Private.

The Casa del Diablo is a one-story brick pub located a short walk away from the dwellings. It once functioned as the social center of its area, a place for fishermen to drink, unwind and relax when the day was done. Other than the art on the walls depicting aspects of Mexican folklore and the lanterns and flags hanging from the ceiling, the pub looks like a fairly normal establishment. There's a bar with a shelf of empty bottles behind it, chairs and tables sprinkled throughout the room, and a number of rubbish bins. In addition to this, an acoustic grand piano is located in one of the corners of the room, which, although slightly off-tune, still produces music when played. Behind the bar itself is a door leading to the storeroom, which is full of of empty crates and barrels with more bottles strewn around on the floor, and features a back exit into an alleyway.

The building was deserted. That was good. She had entered the pub with apprehension, but relaxed when she realized that there was no one inside.

Except for the body in the storeroom, of course. She recognized it. When it was still alive, anyway.

Cassandra decided that it would be best to just stay away from the storeroom. Better for her mental, as well, probably.

Which was a bit of a laugh. Her mental was already shot, especially this late into the game, but she didn't need, or want, to be reminded of that, thank you very much.

So she settled for resting behind the bar. She tucked herself into that space, and waited.

In silence. It's not like there was anything else to do anyway.

She'd have to remind herself constantly to not move from here. If she could avoid getting attacked in the last days, she'd be...

Well, she'd be alive. She'd figure it out then.

So... no moving, no matter how bored or anxious she got. She'd stay here, let the others hurt each other, instead of her. That was the plan.

And if someone came in and stumbled upon her? Well...

New plan. She just had to be quicker than them.

Right?

Well... that was fast.

'That' being the time it took before someone entered the building, of course. The opening of the door itself wasn't fast.

Whatever. That didn't matter. She held her breath for a few seconds. She couldn't let the other person know she was here. At the same time, she didn't want them to find her first. She learned that, back at the house with the other girl. She had to stop thinking, even for a second, that whoever was here was innocent. She had to assume they were out to kill her.

Her, specifically?

That didn't matter either.

Cassandra jumped up, maneuvering around the bar with a yell and swinging the glass shard in a wide arc.

It was only then that she noticed who it was.

She'd been right all along. It was the boy who'd attacked her, back at the very beginning. Come to finish the job? Had he been tracking her down or something?

None of that mattered.

He'd started it. She'd finish it.

Just as Sebbo was certain no one was hiding in there he felt a sharp, sharp pain in the neck.

There was a visceral feeling of triumph as the shard of glass buried itself in the boy's neck. Cassandra pulled it out, and the boy slumped to the floor, blood pooling around the hole where his neck was.

The rush was gone. Her heart was still beating out of her chest, but he'd dropped. It looked like he wasn't getting back up. Cassandra breathed out, letting the tension leave her body. She'd done it.

She couldn't believe it. That was easy.

Her eyes stared down at his. Lifeless.

Her breath caught. Her heart began to beat faster.

She couldn't believe it. That was too easy. She continued to stare down at the boy but he didn't move. Cassandra took a step back. Then two. He was going to get up again and charge her. Like he'd done at the beginning. There was no way he was dead already. That would be too convenient. The shard went up.

Get up.

Get up and fight me.

You're not dead. You can't be dead. It was too easy! Get up!

Get up get up get up get up get up GET UP GET UP GET UP GET UP

"GET UP!" she screamed, moving forward, and kicking the boy on the ground.

"GET UP! GET UP!" she continued. Her foot repeated its action, impacting the body, pinning it against the door.

"GET UP!" Kick. "GET UP!" Kick. "GET UP!" Kick.

Kick. Kick. Kick.

Kick.

Kick.

Kick kick kick kick kick kick
kick kick kick kick kick kick
kick kick kick kick kick kick
kick kick kick kick kick kick

The body on the ground was barely identifiable. Her kicks had landed everywhere... breaking bones, crushing organs, pulping flesh. She could feel the body give with each kick. The body on the ground... she couldn't recognize it.

...

Who was it again?

...

Her foot hurt.

Cassandra didn't want to stay here anymore.
