Junkyard Nights

Phase 2 (13-24 Hours)

The salvage yard is located in the industrial park next to the boat shed and is filled with the detritus of maritime life. While a handful of small ruined rowboats are kept here, it is also home to partially-submerged shipping containers, old refrigerators and bed frames, and even a number of totaled cars and trucks, forming a treacherous mountain of junk. Kept around partially for lack of a better place to dispose of such objects and partially as an opportunity to scavenge materials for slapdash repairs, the salvage yard is more accessible than its phenomenally dangerous architecture might lead one to expect. Thanks in part to its varied topography and in part its distance from the rest of town, the salvage yard was a popular spot for children and teens alike. The children using it to play games such as hide and seek while the teens used it as a party spot. This has led to some accidents over the years and at least one death when a drunk teen fell into the ocean, but the only result of this incident was the addition of a chain link fence; the gate to this was quickly sabotaged and has remained unlocked since.

Kassandra swung herself around in response to Marion's shout, but wasn't quick enough to get a hand on her bag before it hit her in the shoulder. She held in a grunt of pain and caught the strap of the bag with her fingers. All that weight abruptly applying itself to her fingers hurt, but leaving supplies behind was not a risk she was willing to take. She rolled the strap into her palm, and after giving a nod to Bishop, ran off to catch up with Marion.

It didn't take her long to reach her handcuffed ally. Even when sleep-deprived, she still had her footspeed, and adrenaline was putting in work to keep her energized. She pulled the strap of Marion's bag up onto her shoulder and looked back, seeing Bishop still at the van. She moved closer to Marion and turned her head to speak on the run.

"Come on. We'll wait up for Bishop once we're out of the yard."

She stayed within an arm's length and continued her charge until they made their escape through the large gap in the fence. They were out of danger, but were now left to search for another place to lay their weary heads.

Marion saw Kassandra catch up to her and was relieved to see she had caught her bag.

"Sounds like a plan," Marion said. "He's got a gun, so I'm confident he'll make it out alive."

She followed Kass through the fence, all the while hoping in the back of her mind that they didn't get separated from Bishop like they had with Mina.

They were gone. Whoever the hell had just been there had slipped out within an instant. Or at least, that's what Bishop thought. In truth he had no idea if their mystery man (or woman) was still there or not. It was actually a little terrifying, losing sight of the immediate threat that easily. Were they going to go cut the group off at the exit, or did they see the gun and decide it was best to just ditch? While he certainly hoped for the latter, Bishop couldn't quite be sure which route this person went.

This wasn't good. No matter what Bishop did, he'd effectively be going in blind. If he pursued he could be running head first into a trap, but he also had no idea if this mystery person was going to try and cut the girls off at the exit. No matter what he did there was a massive risk attached to it, something Bishop wasn't exactly a fan of.

He didn't know if it was pure fear of the desire to catch back up to the girls that caused Bishop to turn tail and rush towards where Kass and Marion had gone. Maybe it was a little of both, who knows, but every second he waited only increased the chance he's get split up from his allies, and giving chase to somebody who Bishop didn't even have sight on was all but suicidal. If they were going to cut them off than so be it, this was still the less risky option.

Eventually he would reach the fence, where both the girls were waiting for him. As soon as he arrived, the group set off again. Not wasting another second in this pile of junk.
