Mitsuru had realized his mistake the second he mentioned Akamatsu. He didn’t even finish saying that they’d settled it by the time Ryuhei was out running for vengeance.

“No, wait-“

He glanced down the path, glanced back at- Boss was gone- glanced at Sho. Even through the tinted visor, Sho could see the wide eyed look of ‘I just fucked up’ on Mitsuru. They weren’t supposed to be playing this game; they were supposed to be beating it, Boss was gonna help him, and now he’s gone-

Ryuhei and Hiroshi are gonna do something stupid, they’re either gonna get Akamatsu or one of themselves killed.

“Sho, Debu was just scared out of his mind, we fought, we settled it. There was nothing more to do, it was a damn mistake.”

“We gotta stop them before they fuck up and do something we’ll all regret!”

Mitsuru turned and chased after the pother Kiriyama family members.

Leave it to Ryuhei to jump to the worst conclusion possible.

Akamatsu wasn't a threat to the Kiriyama family, certainly not with Kazuo himself manning the shotgun they'd wisely taken out of Hiroshi's hands. Sho could imagine it easily. Akamatsu, big and blubbery, clutching a big black Grim Reaper scythe for dear life, tiptoeing around, checking behind his shoulder after every step. Enter Mitsuru, the big bully. It was all but inevitable. A lesser man than Mitsuru Numai would have torn "Debu" apart.

From Ryuhei's reaction, Sho feared he could well be that man.

Nothing more was said, save a grunt of assent and a nod. Sho Tsukioka ran like hell.
