possible for Kennedy to print ink through her fingers in a drawing motion without any further thought, she needs to maintain intense concentration in order to print small singular shapes, such as letters or symbols, with her power, although some of the necessity of this concentration can be alleviated by speaking what she wants to write out loud. Lastly, if she uses her power on a surface that cannot hold ink in much the same way that writing on it with a pen or marker would, the ink will remain liquid and malleable after use and not print onto the surface.

Appearance: Kennedy stands at 5’6”, 161lbs, slightly overweight for her height. She has a somewhat triangular build, with her weight more being distributed in her lower body as well as her face. She keeps her auburn hair long and wavy, and while she does try different hairstyles, she tends to wear her hair naturally down past her shoulders in everyday dress. Kennedy is caucasian, and her skin is slightly lighter than average due to her hobbies that don’t see her out in the sun that often. She has an oval-shaped face with a rounded chin, average-sized downward-turned lips, and only slightly prominent cheeks, sitting beneath a pair of hooded hazel eyes, soft angled eyebrows and a medium-sized rounded nose.

Kennedy doesn’t like to stand out, and this is reflected in how she dresses - she prefers simple, muted colours with rarely any logos, and usually opts for comfort over style, going for pants or shorts over skirts or dresses and usually always wearing some sort of hoodie, weather permitting. On the day of the abduction, Kennedy was wearing a dark grey zip-up hoodie over a light grey t-shirt, a pair of dark navy boyfriend jeans, and a pair of black high-top sneakers with new white laces, as well as a light brown beanie.

Background:
  • Kennedy was born in Bend, Oregon, as the only child to Kenneth and Wendy Jackson. Kenneth is a jury consultant, while Wendy is a former army staff sergeant who became a wedding photographer, giving the Jackson family a comfortably middle-class life.
  • Kennedy’s power manifested when she was young, but due to the strange circumstances regarding her power’s usage, she entered kindergarten not knowing what her Gift was - her parents eventually saw a private specialist when she was six years old, and were able to figure out her power and how it worked.
  • Kennedy was always a shy student, and while she did well in class, she took a long time to warm up to other students in her class, to the point of missing out on making friends at a young age. She was also bullied for being quiet, and while the bullying eventually passed due to eventually not provoking any worthy reaction from her, she inadvertently let it dictate the rest of her social upbringing, meaning that whenever she did become friendly with anyone, she was reluctant to let them close to her, and eventually what little existed of their friendship would fade away.
  • Kennedy picked up the hobby of writing and drawing when she began to practice the capabilities of her Gift. While being able to essentially paint with her fingertips intrigued her, the ability to create the words that she would think or say immediately fascinated her, and she worked tirelessly over the years to try and improve herself, with or without use of her power.
  • Middle school and high school were no different than elementary school for Kennedy - while she was a great student who always worked diligently, she never made any friends, with the closest relationships she had at school being merely acquaintances. People knew who Kennedy was, since she was generally nice to people who were nice to her first, but she never learned how to let anyone in close to her.
  • While Kennedy initially never had much of an interest in learning a musical instrument, she became fascinated with the piano during high school after hearing Moonlight Sonata being played on piano for the first time. She asked her parents for lessons, and she eventually received them once a week. She is a competent pianist, but prefers learning songs she's heard in video games or on TV rather than she is taught in her lessons.
  • Kennedy’s reputation around school leans as positive as it can for someone with no friends - people tend to not think of her either majorly positively or negatively, but she tries to be nice to people she meets if only because she still lets the bullying she endured in elementary school affect her and doesn’t want to do anything of a similar nature to others. However, she has gone eighteen years of her life without making any major, notable friendships, something people tend to know about her.
  • Academically, Kennedy is in the top quarter of her class at the very least - her favourite subjects are Literature and Art, which she excels at, while she is adequate at Law, Statistics and Religious Studies, subjects she doesn’t necessarily enjoy as of her senior year, but she took because she thought she was knowledgeable enough in them to maintain her GPA.
  • Kennedy is incredibly skilled with her Gift, able to write quickly with her fingers and draw incredibly intricately. A side effect of her practice with her power is that she has become incredibly accustomed to the taste of most kinds of ink - her parents often include an ink refill canister of some variety in her lunch for school, in a similar way that other parents might include an extra juice box.
  • Kennedy does not know what she wants to do when she leaves high school - while she likes writing and drawing, she is unsure as to whether or not she can make a career out of them. While she intends to send applications for any major she can find relevant to her main interests, she is also planning on sending in applications for programs with majors that involve statistics. She is also unsure as to whether or not she wants to move away from home to study, as her parents are essentially the only people she’s really close to in her life.
Personality: Kennedy is a generally kind, if incredibly lonely person. While she tends to be nice to anyone she interacts with, she is always just a little bit sad about the fact she doesn’t have any close friends to speak of outside of people on the internet, even if she doesn’t tell anyone. She tends to be hyper focused on her own perceived flaws due to not wanting to drive away the few people she considers close to friends.

