NPC Roster Rules

This is where you may submit characters for use as NPCs during SC3 and Meanwhile. These are not full critiques/applications, and use of this forum is optional unless a character is otherwise eligible for use in SC proper, in which case they must be registered here as a bookkeeping measure. NPCs posted here must be approved prior to use. Please consult the full rules for applicable protocols. Please note that staff look-overs here are lower priority than proper critiques, so it may take a little while.

NPC Roster Rules

#1

Post by Mini_Help »

Hey, folks! We're doing a bit of a throwback to V2-4 here, and resurrecting the NPC Roster!

What, you ask, is the NPC Roster? In short, it's a place to put brief profiles or write-ups of characters who will not be entering the game, but may play supporting roles in your characters' Pregame stories or in Meanwhile.

Any character submitted through the NPC roster is an NPC, and is subject to specific usage rules. If an NPC is accompanying one of your characters in a thread, they may be used as normal in your posts. If an NPC is not accompanying one of your characters, however, the Guest Writer rules apply in Pregame (though these characters may be used as you please in Meanwhile). If you want to give your characters full independent Pregame stories and RPing rights, they should be submitted as proper characters through the normal process.

For example, if your character is at the mall with their best friend (an NPC you played in a different version), you could use them both normally. On the other hand, if other handlers were writing a thread at the mall and you wanted your character's NPC best friend to appear on their own, they would need to adhere to the guest writer rules (requiring the consent of all other handlers in the scene, having to fade into the background at the request of other handlers in the scene, etc.)

Use of this the NPC Roster is strictly optional, with one exception: if you're using a character who would otherwise be eligible for a future SC version (pretty much anyone with a profile), you must get them approved in the NPC Roster. This is for bookkeeping purposes.

If you're using someone else's character as an NPC, you need their permission, and specifically you need their permission explicitly stating they're fine with you using their character as an NPC. The Open Permissions list does not cover NPC usage.

NPC approval is super casual. This is not a full profile critique. Basically, all that's being done is vetting for continuity issues, realism, sensitive topics, and proper permission. You can have a five-sentence bio if you want, and you'll probably get waved through on the first pass. This is, again, mostly for bookkeeping purposes.

Please use the following template for NPC applications:

Code: Select all

Name:
Gender:
Age:

Appearance:

Biography:

Original Profile:
Permission:
Please fill the template out according to the instructions found here. Feel free to drop us a line if you have any questions!
