Great Minds Think Alike

Phase 1 (0-12 Hours)

The housing to the northern side of the area is solidly middle-class for the region, which isn't saying too much but is a marked step up from the Western Dwellings. Buildings here are spread out a little more, with small gardens either open to passers-by or enclosed by fences or low walls. These dwellings were often family homes, and are evenly split between one and two storeys. Much of the decoration here retains a nautical flavor, with shells and sea motifs prevalent. These houses are also mostly stucco and wood, but they are generally painted in pastel colors. The area here is much more open than to the west, though that brings with it its own opportunities for mischief; there are a number of bushes, as well as occasional sheds or small outbuildings where students could take shelter or avoid prying eyes. In the Prologue this area has no thread limit, so long as threads do not contradict each other.

Truslow Irons - START

A person was on the roof of a two-store building, kneeling, with the bag next to them and a gun in hand. Truslow has just arrived.

His forehead was sweaty underneath his long, light bangs. Climbing up there was frightening, but now it was done. He was almost proud of himself having climbed up. The view on that building was great and gave him a good opportunity to thin out the competition without having to engage in fights. When he woke up he did not expect to be on a roof, aiming at people. But now he was.

The street was filled with either one-story or two-story buildings, so after he woke up he cautiously walked into a two-story building and tried to aim for people in the second floor by pointing his gun through the window of a room. Though with that came two problems.

The first one, a minor one, was that he felt scared of someone coming behind him without him noticing. The second, major one, was that his impatience grew after around what felt like two hours to him. It was the same view of the street. It was a limited view. And no one came.

And now he was on the house. Truslow wouldn't have expected to walk on roofs any time in his life, but here he was. Climbing up wasn't easy. At first he was overwhelmed by the challenge of bringing his weapon, his bag and himself on top of the house through the window. But Truslow never gave up. He found a safe spot in the house. He found a window that would allowed him to climb up. Truslow found.

Once on the roof, he cautiously balanced himself around the roof to see if he could see moving targets. On the other side of the house, he looked into the distance.

The reason Truslow was kneeling was that he indeed spotted people. Truslow found.

It was a duo. He could not recognise who it was, which made it easier for him to decide to aim for them.

He tried to aim at the head of the blonde overdressed boy. A quick, painless death for his classmate. Yet, he wasn't prepared to shoot. Truslow had no clue how aiming a gun works. Well, of course he did not. It was illegal. Though he heard rumors from his friends that some kids had done it. But Truslow assumed that these were just lies from people who bragged about how talented they are. The gun instructions weren't helpful either. Nowhere in the manual was a guide on how to shoot people. So he just had to try.

It was time. No more hesitation.

He pulled the trigger.

The roof was not the most stable ground and Truslow's heart dropped as he felt the ricochet.

((Bullets continued in Feel The Earth Move))

He tried his hardest to keep kneeling and keep his balance. After the shock he rebalanced himself and opened his eyes to look at the figures.

It did not hit anyone. Planting his butt on the ground to have a more stable grounding Truslow re-aimed and shot again.

With eager eyes, Truslow attempted to hit them. After seeing their reaction Truslow rushed more shots in before they had the chance to flee. He got used to the gun, or rather, the recoil. Truslow shot one of them. Success. As he reaimed after swiping away the sweat from his forehead, though, he could not see them anymore.

They were gone.

His hands were shaking. He pointed the gun at where he used to see them. But no one came. Still after a couple of moments: Nothing.

Truslow felt hungry.

He quickly laid the gun to his side and unpacked his bag to pick up rations. Chicken.

He bit into it and chewed on it. It was better to eat it now than later when it went bad. It was delicious and filled him with energy. The fat of the chicken spread on his fingers and his blonde goatie. But his eager eyes still looked at the house to see if people would come out again.

((Scott Pierce continues from Last Scott Standing))

Maybe ditching Cole and James was a bad idea after all...

Scott couldn't help but to regret his decision of parting ways with them. The burying used up a lot of his energy, making him feeling exhausted every step he took. Yes, maybe that would prevent him from witnessing more deaths since he's now alone, but something just felt out of place... As he looked around the abandoned town, searching for someone, he stared at the clear, blue sky. How are the others doing now?

He carried one of the straps of his backpack on his right shoulder, and continued to stroll across the dwelling, looking for the source of the sound he heard just now. Come to think of it, that bang kind of sounded like it came out from a gun...

Somebody is definitely nearby.

And it's not only just one person.

Scott stopped near a building. His legs were killing him, after all this walking. He glanced upon the building, noticing that it was a one-storey house. The walls were painted in pastel green, with the roof being white in colour.

This might be a decent place to have a break.

Scott reached his hand onto the doorknob, attempting to open it and enter the house. Surprisingly for him, the door was unlocked. He entered the house, and was astonished to see the neatly placed furniture across the room. The living room was rather small, but everything in the room was perfectly placed. Everything there were covered in dust, showing that the place had been abandoned for a while now and there was nobody there to clean it. Without looking further, Scott closed the door, and threw his heavy bag onto the sofa.

This shit is heavier than I thought.

Still stressed out from being involved in the Program, he looked out of the window. The view was rather nice though, but still lacked something… Life.