Other Skills: Gift Adeptness

Heya Brackie! Kennedy's looking really nice, for the most part. The main issue is that you went a bit more in-depth than we would like with the background. Generally, we want backgrounds in SOTF: Supers to give the gist of the character's life, without going so in-depth that it becomes a slog for people to read.
Power Details: Kennedy can imprint ink in any shape with her fingers onto any solid surface.
I would clarify two things: that she has to touch the surface with her fingers to imprint the ink (which I believe is what you're implying), and how exactly she does so. Does the ink come out of her skin (like, through her pores), or does it just teleport out of her body and onto the page where her fingers are?

All the listed limitations/drawbacks work and answer all the other questions I had.
Kennedy picked up the hobby of writing and drawing when she began to practice the capabilities of her Gift. While being able to essentially paint with her fingertips intrigued her, the ability to create the words that she would think or say immediately fascinated her, and she worked tirelessly over the years to try and improve herself, with or without use of her power. She also began viewing other people’s drawn art and writing in an attempt to figure out the specifics of what she liked making - she likes drawing in vibrant shades, and enjoys writing things that are positive, but evocative.
This bullet point is a bit longer than we'd like. The fact that you included this detail related to her power is neat, but the last sentence (from "She also began viewing" on) is a detail that would be better served to be mentioned in-character rather than here in the profile. Go ahead and cut it (but keep it somewhere yourself, if you would like).
Kennedy also began playing video games at an early age, mostly due to there being a communal Playstation 2 in the waiting room of the private specialist she saw regarding her Gift, and spent a lot of time she would otherwise spend with friends playing video games by herself. She obtained her own Playstation 2 as a present from her parents, and progressed along the line of Playstation consoles until her ownership of a Playstation 5 halfway through her junior year. Her favourite video games from her childhood were bright and colourful games, namely Kingdom Hearts 2 and the Sly Cooper series, with the third as her all-time favourite; as she grew older, her taste matured somewhat, with her current favourite games being Persona 5, Hades, and Disco Elysium.
This bullet point, meanwhile, isn't really necessary. Liking video games is a very conventional interest (like all media consumption), and nearly everything here are details that would (again) be better mentioned in-character. I'd suggest cutting this bullet point entirely.
Kennedy has a close relationship with her parents, even watching The Amazing Race with them every week it’s on. She loves the world travel aspect and the crazy characters who were cast on the show, but felt as though she had nobody to talk with about the show in real life. To this end, she eventually found herself online, going through online forums of people with the same interest, and eventually joined a handful of communities over messenger board and Discord to discuss the show with. Though many of the people were much older than her, she eventually became closer to these people than she did anyone in her grade at school. They even began introducing her to other similar reality shows, such as Survivor and The Mole.
Same thing here as with video games above -- nothing wrong with loving reality television, but it's not anything extraordinary or revealing about Kennedy as a person. Let her gush about it in-character to one of her few distant friends, online or off, it'd be more fun (and revealing) that way.
While Kennedy initially never had much of an interest in learning a musical instrument, she became fascinated with the piano during high school while playing a copy of Resident Evil on the Playstation 4 when she encountered a character playing the Moonlight Sonata on piano, which she’d never heard before. She asked her parents for lessons, and she eventually received them once a week. While she became bored with learning the basics, having more of a desire to learn songs from video games and TV shows she liked, she stuck with it through her high school years until she became reasonably competent for someone who had only been playing for nearly three years.
Knowing how to play an instrument is a hobby deserving of mention (since it's a skill, and we need to make sure you understand your character's skills), but this could still be pared down a bit. To that end, I would cut "while playing a copy of Resident Evil on the Playstation 4 when she encountered a character playing the Moonlight Sonata on piano, which she’d never heard before" and replace it with "after hearing the Moonlight Sonata played on piano for the first time" (since the exact details aren't needed).
Kennedy does not know what she wants to do when she leaves high school - while she likes writing and drawing, she is unsure as to whether or not she can make a career out of them. While she will send in college and university applications to any major she can find relevant enough to her main interests, she is also planning on sending in applications for undergraduate programs with majors that involve statistics, as it was her third favourite subject in school. She is also unsure as to whether or not she wants to move away from home to study - her parents are essentially the only people she’s really close to in her life, and she doesn’t know if she can move away and study without them in her life.
Lastly, while I like a lot of the detail here, this could similarly be simplified. I would write this as:
"Kennedy does not know what she wants to do when she leaves high school - while she likes writing and drawing, she is unsure as to whether or not she can make a career out of them. While she intends to send applications for any major she can find relevant to her main interests, she is also planning on sending in applications for programs with majors that involve statistics. She is also unsure as to whether or not she wants to move away from home to study, as her parents are essentially the only people she’s really close to in her life."

Personality and Other Skills both look good, beyond that.

Lemme know when you've got those edits made and I'll give Kennedy another look! :3
