Life in the Universe

Phase 2 (13-24 Hours), Private, for now at least

The buildings making up the southern sector of the settlement are more varied than in other regions; they're split fairly evenly between habitations and commercial enterprises. A number of small stores, restaurants, and other businesses may be found here. Many of these occupy the lower floors of buildings, with housing for the operators and their families above. This section of town is generally efficient and well-organized, with decorations intended to lure customers inside and with little room for gardens. The lighting here is good, and the area is generally quite clean. In the Prologue, this area has no thread limit, so long as threads do not contradict each other.

Time is running out.

He's nearly running out of breath, and his attack doesn't seemed effective enough.

Just as he thought he was a goner, Diane... stopped?

Thank Goodness.

Just as he was about to breathe in heavily, he felt the huge staff landed hardly on his head, following by a sharp pain. It was then he realized he was slowly losing conscience.

He tried to struggle to make sure he didn't die here, but it was to no avail.

He then knew, his game was over.

She hit him again.

Was he dead yet? Was he still moving or was it just her imagination?

She didn't dare look away lest he was feinting, merely preparing to strike when she did.

She made her way back up the steps, still facing him, then half-collapsed against the wall at the rear.

That was it.

That was what it took to kill one person.

He didn't even have a proper weapon.

She could have done better. She had scrapes all over, and she wasn't even sure he was dead.

But that was all she could have done in the heat of the moment. And only how many more to go?

She didn't think too hard about it, but the question nagged at her, even as she decided that it was safe enough to get her things.
