Debut of B02- Open

Anywhere which doesn't fall into any of the other locations, including directly by the towering walls of The Compound, and the alleyways between buildings.

Maddy nodded. Anywhere to get away from the garage she had been in. Was Matthew Payne still there? Was he still lurking? Was he angry at her? It would be incredibly shocking if he wasn't. She had, after all, made an attempt on his life. Maddy sighed a little, what was she thinking? What kind of madness had she allowed to come over her? It wasn't like her, not one bit.

At least, she was pretty sure it wasn't like her. However, how many people could honestly say, with a straight face, that when put into a situation like this they would take the truly peaceful route? She knew this about herself, that when placed into a situation where it's kill or be killed, well...she'd kill. It was oddly comforting.

Duncan seemed calm, he seemed okay and calm and the complete opposite of the giant ball of confusion Maddy felt. She looked at him, allowing her features to soften from the pinched, vacant scared look she was previously sporting. Duncan knew what to do. Duncan would be able to figure it all out. She just needed to trust him, he had always been nice to her so why would he stop doing that now?

"I think that the officer's quarters is a good idea. Hopefully there will be others there so that we can all get together and figure out what to do."

A thought couldn't help but worm its way into Maddy's mind. What could they do, besides what they were brought here for?

William visibly sighed when Duncan had chosen to spoke up after him. It was a bit unnerving, having been the last speaker before a stretch of silence. Oh sure, it was quite short it truth, but still a stretch of silence it had been, a longer stretch of time than it should normally be for someone to come up with something. So really, William was quite grateful of Duncan for interrupting that uncomfortable quietness.

The easy smile the unarmed boy had had certainly helped, even if the joke made moments later was a bit too morbid for William's taste. He tried to smile at it though, if just because he needed the change in mood himself. It came out a bit too robotic and way too fake to convince anyone he was even seriously considering the joke as that, but a smile was still a smile at the end of it, and William found himself feeling just a little bit better.

"The officer's quarters sounds like a good idea to me." He said after a bit of thinking, nodding in agreement. Normally, as much as such situations usually weren't, William would've suggested at least giving the mess hall a go. But given that they were all being forced into the Program, the cupboards and fridges would most definitely be cleared of the last possible scraps of food, so it would be rather pointless to go there. The officer's quarters and the barracks, on the other hand, at least have more walls between each 'cubical' to use as covers should things turned south, unlike the mess hall which had been made for a large amount of people to eat and socialise.

In the end, it was just really a choice between the more spacious officer's quarters, and the more rigidly built and furnished barracks. Either one was fine with William, so he was quite content with Duncan's suggestion.

Gently pushing himself back up, William gave himself a quick pat-down and re-shouldered his bag. With at least a possible destination, he wasn't really fond of staying out in the open any longer. Especially since the unmistakable, if muffled by the distance, sound of gunfire had clued him in on the fact that someone had already started playing.

That someone had already started dying.

William grimaced a bit, staring wearily at what he assumed was the direction the gunshots had came from. The alleyways were reflecting the sounds all over the place, so it was hard to pinpoint where exactly it came from other than the general direction.

Not that it mattered, since that won't be the last shots ever fired.

Shaking his head, William looked back at the others. "Well, I...think we should go soon, we've stayed here long enough." He nodded to himself, trying to be convinced of what he was saying, what he was about to suggest. He had to admit it weren't really too successful, but it was good enough.

Probably.

"I'll take point, I guess. So um..." William paused, trying to think of a follow-up, then sighed. "Stay close, I suppose, and duck if anything happens."

There were probably better ways to say it, to clarify what to do. Like, for example, the general formation to take, or what to look out for. But William was, as far as he knows, the only one having been in the cadets out of this small group, and he was never the leader material then either, so it would probably be best to keep things simple, and take the brunt of whatever might happen. That way, at least the others would have some sort of clue to get them to start running, and maybe live a bit longer.

Checking that his bag was secured one final time, William held the TEC-9 firmly in front of him, and started down the alleyway, looking a bit more determined than before.

Damon was somewhat surprise when William took the lead. Still, it didn't matter to Damon who was going to be the human shield for the others, as long as it wasn't him. "Well then," he muttered as he picked up his weapon from off the ground.

This is going to be interesting. Hopefully it will entertain the folks watching at home. They are probably already taking bets on which one of us in this group is going to die first. They even have nicknames for us by now.

Damon took one last glance around him and then he began to follow William.

Maddie shot a look over to Duncan, before taking a deep breath.

Her mind couldn't stop putting people in order. People she could kill. Duncan was last, but it still unnerved her that he was still on that list... Slowly, but surely, she got to her feet. No more sitting, only walking. Only bravery. She needed to fill her gallery, correct?

So who would be first?

William took the lead, this was okay. Then Damon, that strange, untrustworthy boy, followed after. Maddie gripped her gun tighter. Yes. She would follow.

And she would create a masterpiece.

Part of her did not want Duncan to come, part of her desperately wanted him to run away and never come back and she would never have to see him die. She looked down at him. Another part of her wanted him by her side. She felt comforted there, a strange mixture of nervous and safe and comfortable and she couldn't place it, but it wasn't as though she liked him or anything.

Tucking a stray strawberry blonde hair behind her ear, she turned and began to follow Damon. One wrong move...and she would be ready.

(Sorry for being gone so long - you know how the holidays can be. I feel terrible about this; it won‘t happen again! - Sorry for the short post, I just wanted to get the ball moving so to speak)

Claire did her best to listen as the other’s spoke. When everything was said and done they all agreed on Maddy’s suggestion.

Office Quarters huh. I suppose it’s better than this alleyway. Need to stick with these people unless they become a liability. She looked at the back of Damon’s head as he followed.
I just can’t shake the feeling this guy is untrustworthy. Daddy - are you watching, I'll do my best.

She followed close behind everyone else with her eyes locked on Damon and her gun firmly in hand.