He would really hope someone would passed by right now…

Just as he was glancing across the street, something caught his attention. It was a sniper rifle, above a roof across the building he was in. What’s worse, someone’s definitely holding it, aiming for his next target. Terrified, he quickly hid himself behind the wall, getting away from the sniper’s sight.

Should’ve be careful what I wished for. He thought.

They were gone. As was the chicken. Truslow licked his fingers to suck off the remaining taste of it.

But as he continued to look, he could see something moving.

It was from the window.

Something moved away. But he was not sure what. He requipped the rifle to point it at the window, in hopes of them daring to come out again. His forehead was getting sweatier.

Scott glanced across the living room, hoping that the sniper did not notice his presence. He knew he couldn't just stand there the whole day, hiding behind a wall from some dude who just wanted to end his life.

If only there's a way to escape...

He then remembered the pistol he was given when the Program started, which he put it in his backpack. Lucky enough for him, the bag, which was on the sofa, was pretty near to him. If he was quick enough, he could grab the bag and took out the pistol. But then his cover would be blown...

Ahh, screw that.

Hurriedly, he stretched his body towards the sofa, his hands reaching towards the bag. Deep down, he hoped that the sniper did not see him.

After spectating, it was confirmed. There was a person in the building. Some boy with a cap.

Truslow pulled the trigger twice.

Got it.

Just when Scott was about to rush back to his hiding spot, a bullet went passed him, missing his torso by merely inches. The second shot followed, this time nearly hitting his left foot. This was when he knew, he was spotted.

Quickly, he went back to the wall he was hiding, and took out his pistol.

Truslow wasn't sure if he hit or not. He didn't see anything due to the recoil making him instinctively close his eyes.

Maybe. Maybe not. He continued to observe the one-storey.

A few minutes had past, but still, no shot.

Was he reloading? Or was he just waiting his prey to appear?

Scott leaned against the wall, both his hands gripped firmly on his pistol, waiting for the perfect time to strike. He took a deep breath. The broken window facing the sniper was just beside him. If he was lucky enough, he could shoot from there, and it would still land a hit...

Okay, just relax...

and 3...2...

...1!

Scott quickly turned towards the window, firing three shots towards where the sniper is. He stepped back, nearly falling due to recoil.

Perhaps Truslow had hit him. Perhaps he already was dead. But Truslow heard no noise from the building. No scream. No agony.

With every minute passing Truslow wanted to go away and choose a different position of the roof to observe other people. But it was better for him to get the boy now than later.

Then something happened Truslow had not calculated. He heard gunshots in the distance and saw the capped boy with a gun pointed at him. The shock of Trus led to him frozen in his position not pullling the trigger despite him having to. On his left ear he felt and heard a deafening bullet missing him. A second later he felt a sharp pain in his throat. At first Trus attempted to ignore the pain and aim the rifle at the boy to pull the trigger, but not even a millisecond of that attempt succeeded as he instinctively dropped his gun to grip his throat with both of his hands feeling the blood spill out.

The intense pain caused the blue eyes to be filled with burning tears and Truslow simply laid on the roof with his hand around his throat, coughing out red liquid.

He had been shot.

Truslow could not deal with the pain. Could not deal with the fact that he had been shot. Could not breathe. It felt like he drowned.

There was nobody around him. All he could see was the sky and the roof and the buildings he could view from the roof, though the vision was blurried from his burning eyes.

Truslow could not stand the pain any longer. He felt dizzy and wanted to throw up, coughing repeatedly in hopes of clearing his mouth from blood, though it only lead to his pain intensifying. Attempting to use his feet to stand up, he failed. He did not have the ability to walk properly.

Yet with his hands he pushed against the roof ground in hopes of lunging off it. Truslow Irons rolled off the roof with the help of gravity, finally dropping. He landed next to his sniper rifle, watching it while cringing in pain. Truslow, who landed on his back was still not dead. But soon he would pass out.

All out of sudden, the intense gunfight turned into silence. Scott quickly got up, and hid beside the window again. He could felt his heart beating fast.

Did it hit?

Is he dead?

THUD

The loud sound got Scott's attention. As he peeped out from the window, he saw a body, laying lifelessly in the midst of a pool of blood. The body was just below where the sniper was just now.

Near the body was a sniper rifle. Scott presumed that the sniper rifle belongs to the dead body.

OMG...IT HIT!!!

YAS! HECK YAS!!!

Wait...

Oh shit...

No...NonononononoNO! NO!

Scott's happiness turned into fear, knowing that he had done something he wouldn't wish to do the entire time: Killing someone. He took his bag, rushed out of the house, looking at the dead sniper. He didn't dare to look at the corpse's face out of guilt, knowing that he had caused his death. He looted the poor sniper's bag and found some supplies and a few bullets in it, presumably for the sniper rifle.

This might come in handy.

He took the rifle, which still has some blood stain from it's previous owner, and left hastily.

He could not stay there any longer.

He could not let anyone see this.

He did not care if he still didn't have enough rest.

He needed to leave.

A young suited man with light blonde hair sat on a chair awaiting the response. The door of the room was opened.

"Mr. Irons?"

"Yes, sir?"

"You've been accepted."

Truslow's eyes began to glow eagerly and he had a big grin on his lips.
