The Arrow in Your Heart

OPEN - Night 2, 10 pm

A large, garish orange speedboat designed to carry tourists around quickly, this is boat serves as one of the most obvious landmarks amidst the inner sprawl, in part due to its coloration and in part due to its larger size. The boat is mostly covered, though there is some seating outside for those unafraid of the spray. The words "RocketBoat" are emblazoned on the side in a flaming script.

Deep breath. Breathe, breathe. Breathe, breathe.

Tightly open and close your eyes again.

“Okay.”

Mary’s lips contorted into a smile for the moment after Jewel spoke again. Her stomach lurched. She focused on her breathing. She was glad. She was scared. She was empty. She was hopeful.

“Okay…” she repeated.

She knelt down to look through her bag, for something to wipe. She thought about Leo, and how she wanted to go back and find him. She missed him. She felt dripping land on the fabric. Her hand reached up to her face. A new twisting of her stomach.

Was that what Leah really meant by ‘wipe the blood?’
